Very pleasant staff, good food, lovely landscape. We were able to visit and see two friends in Kendal, as well as some of the local attractions.
We always enjoy our stay with excellent food and superb hospitality.
Booked a room with mountain view and had it confirmed. Then it was changed and we were given a £10 discount. Then we were e mailed and told that the same room was now £50 cheaper after we had already booked
The hotel has a wonderful atmosphere. We walked into a lovely welcoming bar area with the wood burner burning brightly. The staff were excellent and really treated us well. We were so pleased with the standard of accommodation, the room was lovely. We enjoyed an excellent lamb hotpot and steak & ale pie. We even tried our hand in answering the quiz questions with the locals. An absolutely excellent choice of hotel which we would recommend to anyone.
There was nothing we didn't like! Beautiful room and ensuite. Fantastic food. and the staff couldn't do enough for us!
Everything. A great experience and value for money
Staff very friendly and considerate. Meals excellent and most of all hotel was pet friendly. Location superb.
We arrived late and were welcomed by friendly staff and even offered refreshments. Lovely pub and such a change from the chain pubs. Room and huge bathroom perfect. Breakfast was delightful.
Nothing apart from the fact that we wished we could have stayed another night!
Very comfy beds and pillows! High quality bed linens and super thick towels. Exceptionally clean room. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Good local produce used in both breakfast and evening meals. Good value at £28.50 per night each!!!!
Standard room no. 3 a little squashed because of wardrobe cupboard's closeness to the end of the bed - but NOT a big niggle!
Lovely tranquil setting for our 2 nights while exploring the Lake District. Staff is friendly and very welcoming. Food is excellent. Room was comfortable and clean. The best B&B we stayed in during our 2 weeks in UK. Definitely would stay here in the future.
- all was well, not a thing to note.
Our room was the luxury room and was very large & airy with plenty of wardrobe space. Very welcoming place with fantastic food
Ambience and friendly atmosphere. We had the top room which was beautifully appointed but retained the atmosphere of the local pub.lovely to see dogs welcome.
No tissues in the bedroom.
Food was tasty and good portions (not haute cuisine but good pub grub), the room was newly refurbished and very comfortable, the staff were very friendly, chatty and helpful. We had a great weekend and will be back.
The floor boards on the floor above our room were VERY creaky which meant when the room's occupants got up at 6.30 both mornings we were disturbed- a few nails in the boards would make the whole weekend perfect!
Really lovely, very popular village pub. We were made to feel very welcome, together with our dog. Delicious large portioned meals. Generous sized room and huge bathroom with roll top bath in the roof of the pub, with good views both back and front.
Amazing food, good atmosphere! Recommend to all.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food / creative cooking. Beautiful location in Southern Lake District.
Atmosphere Friendliness Room & Views
AWFUL smell on the stairwell leading from the bar/restaurant to our room.
Excellence all round - welcome, food, beer ( Hare of the Dog particularly good ), service and hospitality. Genuinely dog-friendly - a couple of the more recently renovated bedrooms don't allow dogs which is fair enough. If you are staying you have a table for dinner reserved for you automatically which is a blessing as it gets really busy early evening. It worked well for us to eat a bit later as there was just a bit less pressure on the kitchen. You need to save yourself for breakfast though - just perfect for a day's walking!
Room was small but nicely furnished and adequate for 1 night
There was some kind of compressor running on and off all night - very noisy. Husband's food was good (steak and ale pie) but mine was dry and tasteless (lamb shank)
It was very quiet and the food was excellent
The dog smell when one entered, but no problem upstairs.
Friendly and Efficient staff, Excellent food, especially the "Breakfast". Very reasonably priced drinks. Quiet location. Comfy room, no hassle car parking.
the decor and food are very good
no private outdoor seating for guests, no chairs or sofa in our room despite it being "superior"
the welcome, the friendliness, the room, the staff, the food. The whole experience.
Amazingly thorroughly renovated old pub with suites. Big room with a gorgeous bathroom. Extremely clean, stylish and authenticly made pub and restaurant. Gives you the perfect feeling of staying in an old remote inn but with all the modern comfort. We enjoied it very much and would go there again any time.
Fanastic Location and amazing food, especially the Sticky toffee pudding.
