The individualistic decor and style, friendly and professional staff, the quality and ambiance of the restaurant, which sets this apart from some of the other establishments nearby. Definately worth the stay and makes a stimulating change from the multinational and vertically integrated hotel chains.
Nothing, but be aware the rooms are over the restaurant which has live (quiet and balanced) music which finishes at 10pm.
Location , great staff , excellent reasonably priced food , almost "Parisienne" atmosphere - in Yorkshire !!
Small bed ( we are not that large ) and prostatic shower ....
Lovely big bed and nice bathroom.
Bit of a climb to bedroom.
Room was dark and carpets and paintwork was grubby and dirty not a hotel a b& b no lounge to sit in etc
The evening meal with music was very good and it had a very nice ambiance
The staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent and the music was wonderful as well! So central to everything, a great place to stay. We will stay again when we visit that part of the world.
Next time we would ask for a room with a shower (these are available) as we only had a bath and our preference is for showering.
Great location, very clean, good food. One of the best breakfasts I have had in a long time and served with a joke and a welcome smile. We had an enjoyable meal in the evening and all round value for money. We would stay again.
The bedroom decor is very outdated and my room at the front noisy. Not the hotels fault, it is on a busy road. Room to rear was much more quiet. The barman had no conversation not even a smile but poured a very good g & t. Same again with chap paying the bill in the morning, felt like we were getting in the way of his cashing up.Made up for by the chap serving breakfast.
Friendliness of staff. Excellent central location. Character hotel. Nice Breakfast.
No heating in room and as weather was poor we were cold most of the time. WiFi not working at all. Creaky floors.
Sleeping (trying) under the kitchen

too tight on parking
Location was fab , lift apartment was superb .
No bath robes
Location was excellent to town and parking available to rear of hotel
All the stairs to the room
Bar area Drinks patio Helpful, polite, friendly staff Evening meal Breakfast Quirky room décor
Waste water pump in bathroom was a little noisy
we were approached by the owner on our first morning and asked if we would like to change our room to a lower floor.we accepted and was given a beautiful room on 1st floor it was wonderful.
only the stairs but we did not have to worry about them as we got a beautiful room next day.
Location and comfort.
Quirky hotel...if you like that kind of thing. American/jazz style dining area, with photos of famous people and live music every night. Each room is different and they are all a bit different/quirky.
Hotel is on a busy street, so don't expect a good night's sleep! The food in the brasserie sounded delicious but was well below average.....my 'rosemary potatoes' tasted like they has been cooked several hours, or even days before and reheated! I would definitely choose one of the many other eating places in Harrogate if I were to visit again.
Great location and outstanding value for money. Room had an excellent lay out. Breakfast was fabulous. Quirky hotel that beats impersonal chain hotels hands down!
The standard of the individually decorated bedrooms added to the quirky nature of the whole place. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice as was the food served in the restaurant. The nice added touch was the live jazz every evening. Right in the heart of Harrogate close to restaurants, pubs, shops, gardens and the Conference Centre. I would definitely stay here again if I came to Harrogate and would recommend it to anyone.
The car parking was a little awkward as spaces are limited.
Noisy stay. Rooms could do with updating. Breakfast was good. Tried to charge us more but I had got price for family room with 2adults &child(6 years) for £140 for 2nights. Tried to charge us £180 by saying booking was for one person!! In a family room!!
Very noisy at night.
I loved the Hotel and Staff and facilities and the room was lovely - like home from home. Extremely comfortable bed and bathroom nice. Had a great meal and entertainment on the Sunday Jazz Night. Fantastic!
Room was at front of hotel on a very busy main road and was kept awake most of the night. Stayed for 2 nights and was really tired by the time we went home. Would request a room at back of hotel next time.
Central for the theatres, shops, conference centre, churches. Easy walking distance of the train station. There is free parking behind the hotel but a bit tight. Staff were courteous and helpful. Food was excellent, breakfast one of the best for choice seen in a long time. The cleanliness was superb. Plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Will definitely return.
Compared to other breaks I can't fault this for value for money. Only slight observations, the bedroom was a bit dark and it was difficult to read by the light. There was no overhead shower in our room but the bath was excellent.
Bed too narrow and soft;noise from road with a front room;parking not always available;wi-fi
Stylish, distinctive, comfortable and friendly. I would definitely stay here again.
Staff were really friendly and helpful. Lovely family room with separate childs bedroom. Great location although noisy in the morning (especially in my daughters bedroom) from traffic as on the main road. No childrens menu, if you were expecting that, but my daughter loved the confit of duck. The food was lovely.
