Good location, pleasant exterior and grounds Friendly staff Good breakfast
'stale' smell, cobwebs cold room,sub-optimal heating 'confused' theme- Poets/teddy bears/stuffed foxes!! Poor mobile phone network coverage
old world charm
facilities not up to modern day standards
Excellent location with beautiful views, ideal for weddings! Lovely furnisher and great wallpaper.
Lack of cleanness, with towels not changed for four days, plus they were too small for the bathroom more like hand towels? toilet with someone's poo in it when we arrived, lack of toilet paper a major problem! TV could do with modernizing.
The by-gone charm of the place. Very good food.
Mildew on the shower walls.
beautiful setting, kind friendly staff and very comfortable furnishings.
We had 4 rooms and all were different, such a refreshing change from modern hotels where you wouldn't even know which floor you were on without looking out of the window. Nicely furnished & quiet rural location.
Possibly plumbing could do with updating but not a major concern by any means.
The idyllic setting. The friendly owners, David and Anne. The lovely old buildings and the peace and tranquility. Being able to sit, at dusk, with a glass of wine, in front of the open French windows, watching the sheep grazing, and feel as if we were the only people in the world.
The building cleanliness beautiful views breakfast The area
Wonderful location and building, passionate owners who were very helpful. Good food, excellent breakfast.
Beautiful location, quiet and peaceful. Excellent room. Good breakfast
Shower tricky to use.
Stepping back 40 years with décor, but in a stunning setting. The owners were a lovely elderly couple. Should be a TV set.
The breakfast was terrible. The room was small and dated.
A family run type of hotel..... Friendly staff.... Not a conglomerate managed hotel....
The Hall itself was a grand mansion set in very impressive grounds.
Although the hall was grand, the actual accomadation was simply old fashioned. They provided an English breakfast, but it was buffet style which served the eggs in a watery big lump each morning which was not appetizing. The breakfast area had tatty old red chairs with mismatched tables The internet service was hit or miss- mainly miss. Strange- on the one hand the experience at Hartforth Hall was very grand, but it actually fell short in very basic ways- why they didn't even provide biscuits in the room!
For what we paid, it was good value. The Hotel is a fine 18th Century Hall with some interesting features and pleasant grounds. The room was comfortable and clean if a bit limited in space.
Breakfast was pretty basic: a small buffet with little choice. It could do with providing some fresh fruit and fresh fruit juice, and perhaps a choice of eggs. But we recognise that for the price, we have few complaints.
David and Ann they made our stay a truly lovely experience and I feel all the better for meeting them( thank you ) and also the rest of there staff lovely staff The location and the hotel was amazing and so relaxing and peaceful x
The grounds, the room, the local attractions and scenery, the peace and quiet. The breakfast was also good. We ate out both days and can highly recommend fish restaurant nearby.
Bed was a little on the hard side. Staff a little too intrusive, but always helpful.
The building itself was impressive, both inside and outside, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the food very good. We will certainly be returning.
Good location and nice grounds. Friendly welcome on arrival .
Poor shower. Uncomfortable bed. The hotel lacked atmosphere and seemed a little run down
We liked the location and the surroundings were very peaceful and beautiful.
We were quite upset that we could not eat a meal in the Restaurant as arranged because we didn't want to have to look around for somewhere after a long journey. We never eat here for our evening meal which was a shame.
Enjoyed the whole experience. Hartforth Hall, the owners Ann & David, the excellent breakfasts and the comfortable rooms made for a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Also the staff. Would recommend to friends without hesitation. Not forgetting the beautiful grounds!
Piece and quiet. Beautiful location.
Wonderful old country house with magnificent grounds, interior furnishings and decorations, a truly memorable place to stay. Run by elderly couple who were the epitome of courtesy and helpfulness. Close to Richmond with good variety of restaurants including some of really high quality.
Bed (double in 4 poster de-luxe room) was on narrow side and mattress was too hard. Partner complained of sore hip and having to keep turning. Saw a double in another room and it too looked to be a standard (not wide) width. Breakfast would have been fine for a £50 guest house, but ...... It would cost so little to have extra juice, fresh fruit salad, grapefruit, yoghurts available, as one would expect in a high-price hotel.
David and Ann were wonderful, we were a party of 17 and anything we asked for the answer was yes. We had our evening meal in the beautiful wedge wood room which was laid out like a banquet! The hotel and grounds are beautiful and great for football. The rooms were lovely lots of quirky touches such as the hand made bags on the doors which held the do not disturb sign.
The food was a disappointment. It was fine but not great.
Very personal and friendly Tranquil location
