nice room and view
no wifi in room
Great location, great staff, comfortable room, very clean.
it was a bit difficult to find it
Everything was very good, location, facilities, cleanliness and comfort. Only problem is it was cold and foggy so I couldn't take advantage of the balcony and view!
Despite the number of poor reviews we decided that as we were only staying for one night we would risk it...and we're so glad we did. Location, tho slightly complicated to reach, is stunning and we had a wonderful 24 hrs at the hotel. Very friendly staff, great views of lake, large sized bedroom etc. Not quite 4 star but price more than makes up for it. Definitely coming again!
Hard mattress on bed, evening meal not great tho the breakfast made up for it...
Everything was perfect Man at the reception was very helpful. This was the third time we stayed in this hotel, always have great time.
Lovely location on the lake with swans
Apathetic staff..hotel smells damp and cold in corridors...rooms need updating/modernising...i paid £49pn without breakfast...anymore and I would have requested a refund..would not recommend staying here
Ease of booking Spacious rooms View
Early check out time
Lake with swans and ducks !!!
Place smelt damp..found a lighter, lid on floor, door handle fell off in bathroom ,no staff ,wanted to go as soon as we saw rooms but were stuck to re find another hotel..and well floor dropping price of 28 pounds for 3 glasses of vinegar oh no wine and a lemonade what a rip off..showed morning staff what I found on floor she just gave me a look to say and??ruined our shopping trip completely..4 star hotel. No Bates motel ..bnb surely would have been better who gave this hotel 4 stars ???
Letting me stay for an extra night when I had a hangover !! My best part was waking up looking over the lake denfentley coming back
Nice location - over looking the lakes
Balcony & view of lake
Loved the views, would be lovely to sit on the balcony and stay longer. The day staff were lovely and very helpful,
the hotel itself is dated and our room smelled musty and the shower needed de scaling , the night reception staff person seemed miserable not a nice feeling when checking in. Need table and chairs on the balcony !
Location, right on the lake. View from the rooms Decent, powerful shower Comfortable bed Fridge in the room
Dated decor in the room. No one on the reception desk on departure, waited 15 minutes before giving up and finding somebody chatting at the bar downstairs. Lack of TV channels.
Lake view was beautiful and was a very quite location, even tho it does look like a hospital when you pull up.
finger prints over the copper door handles before you ever get into your room. broken tiles in the bathroom. the room smelt musky like its never had a window open. Dusty fans when you are trying to eat. and charging £23 for two JD and coke.
The room and the view was fabulous. The bed was very comfortable, although the TV was very dated it did the job. The whole hotel spoke of faded opulence.
The price - I have stayed in as much comfort at half the price. The meal was nice enough but expensive, and the cost of wine was out of the roof. Didn't stop us drinking or enjoying ourselves though.
Dirty, Needs renovating - very dated, minimal rooms, broken furniture. Very dissapointing. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone. 2 Star I would say.
views and location
everything else from service, cleanliness, environment and product
Beautiful view of the lake
Damp, mouldy and very dated
Location and seclusion.
I stayed here some years ago when it was a Copthorne Hotel. I remember it so differently to what I found this time. While the location, once you get there is good, if you like being by a lake and not near anything else, it is the route to/from the hotel that is off putting. The route from the main road gives one an impression that the hotel is going to be downmarket. It is now down market and does not deserve a 4Star rating. Is condition and facilities and price might qualify for a 3Star rating. I am a very seasoned traveler, spending upwards of 200 nights per year in hotels around the world, and can say with certainty that this hotel is badly in need of a complete refit. After which if the refit is done correctly could possibly be 5Star. However the route to/from unless improved somehow(?) may still be to its disadvantage. The staff were polite and tried to be helpful but their experience seemed to let them down. When asked for a brandy and ginger we were told they had no such drink, not knowing that brandy and ginger ale mixed was what was wanted. Breakfast was what I would expect from a buffet and we did arrive at 09:45 so I did not expect much. However I was surprised and pleased with the quality and service. The food in the evening was a disaster. The BBQ chicken was thin, dry and tasteless as was the chicken in a very poorly un-prepared burger. Give the staff their due I was not charged for that portion of the meal. This was not just me with a complaint the people at the next table who had also order a meal with chicken also complained.
Reception staff on arrival were very good.
Main restaurant had been closed since February but still shown on hotel info as being available. Very limited TV channels in room. No Wi-Fi in room. Cannot see how this hotel warrants a 4 star rating.
Tired room from the 70's Ignorant night reception gent. The rest were pleasant. amount of dead flies/bugs near the window. Dirty balcony, would have enjoied sitting out but is was filthy.
breakfast was too expensive. Bathrooms need updating.
Great view of lake.
Sat Nav took us a very scenic route!
The location is nice, off the beaten track but still within an easy commutable distance of Reading or Theale and close to the A4/M4. Every room has a view over the lake and rooms are a good size. Free parking :-)
It's not the cleanest of places, especially in the bar area; the ceilings are very high but still huge cobwebs above your head while you're eating/drinking isn't a good thing to see!
