Is Like A mini chats worth house in Derbyshire. Ideal to get away from hussle and Bussle. Lovely atmosphere.
Would prefer a complimentary tray rather than having to ring room service
Nothing : only wish it was nearer to us , instead of being 150 miles away !.
Beautiful surroundings very picturesque building. Staff excellent Food very good quality, well presented. Expensive but worth it.
The 4 foot six bed was a bit small compared to what we are used to. The spa lacked a sitting area or lounge for after treatment relaxation. Walking from Court bedrooms to main hotel could be a problem in cold weather?
Peace and quiet, fantastic room and grounds.
Suddenly lits of people appeared for dinner , service was slower than expected and perhaps not as fully trained as could have been. Food was actually only average for a good restaurant. We only ate for one night though - not out of choice but had other arrangements .
Location , staff
Food very disappointing
Beautiful room, loved the little kitchen in a cupboard and walk in wardrobe. great spa pool, stunning sitting rooms and dining room in main house, and lovely grounds to wander round. Staff pleasant and helpful.
it was a baking hot weekend and our room was very hot and stuffy at night. No air con or fan. We booked to eat in the spa cafe , but changed our mind as the decor is rather tired- needs a revamp.Had a nice meal in the main restaurant instead.
We booked into the Hartwell Court bedrooms, which at £200 were the cheapest option. I was concerned we’d end up in a damp shed, but the rooms were absolutely lovely. There wasn’t space in the main dining room as I didn’t follow the advice from booking.com to book diner early, but we ate in the spa which had food to match a fine dining restaurant and a lovely terrace to soak up the sun. The pool, Jacuzzi and hot tub were also a hit in the day. I will definitely stay again.
The room was fabulous, the grounds very pictureseque, staff helpful, pleasant and efficient. A serene and restful break.
Would have been nice to have some tea/ coffee making facilities in the room.
The slight initial problem was quickly resolved. Our son ended up paying for breakfast in the Spa when it was included. However Mr Thompson was later contacted and in a very professional and polite manner offered complimentary breakfast for them in the future. Fortunately they only live 10 minutes from the hotel. Thank you Mr Thompson.
Misunderstanding when booking in on behalf of our son and daughter-in-law who had got married the day before.
Had jacket pressed to a very poor standard. Tea tray brought to our room dirty.
It is very tranquil at Hartwell both in the hotel and gardens. The staff are all very kind and helpful and ensure that your stay is as pleasurable as possible. The meals are delicious and beautifully presented. It is a delightful experience to stay there.
A unique experience with every comfort catered for. Wonderful to be transported back in time and live the lavish lifestyle even if only for a very short period.
Nothing to dislike!
the bedroom was very well decorated,in a traditional style, and very well appointed.
room service menu was rather limited other than at peak times.
beautiful property, gardens and historic house, elegant and made to feel comfortable upgrade to a superior room on arrival was a nice surprise
Beautiful house! The room (Royal) had huge windows and a view over parkland. The room was full of artefacts - even in the bathroom a display of two pretty cups and saucers. The staircase! Lots of little snug places - sitting rooms, library to sit and hide away in with a tray of coffee. Wonderful decent sized pool and outside area. Breakfast was delicious. Nice coffee for a change. Dinner good. Very polite staff. Very quick and efficient room service. Very friendly reception staff.
Bed could be more comfy. The tea/coffee tray should be in the room rather than having to ask for it. Some guests probably assume there isn't one. There is and it's included - just ask. Service at dinner a bit pompous and formal but probably better than overly casual. Free DVDs a nice touch but all very old.
Beautiful house and good facilities. Nice room. Good menus and wine list. Good location.
staff training poor. Waited 10 mins for coffee at breakfast. Head waiter was pompous, fawning over some guests and ignoring others. Bar staff didn't have a can do attitude. Pool staff removed towel from sunbed whilst swimming as we are not allowed to reserve! A very formal atmosphere and staff dress but disappointing service levels let it down. Some foreign staff clearly had issues understanding English.
The whole ambience of the hotel and its facilities. Beautiful setting, excellent facilites, good food.
It is difficult to make a criticism but the more senior members of staff were a little regimented and need to be slightly more relaxed.
Good Service throughout our stay
Bath was dirty
A very short stay but super comfortable. What we saw of the grounds were beautiful. The breakfast was excellent with first class service. Want to go back for more than an flying visit...
We had The Queens Room (Rm12), a beautiful antique filled suite. Service was excellent as was the food. Beautiful grounds. A classic grand house made into a comfortable hotel.
The house and grounds-- really lovely and beautifully presented. The sense of history and comfortable lounges. Staff friendly and efficient.
Price of drinks. One rather long wait before dinner.
Liked the relaxing ambience and the spa was excellent
Excellent food, great service & fantastic location
Spa looking a bit tired!!
The staff and food were superb
Lack of lighting from court to main house
