Staff were welcoming and accommodating

It was clean and comfortable. The spa facilities were excellent. the breakfast was fantastic - good and plentiful. It was in a handy location for the walking we wanted to do

the lasagna for the evening meal was a bit oily.

Breakfasts were disgusting. No effort made- food over and under cooked. Breakfast staff sounded like robots. We skipped breakfast the 2nd morning. Bathrooms were very outdated - in major need of refurbishment.

The leisure centre and hotel where value for money but hotel could do with updating.

Decor very dated as was gym equipment. The food in the Black Sheep bar wasnt great. We had food on friday but the lasagne was very greasy and unapetizing. I have been served better quality pub grub elsewhere.

service - food arrived before my cutlerey, plenty of empty tables but all covered with glasses, dishes etc from previous customers. Had to stand at the bar for what appeared to be ages to get served even though staff were mulling about at the till and then walking away. Bathroom in roon was tired and dirty.

Calm & relaxing atmosphere

The room needs to be brought more up to date & a new bathroom suit is much needed! I wouldn't want to pay any more than I did (£65)

me and my husband arrived at the hotel after a 4 hour drive from Portsmouth and was put in a grubby disabled room bath was grubby didn't look like it had been cleaned we booked a double room and got this people do not use this hotel

The location- very close to Alton towers and Derby where there are a lot of things to do.

It was very uncomfortable beds were uncomfortable. The hotel is outdated and needs redecorating - definitely get what you pay for! One night is enough especially if you are only there to sleep.

The staff in the Restaurant in the evenning were outstanding as were the staff serving Breakfast in the morning. The Hotel was situated in a great central position so we were able to get out and see the Peak District although without a car this location would not be any good for moving around the area. It had hills either side and they were steep climbs back to the hotel from Ashbourne.

The plumbing in the hotel was appauling. The noise made by the toilet flushing/water running was unbearable and went on into the night when other rooms used their toilet/bathroom. We were woken at 1am 2am by the pipes banging and water noises in the pipes. The Mirror on the back of the bedroom door was filthy with childrens little fingers marks all sticky and very unhygenic. There was soap papers on the floor from previous guests staying in the room. They used paper bath mats in the bathroom. Very Low Class. It was very hard to book into the spa as only 1 appointment was available for the spa treatments and we would have both liked to use the facilities. No appointments for a pedicure in the 3 days we were there.

Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly helpful staff. This applied to everyone we came across not just one or two individuals.

Although comfortable and clean the decor is very tired and in need of attention . It does not create a good impression when you first walk through the door which is a real shame given the efforts of the staff to ensure you enjoy your stay.

Located in a lovely part of the country. Hotel was clean and the staff were excellent and very helpful. Food in the restaurant was great; large portions and not expensive. Breakfast was great too. Pool a bit cool but steam room was fantastic.In total an absolutely bargain for what we paid and will definitely return.

Rooms look a little tired but would not distract us from returning at all.

Room and bathroom was old and scruffy looking. Rooms and spa facilities need a refurb.

The food in restaurant/pub was delicious, excellent service.

The cocktail bar was advertised in brochure in room, went out for cocktails only to be told cocktail bar does not sell cocktails ! Breakfast was cold, no cereal bowls, or serving spoons in the fruit bowls.

The food was above what we thought it might be like thankfully breakfast was cooked individually and well very tasty, but having looked at the menu for breakfast as a whole there was a lack of a couple of items, muffins ans yogurts that could have easily been made available (a trip to local shops). I soppose they thought it was to much for a very quiet mondy morning, also there wasn't any apple juice available because the lorry couldnt get through because of the snow, but this was explained to us The leisure facilities were very pleasant to use an an added bonus to me choosing this particular hotel.

Although we were booked in vry last minute and had a geed price and basic room I did feel that as the rest of the hotel was almost vacant we could have been offered another nicer room. Also we didnt mention it but the window in the room was very badly fitted and the wind blow through it quite badly, there was a notice on the window not to open it. We put a cushion up against the major draughty bit, closed the curtains and turned the heating up high.
