Novotel Cardiff Centre

We thought the hotel staff were extremely helpful and it was a very stylish hotel with great facilities. It was conveniently situated with a short walking distance to all the fantastic shops for the day and another short walk to Cardiff Bay for a few drinks in the evening. The biggest plus for us was breakfast was served until 12pm on Sunday - why don't all hotels do this? Also it was a fantastic spread and still very fresh. We would have liked to have made use of the spa but after such a big breakfast we couldn't face getting into our swimwear. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back soon.

Fire alarm went off at 7 - 7.30 both mornings of stay, as this was a break to get away from early rising special needs child wasn't too impressed. Had to ask for breakfast items to be replenished, could have done with more staff on, they had too much to do

Competency, and willingness of staff to assist in any problems - our revised booking to include an older child wasn't filtered through and this was dealt with very efficiantly. General politeness of all staff at all levels - everyone took the time to say good morning and to ask if there was anything they could help us with. Menu selection of Elements was diverse and a lovely breakfast in a comfortable and freindly atmosphere. Excellent tea facilities in room. Leisure facilities great. Provided a map of the city when asked.

Not really dislike but the artwork in the bedroom was a bit risky with children around. Would be nice if the map was automatically included on arrival. TV didn't work but the duty manager could not have done any more to try and resolve this problem and was up and down several times from central computer to our room trying different things to fix it. The complimentary bottle of wine was much appreciated

The hotel is very central and is a lovely building. The room was clean and very comfortable, the staff were helpful and we were allowed a late check out as we had run the cardiff Half Marathon and needed a shower. Breakfast was wonderful, a good selection and good service.

Good breakfast, nice rooms, swimming pool and facilities, very friendly staff, very good value for money (we paid a discounted deal - think this would have been outwith our budget at full price)

Parking was terrible and bar prices were very high.

My partner smokes and was delighted to find that we could have a room that had a balcony to smoke on, whilst preserving the smoke free atmosphere of the room for myself. We assumed that all hotels are now non smoking. The breakfast was pretty good.

There was no hot water early evening. This was rectified by 9 in the evevning. This was most likely a one off and would not deter us from staying here again,
