Wonderful location Charming Comfortable lounge for relaxing downstairs. Helpful staff throughout
Noisy guests who came to bed at 5am.
Location and ease of walking to all historic sites and shopping.
No WiFi possible in my room
The staff are great, the atmosphere last year was really good and we re-booked on the strength of that, it still has the potential to be a great hotel.
Make your mind up please? You can't charge a premium rate and then close off the bar and set it up for an event (Disco) in the evening. We meet our friends who travel from Weston-S-Mare and we travel from Cambridge, after leaving a restaurant we retired back to the hotel to catch up on our years news, only to find there was nowhere to go in the hotel, very disappointing and we could have stayed in the restaurant had we known. Adriano the manager was very accommodating and listened very patiently, he offered us some options but we chose a 50% refund, for that we will try again but not if there is any indication that the hotel is being use for Christmas 'Do's' - yes there were two on the go and the noise wasn't good. Staff banging on an entrance door and shouting to get access in the court yard below was another unacceptable disturbance. To be fair the hotel was very clean but it is looking very tired, OK for one night though.
Location very central Staff helpful as got there early and needed to store our bags Breakfast was good
We were in an annex and it was noisy as next to a alleyway....not a major issue Could not have breakfast in our room as not in main Hotel
I enjoyed all aspects of the Harte and Garter apart from...
The heat which overnight was virtually intolerable. We couldn't control the level of heat except via the airconditioning which we asked the nightstaff for assistance with. The window could only be opened very slightly. If this could have been opened we would have opened this fully and not used the air conditioning. The bed and the bedding although comfortable added to the level of heat as I believe that the materials used in the bedding and the bed (?) were all manmade. So we tossed and turned for much of the night throwing the bedding off to one side.
Location was excellent. Size and quality of room was great.
We were placed in room 02, this was awkward to get to and a long way from my parents room, we were all travelling together.
Good size. En-suite v. good
Only one bedside lamp - there was a wall lamp on the side not equipped with lamp, but this was too far from the bed and the lights were not very bright. Pillows only had pillowcase and no pillow lining.
views of castle from room 409 were amazing, room very clean, spacious and comfortable, great location, good restaurant
parking was expensive and far away, loading zone in front of hotel small, shower was awkward and very short
Reception staff rude abrupt. Due to the hotel having 3 Xmas parties no where to sit have a bar drink. Service for afternoon tea breakfast really slow, had to wait ages. Dirty piles of towels in corridors at 4pm by our room. Due to Xmas parties very noisy at 1am in the morning.
\the location of the hotel is fantastic, near the station, on the High Street, close to all the pubs, restaurants and shops and, most importantly, faces Windsor Castle. Our room was big with high ceilings, warm and welcoming. Great bathroom. The blonde lady receptionist was helpful, unfortunately cannot say the same about the rest of the staff.
Upon arrival, the receptionist who checked us in didn't even bother making a single eye contact, not to mention a desired "welcoming smile". The layout of the hotel is a bit confusing, I understand that it is an old building, but I wound it frustrating that to get into our room, we had to walk through the back door past the stacks of dirty linen and kitchen staff walking around, shouting. In my opinion, guests should not have to face the "back of house" as it ruins the whole experience! So if you are staying, please avoid rooms 1-3. Room was good, however the double bed (even though it's quite big and comfortable) was made from two single beds pushed together, so eventually throughout the night you could feel them sliding apart making a gap in the middle, between the mattresses. Lastly, I paid extra attention to the previous reviews about breakfast, which were all very good. I guess, we were a bit unlucky, as our breakfast happened to be almost inedible. Two full English breakfasts, arrived in 20 minutes after ordering, lukewarm and not very appetizing. One small vinegary poached egg, grey looking bacon and overcooked beans stuck to the plate. Sausages were nice. In overall, little things like that as well as our wifi not working (the receptionist said that we were given used codes), key deactivated in the middle of the stay and everything already mentioned - ruined the whole experience. I think this hotel has great potential and it looks welcoming and charming, something has to be done about the customer service!!!
Found checking in pretty hard work as they weren't sure rooms were ready at 4!
Location is good. Nice room. Very clean.
Having to get a printed wifi password for each device. No way to order room service from my room. Reception staff who peek their heads up from their desk to see what you want rather than walk the few feet to the counter and show some courtesy.
The location of the hotel was excellent. The restaurant manager Anna was excellent and went out of her way to asist us., moved tables etc as we were a party of 10. The manager of the reception moved a room for my elderly parents which gave them an amazing view of Windsor Castle from the balcony.
We booked 5 rooms in total but 3 were in the annexe around the corner. Whilst the rooms were lovely there were no views other than metal stairwells. Walking around to the main part of the hotel in the cold and rain wasn't great. I think you should be informed when you make the booking that you have been allocated the annexe rooms.
The noise from the clubs and public much !
Room Service No parking Cost Broken facilities Poor service when problems highlighted
Room was not as clean as it should have been and the hotel was generally rather run down and dirty Cooked breakfast was very average
WC that was dripping all night making noise. Shower that should be re-done. Noise early moring of hotel work just out-side window.
staff at reception was very helpfull and knew what she was talking about (black girl) very friendly and on the ball. knew the taxi rates and booked one for me to get to airport. taxi on time. all went smooth
breakfast was packed away by 9 am. scrambled eggs are not real eggs but rather powder. not nice. restaurant staff not very friendly at all.
Nice hotel. Lovely area to have breakfast
Staff rushed us at breakfast. Didn't get time to choose and they didn't explain the bigger section. Ladies toilets near bar need maintenance.
The view was great. Room was ok. Bed comfort could of been better.
While there there was an issue with gas leak which meant there was no hot water. Not their fault but inconvenient. Nearest car park is a few mins walk away so in the rain it's not very nice.
Staff very helpful and friendly
We were in accommodation at the back of the hotel. Down a street behind hotel. We weren't staying in main hotel and there was no connecting entrance. We had to walk out onto the street to get into main hotel.
The staff were very welcoming and did all they could to help. The breakfast was great value for money and very tasty.
We booked to stay in the hotel and were told we were staying in the converted town house at the back. We changed rooms as I wasn't happy with this. We then had no hot water and was woken at 6am Sunday morning by building work going on of what appeared to be behind our wall. I wouldn't recommend unless you are sure you are staying at the front of the hotel.
In the heart of Windsor. Good breakfast.
Small (but ok with ok shower) bathroom with sink on the room (single room).
