Lovely well kept hotel with great features , very clean food was fantastic and owners Ann and David were very welcoming .location was wonderful with great views .
Friendliness of all staff
Could have better wifi coverage in rooms
The quiet peacful beautiful location. I loved looking at the old pictures. The furnicture and decor like something out of 'Downton'. This is a treasure to be enjoyed. The grounds are fantastic and to roam without bumping into people was my king of heaven. I will return. Thank you.
If I wanted to be 'picky' the shower although lovely and hot was slow. And I expected to see Maggie Smith at each corner but she didnt appear. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Friendly staff. Location. Grounds.
TV was too small. Choice of cereal could be improved at breakfast
Fabulous location. Sensational rooms no expense spared on furnishings. ..even cut glass at the dinner table.
No lift. unreliable wifi and limited mobile phone service
Friendly Staff The Grounds The Building Very comfortable rooms
Excellent Room sizes and comfort second to none also breakfast was something else.
Arrived fairly late in the evening and there was little light to see the main entrance from the main road.
Mr and Mrs Johnson were very helpful and hospitable. We learnt about the interesting history of the Hall. We also liked walking the surrounding grounds using the footpath by the river. Our evening meal was very tasty,we felt the other residents didn't know what they were missing,
Our mattress was a little hard,
The location is good, the hard decoration is good, the FOH staff (only two of them) take some getting to know, but in the end were quite friendly and willing
The food was ordinary to poor for the price, the hotel lacks a good active housekeeper, too many facilities were not well maintained. The 'basic' room we booked through the Bookings website was a joke, dark and right over the kitchen. Had to upgrade
Location. Ambience. Peaceful.Decor.
Few guests . Felt like a very large stately b&b.
outdated and a bit shabby
The staff , The house
Room could have been cleaner
Very cosy and friendly hotel Attentive staff couldn't do enough for guests A bit special
The wifi did not work and the phone signal didn't either do wasn't able to contact family back home.
The elegance of this Georgian Country House. The magnificent rooms in particular the entrance, drawing room and dining room. The idyllic country surroundings and views add to the experience. The charming and slightly quirky hosts were just brilliant - we loved the recommendations and assistance offered during our 3 night stay which ended too soon.
The bathroom could do with a make over. This is insignificant when compared with the stunning setting and the glorious house.
The location of this hotel was stunning, the scenery took your breath away. The owners were friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. They made us feel very welcome. I would definitely recommend this hotel on to friends.
The location and the character of the hotel with an interesting history.
The hotel seemed to be dated and becoming in need of refurbishment. The electricity supply failed whilst we were there and the evening meal was very poor with what seemed to be bought in ready made food.
hotel had lots of character. like stepping out of modern era into history with the furniture and the furnishings.
Breakfast good but eve meal not so good.
Good location, pleasant exterior and grounds Friendly staff Good breakfast
'stale' smell, cobwebs cold room,sub-optimal heating 'confused' theme- Poets/teddy bears/stuffed foxes!! Poor mobile phone network coverage
old world charm
facilities not up to modern day standards
Fantastic building with lots of character. Lovely grounds to walk around and relax in. Friendly and helpful staff. Close to the A1 which is great for travelling and even better so close to Richmond.
Our room was up a flight of stairs away from the main hotel. The room was foisty and the smell of damp was everywhere. I couldn't stay in this room longer than we had to due to the smell. One window opened but only slightly. Room opposite the kitchen and was quite noisy especially when staff went home. Next time I will request to stay in the main part of the hotel.
Excellent location with beautiful views, ideal for weddings! Lovely furnisher and great wallpaper.
Lack of cleanness, with towels not changed for four days, plus they were too small for the bathroom more like hand towels? toilet with someone's poo in it when we arrived, lack of toilet paper a major problem! TV could do with modernizing.
The by-gone charm of the place. Very good food.
Mildew on the shower walls.
beautiful setting, kind friendly staff and very comfortable furnishings.
We had 4 rooms and all were different, such a refreshing change from modern hotels where you wouldn't even know which floor you were on without looking out of the window. Nicely furnished & quiet rural location.
Possibly plumbing could do with updating but not a major concern by any means.
