Coffee machine Room size and comfort Decoration was tasteful and modern Good bathroom with bath and shower Quiet room at the back of the building (Feather)
Breakfast was rather disorganised on our second day. Nothing to dislike although I imagine the rooms at the front and side of the building might suffer from traffic noise.
Nice private small hotel. All one need for short trip to London is there. Comfort in room Marmaduc is 100% (do not know about other rooms). Also great pub with food and drinks.
Nothing imoprtant. It is just to advise that there sould be maps of London and Tub maps at reception (that was not the case). Otherwise, all is TOP!
Great selection of beers, quick service and good food.
Everything, staff were fun and very helpful. Rooms were nicely decorated and with lots of space. Perfectly located. Very clean. Food was great.
No lift and having to lug suitcase to the fourth floor, but was good exercise!!
location food atmosphere room modern bathroom free wifi
a bit hot in the room when i arrived in the evening (although they supplied a good fan!) food smells on the roof terrace - where you could go out of the window to enjoy the view - unfortunately the food smells spoiled that a bit
Nespresso in the room was a nice perk. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The room was quite warm, as there was no air conditioning and the windows only opened an inch or two. The location was not particularly convenient to most sites, since the closest train station was the overground which doesn't run very often or connect with major tube lines. The rooms could use some updating and deep cleaning.
This is kind of "old style" type of hotel. Maybe somebody can find it charming, unfortunately i didn't. But was really near the place, where i needed to be present. Ok for one night stay.
Small bathroom, no air conditioner in room.
+ Hand&Flower Full English Breakfast is wonderful + Convenient to downtown London and airport (both bus & tube) + Hotel style is nicely presented + Area clean and quiet + The bar / restaurant is nice
+ Travelled in July, the "Feather" room (top of the building) in the evening is a bit hot, have fan but need to open the window as well. + Hotel entrance needs to manual input some code provided by hotel, a swiping key card would be more convenient (not a big deal but some suggestion only)
Awesome full English breakfast Hand pulled pints Spacious room Handy to Olympia tube on the weekend Friendly manager
Bathroom tap had a piece of the handle missing - not a biggie
Rooms are nice, recently renovated. Feels like a decent 4 star hotel. Pub staff that doubles as "hotel" staff reasonably helpful.
No real spirit, if you're looking for a bed and breakfast that has spirit, you'll be disappointed, the place is sold around some sort of a fake corporate backstory. Feels bland overall. But if you don't care about that, you'll be fine.
Don't let the idea of staying in a pub put you off - this is no ordinary pub! The Hand and Flower is a stunning Victorian pub/hotel within a 2 minute walk from Kensington Olympia tube station. The rooms are very spacious (for London standards) and beautifully appointed with modern furniture - complete with a Nespresso machine! Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable and we never had any noise from other guests. Breakfast was wonderful, choice of eggs Benedict, full English, porridge and pastries. If you're lucky enough to grab a bite to eat during the day/evening the food is incredible. Can't highly recommend this place enough. We'll definitely be back!
The 27 degrees heat made the room quite unbearable as there was no air-con (which is to be expected in smaller run hotels/b&b's/pubs in London). However this wouldn't stop me visiting again - perhaps a couple of fans would be good for next time.
Room was excellent. Despite being very busy for the football it was transformed by breakfast time and looked like a different place.
Challenge was checking in - couldn't get to downstairs bar due to the football game popularity. Wasn't possible to check in at upstairs bar, so sampled a lovely glass of wine until game finished. But noone offered any alternative even for my luggage.
We loved the original features and character of the building. ALL the staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The food (especially the Hand & Flower full English breakfast) was spot on good value for money and very well presented.
No negative comments .... Brill from start to finish.
Opposite Olympia - great if you attend a fair event Nice staff always very helpful Very large rooms Nice Nespresso coffee in room to start morning Wonderful English breakfast (all types of variations of breakfast) included in the price
Check out is strange if you don't know it's a pub and that reception is at the bar counter but once you know it's not a problem Payment with foreign Visa not possible (Mastercard only worked for me)
The hotel was opposite the tube station(Olympia), only a few minutes walk from Kensington High Street and walking distance from the Hammersmith Apollo. The decor was wonderful, everything you want to see in a hotel. The room was clean and comfy, The bed was amazing and we were kept cool by a brilliant fan. The staff and especially the manager were extremely helpful and definitely had pride in their workplace. We had a English breakfast the following morning before leaving, which was fantastic. We will definitely be booking to stay here again the next time we visit. We would 100% recommend The Hand & Flower.
location close to Olympia
Sulley? room was very noisy
Given the price, everything is OK.
well, very close to the French Consulate
Great Location for Olympia, rooms clean.
I was in the loft room and a visitor with a disability it was not really ideal, also the room could benefit from air conditioning or a fan as it was really hot. you are unable to relax and watch a bit of TV in bed as the wall bracket and TV positioning is not angled correctly. breakfast had items missing as they were having work completed in the kitchen and for the cost this was not really good the I cannot understand why they can cook bacon, sausage, black pudding but no beans of egg?? the hotel needs to make it clear on booking.com it has no lift and the top floors are not really suitable for people with physical restrictions.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Rooms are excellent and staff is helpful.
Unfortunately we were on the top floor (3rd) with no lift and no air conditioning and ambient temperature of 27 degrees (C).
- Great little gem of a place, close to Kensington Olympia. - Boutique style hotel with comfortably furnished rooms located at side of a pub. - Good free wi-fi - Excellent friendly staff - Murray carried my bags up stairs (no escalators) - Breakfast in pub included.
- A pleasant stay with some points to note: - Reception in lounge of pub, which is a little impersonal when you arrive with luggage. - Keep in mind that the rooms are above a pub and with no 24hr reception, which may bother some. - Smell of drain from en-suite in room which I stayed.
Comfortable beds nice rooms good location
The pub atmosphere was great. The room was spacious and well appointed. The history of the hotel was interesting.
No lift, so lots of stairs up to the second floor. There was a 10-15 minute walk to the nearest tube station, but London is a great city to walk around anyway.
Lovely comfortable bed in a spacious room with a bath and shower; coffee machine in room was a great addition (we stayed in the 'Sully' room. Good selection at breakfast and opposite Pizza Express for a quick bite to eat on an evening.
Bit of a walk to a Central/District line tube station. However Kensington Olyimpia is very close if you don't mind a few extra tube changes.
The pictures with literary characters, the picturesque decoration, the fantastic breakfast, the music at the breakfast room, the chirpy staff, the bed!
