Lovely old fashioned hotel giving that warm welcome feel. Breakfast exceptional. Haddock if you wanted it no extra charge. Lovely walkin shower
very good home cooked food, very nice family running it, I went early each day cooked breakfast always ready
Pillows a bit soft for me
everything. loved it..
Loved the fact that my dog was allowed to stay with me while I ate allthough it was in a different room from the dining area which is perfectly understandable and one which I would have preffered anyway. Exellent woods 2 mins from the hotel to walk my dog (I actually got lost we walked that far)
No phone signal in the hotel which for me was not much of a problem as you could get one at the end of the drive
The calm and relaxed atmosphere that the owners bought to your stay. Food was excellent ànd well prepared. Excellent Weekènd retreat
Food, setting,staff all fantastic.
I have stayed in many hotels this. Rates in our top 3. Thank you Rose and Brian for a lovely weekend and thank you for running us about picking us up from station takers back to the station and thank the girls. have a Merry Christmas
Hotel location - out of the way but close enough to walk into town and the prom. Turn left out of the hotel entrance and walk up into the hills and towards the hospice, superb location for taking stunning photographs. Food was outstanding, service was excellent. Hotel was cosy and comforting, quiet and relaxing.
The hotel is comfortable, well appointed, and with friendly staff. If you want to go walking on the hills it is well placed, but...
...on foot it is a fair old stomp uphill from the town. I dislike duvets, and the compulsory music at breakfast, but you get those everywhere.
On immediate entry into the lounge, with the log fire, comfy seats and well stocked bar - I just knew we would enjoy our stay. The hotel is off the beaten track, so it was a comfort to know the restaurant and bar provided all our needs for a relaxing end to a tough day's walking the hills of South Lakes area, without the need to drive out in search of a decent place to eat - it was all here, under one roof! (Try the Friday night 'fish & chip special' dinner.) The bedrooms were all well appointed, with very comfortable beds, and good choice of decoration. A good quality English breakfast with alternative options provided an excellent start to each day. The hotel was a well run family establishment, and we shall definitely be visiting again.
Hampsfell hotel was very homely including the staff. Food was excellent.
The breakfast was very good especially the sausages! We didnt eat in as we were out and about all the time. The relaxed atmosphere.
Cant say i disliked anything really
Comfortable and homely.
Having stayed in Grange over Sands for many years this was our first stay at this hotel. We found it excellent value and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. Can't understand why it is only rated 2* having stayed at some 3* hotels that don't rate as good as this little gem. Would have liked to thank the proprietors personally but on the day we were leaving there seemed to be some sort of crisis as he had to run and answer his phone.
If I had to make one dislike it would be that the base of our bed needs replacing as it was so creaky it woke my husband every time he moved.
The situation is peaceful and picturesque, set in a wooded area with a lovely garden, the family run hotel feels friendly and personal, excellent food and reasonable drinks prices, we enjoyed our stay very much despite the weather!!
Our bedroom (a twin) had a lack of heating for the first two days so was very cold! However it was eventually sorted, by our third days stay, so we could then have a bath! It also had no shower which we prefer. The door to the bathroom was very close to one of the beds this made for disturbed sleep for whoever is in that bed!
The meals provided were good with plenty of choice and value for money.
One of the staff who served us needs to learn to say please and thank you. The weather was appauling so we needed the hotel to be excellent but I would only rate it as good.
The food was good, the owners were very nice.
Wifi down for all 3 days of our visit, no shower only a bath with no grab rails so very nervous when trying to get in and out of bath, no shaver point, food was better when owner cooked. We had been before, but not again I'm afraid.
Great service, friendly staff, fabulous location and excellent quality hotel that was really good value. We stayed in room 6 which was very comfortable and plenty of room for our Labrador too. The food was also delicious!
Classic English hospitality in a charming cottage garden setting.
Beautiful location and peaceful surroundings
Nothing, though for some the steep climb by a fairly narrow road would be chalkenging
Lovely breakfast - good tasty food Very clean facilities Ample free Parking Friendly owners and staff Lovely hotel setting and garden
Having to leave your key when you were out so hotel owners did not lock front door - felt like a guilty kid trying to sneak in un-noticed by parents. There is a key pad lock on the door why not use it?!
cosy, clean accommodation. excellent food . Will come again.
Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, well cooked and tasty food, very comfortable bed
I would have liked a better selection of beers in the bar
Best nights sleep I've had in a long time, beautiful gardens and views. Very clean, spacious light rooms. Wound recommend. Thank you
