Friendly efficient staff

Not getting pillow request right

The evening meal was excellent and the staff service very good. The room was comfortable. The garden around the hotel and the hotel itself are full of character and conducive to relaxation.

The bathroom was an odd shape and some of the plumbing didn't work very well. We were there at the same time as a wedding party so the facilities in the hotel were stretched - we knew this beforehand but it does mean that our experience probably isn't that representative. The room was near a fairly fast road so although traffic volume was light this did provide some noise throughout the night.

We have been before and it was just as good this time - good staff, food, drink and service

Not being told that there were weddings on and we couldn't have dinner in the restaurant.

This is a well-run hotel in lovely grounds and very conveniently located for the Arboretum, Tetbury, Highgrove and so on. The rooms are very comfortable and breakfast was good. Parking busy but spaces available, main road quite busy but rooms at the back peaceful.

Some of the reception staff were rather insincere in their attitude.

Beautiful room, wonderful communal areas. Good food and drink. A lovely hotel all round.

Not a 24 hr reception. I had to check out at 6AM to get to a meeting and there was no-one on reception. Someone came quickly and was very professional so only a minor quibble.

We had a lovely stay at The Hare and Hounds Hotel. I would definitely return! Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel itself is a stunning building in a beautiful rural setting. The room was very clean and tastefully decorated.

The only thing I can think of is there was no shelf in the shower to store your shower gel so there wasn't much we didn't like really !

The surroundings, friendly staff

As we did not want to eat the full menu in the dining room we ate in the Jack Hare bar. It is a case of find a table and order your meal. The bar was very full and we decided to eat outside which was fine because the weather was good, however, it might be difficult in colder weather.

The Hare and Hounds was chosen based on reviews read as well as the range of facilities, and it more than lived up to expectations. The staff were extremely attentive, unobtrusive but always helpful and the cuisine was first class and we experienced both formal dining as well as Jack Hares bar for evening meals. Everything was of the highest quality and two nights just wasn't enough.

As a solo female traveller I felt very comfortable and safe. The location is beautiful and staff warm and welcoming.

Welcome, friendly efficient and helpful staff. Liked the room facilities and large bathroom. Bed was comfortable. Food was good and plentiful.

Wanted to stay in the main building but although we asked we didn't get a transfer offered even though I am sure there was at least one cancellation. It was not obvious at time of booking that we were in an outside block. As I was with a wedding party I particularly wanted to be in the main building.

Good food. Relaxed atmosphere.

A small tablet of soap in the bathroom would be useful.

Room21 was fabulous. Rachel on reception was wonderful. David/ Anetta/ Richard/ Duncan all wonderful and looking forward to meeting/working along side them again. Nothing was too much trouble. Fabulous people who are hard working and certainly worth a pay rise, totally worth it as they make the hotel what it is.

Bar prices where extreme! Too expensive!!!

Exclusivity of the room that we had

Attention to detail - light bulb out in the room, no tea towel in the kitchenette

The room was beautiful. The four poster bed was at least a King and incredibly comfortable, very supportive without being hard. We had room service for our dinner after arriving late and the food was excellent. The staff were also very polite and helpful. The whole hotel had a lovely atmosphere of relaxed country luxury. The string quartet live in the sitting room Sunday afternoon was a lovely touch.

Nothing! Oh, bringing up a small table to put the room service tray on would have been useful, but we placed the tray on the footstool between the two armchairs and it sufficed perfectly well.
