swiming pool great for kids. Cost of room reasonable and bar meal prices reasonable but menu a little limited when staying more than a couple of nights. We stayed here for a trip to alton towers and although room cost ok would not rush back to this hotel, adequate but nothing special. hotel is generally looking tired, bathroom not very clean and in need of renovation. Breakfast overpriced and poor quality..

Good carparking On arrival to the hotel we found that it was situated about a mile out of town up a very steep hill.We were under the imppresion that it was in Ashbourne itself and that we had also got a good deal at a better class hotel/leisure club, and were very dissapointed to find a very dated room, not particulaly clean or comfortable with no remote control for the tv, (which we asked for at reception more than once and did not receive) with only 3 tv channels available. On the second night in the room opposite ours, the family renting the room had a masive argument, shouting, screaming, banging and running around which lasted for approximately 2 hours from 11pm to 1 am .No one from the hotel attempted to sort out the problem and no-one answered the phone at reception. The next morning we complained to your staff and they stated that they knew nothing about it .I have to say that I think the whole hotel would have known about it. We were very dissapionted with the hotel and will not be returning.

location for Alton Towers National Cross country, Breakfast was well worth the price as it would have cost a lot more if we had eaten at a road side cafe

The room was ok and good value for £25 although bathroom very cramped but as usual we take our own toaster and coffee and all was fine! Worst bed I have ever slept in (or tried to sleep in)- sagging lumpy mattress with no support or springs! I told the staff to take it out and burn it and I hope they do! Bathroom was tiny and you could not open the door fully because it banged the sink- no room to stand and have a wash and huge spider in the bath.Food too expensive for small northern hotel so we did not eat there.Had full English breakfast at Toby Carvery for £3.00 each but Miraj charges £7.95 each!

Receptionist really welcoming - makes a big difference. Nice breakfast. I didn't have time to try the leisure facilities. Great value for money. Bar area dominated by TVs - be nicer to have a quieter area too. Needs a lick of paint and a refurb - just a little bit "worn" in places.

We have stayed a number of times and enjoy its leisure facilities without having to pay extra, plus its location near to dovedale as we enjoy challenging walks. Also we love Ashbourne itself with the village feel but with a number of good restaraunts, pubs and numerous small shops. Prabarbly the decour is a bit tired, worn around the bath with leaking shower, only little things.

Hotel staff friendly, but apart from this the hotel is very over priced bathrooms very very old and mildew everywhere 1980's never been updated, family room was a good size but finding someone elses dirty socks next to the bed totally unacceptable! Breakfast poor not good quality not what hotels of same price usually offer. Would not recommend if updated properly and all standards improved it would be a nice place to stay...... Hotel inspector would have a field day there!

Location I upgrade my room but didn't get offered a newspaper (I had to ask for one and when I checked out at 09:00 it had not arrived!!!), there was now sweets and water, as discribed as in Booking.com. My tv only had 5 channels on it and two of them were the radio, so satilite/cabel tv...rubbish!

The room was clean. The room was very basic. The tv only had 3 channels. Breakfast was quite poor with the choice being a full English or a full English. The decor was looking quite tatty; in need of refurbishment. The ensuite had mismatching coloured toilet, bath and sink...in fact rip it all out and start again. Next time I'll pay the extra and go to the Premier Inn.

There was nothing too like about this place. To call this an Hotel is insult to the Hotel Trade. As I cannot use this page for complaints you will never know my true feelings.Although this booking was in my wife's name I paid the bills. John Manser.

The breakfast we had was very enjoyable, when we eventually received it. As my husband and I went to the hotel as guest's for a wedding arranged there, we we're both disappointed to learn that we could not check into our rooms to change, for said venue, as checking in time was 2 o'clock and the wedding was at 1 o'clock . Also my husband and I found it very difficult getting into our room(several times) using the key supplied to us, when reporting this to reception, we we're told that they knew the lock on this particular door was faulty. When we booked the room we we're informed that upon arrival there would be a complimentary newspaper, bottle of water and sweets in our room, which we did not recieve. All in all the stay was not the best for us both on considering that we payed £90.90 for the room, we haved stayed at other hotels for less and received a very good standard of service.

Staff were helpful and friendly during the 28th on the 29th I asked for a poached egg with my breakfast and was told they only did fried. I did get the impression that you couldnt ask for anything outside of what was either given or on the menu. Ie it was a bit of a tussle to get extra bread rolls at the wedding breakfast As detailed above - I also thought in places the hotel was tatty the plates for the breakfast some were unclean and they felt greasy as did the tables.

The hotel is in a great location. The staff were lovely - very friendly and helpful. The facilities were ones I wanted to have on a weekend break. The hotel was let down by being very out dated and tired. The cost was comparable to a holiday inn but the standard was not the same. This is a real shame as with a bit of investment and TLC it would be a really lovely hotel

Decor was pleasant. Towels were soft & clean. The TV channels offered were very poor only ITV3 available and other channels were 'snowy'. Use of wifi in room unavailable. In bathroom floors were dirty, wit stray hairs. No soap. Not enought milk/cream for tea/coffee making facility. The walls in room were marked & needed a clean. As with finding the hotel after 11pm was difficult as was not 'lit up' nor had adequate signage so difficult to find!

Nothing, the only good thing about this hotel is its location to Alton Towers. Everything! Rude unhelpful staff that seem to require 2 or 3 complaints to attempt to put the issues rite. Room was dirty and dusty not good for my partners asthma. Bathroom had mold growing in it and very small. Being woken up by housekeepers having a nice discussion about their night out just outside our door. Bed was very uncomfortable and tv didn't work (No digital) i'm sure the digital upgrade was a good time ago..... Will not be visiting or recommending to anyone.

The Miraj Hotel is in the perfect loction for me and my mates, as we went to Alton Towers and didnt fancy paying the prices of the Alton Towers Hotels. Well since ive stayed at the hotel twice. The only thing that I found was the windows, not only my room but in my friends aswell were abit cracked which made the rooms alittle chilly.

“Initially I thought the location on a roundabout would be a problem but I have to say that it wasn't. First impressions of the hotel as you walk in are lovely and the room didn't disappoint. Everything was immaculate, the staff were friendly and dealt well with a 3yr old who desperately wanted to help them. I have absolutely nothing negative to say, we had a lovely meal and enjoyed the pool very much. Thank you for a great stay!!” Katherine, Watford |
