bed, pool, grounds good.
smoke alarm flashed green light all night - kept us awake and eventually managed to cover it up with a plaster. was woken at 8am by housekeeping coming in without knocking...not a good sleep therefore on valentines night.
The grounds, the food, the service, the room and the building generally.
Parking is a bit awkward.
I loved the atmosphere. The rooms were clean and beautifully designed equipped with everything you needed. Although the hotel itself is set away from local shops you have all you need at the spa. Desserts on the menu was especially tasty. I would definitely visit again.
The history of the house the settings the lake the grounds the relaxing atmosphere, the wonderful staff especially the young man Sam? who gave us a tour of the house. The dining room was very impressive and the rooms were fascinating in their splendour and history. We look forward to staying with you again, it will be our third visit and definitely not the last.
The breakfast in the main house and optional in the room, finishes at the uncivilised time of 9.30. The alternative in the spa was very poor. There was insufficient lighting in our room, impossible to read in bed.The standard of cooking needs improving.
the outfit is very imposing and the (very numerous) staff are well trained. They are inobtrusive but always at hand for any requirement.
A grand comfortable house in a wonderful setting. Great venue for a reunion of old friends. The friendliness and attention given by the Hartwell team was second to none.
The staff were very accommodating and friendly. I absolutely loved the scenery and the building itself, just gorgeous. I really enjoyed the evening meal although I unfortunately had a bad reaction to it. The pianist was especially lovely and it set up a lovely vibe for the evening.
There wasn't anything I disliked.
Excellent stay! Loved the house and beautiful grounds to stroll around. Breakfast was superb!
The only small criticism that tea in the room is charged as extra. With no tea-making facilities in the room this seems a bit mean.
Hair in my scrambled eggs. Bar staff delivered the wine by holding the glasses with his fingers around the rim, disgusting and shows lack of proper training. Bedroom poorly serviced.
Despite management's attention, I had no wifi in a courtyard suite for 2 days! Possibly all darained by conferences being held in the SPA(!) next to my room. Smokers from the conferences (SPA!) chose to smoke outside my room on breaks. Totally inconsiderate and unnotice by staff. May I suggest a designated area?!
Lovely building and gardens, well appointed rooms, feels luxurious. Excellent breakfast (try the poached eggs with smoked salmon and brown today!). Friendly and helpful reception staff and general service.
Bar and restaurant staff rather aloof. At £6.50 for an (albeit large: two small bottles) diet coke, I'd expect at least a smile. For breakfast, I didn't have a chance to sit down before being asked what I wanted to eat or even given a menu. Then waitress hovered in middle of restaurant without any eye contact. Close enough to irritate but not to help. I only mention these issues because of what the place aspires to be...a high end/luxury hotel...
Staff were attentive without being intrusive. Grounds and rooms were beautiful. Every comfort possible.
Loved the location and staff fit the feel of the estate.
No telephone shower option
The decor, traditional look and feel, the setting and grounds, food and service, history.
Is Like A mini chats worth house in Derbyshire. Ideal to get away from hussle and Bussle. Lovely atmosphere.
Would prefer a complimentary tray rather than having to ring room service
Nothing : only wish it was nearer to us , instead of being 150 miles away !.
Beautiful surroundings very picturesque building. Staff excellent Food very good quality, well presented. Expensive but worth it.
The 4 foot six bed was a bit small compared to what we are used to. The spa lacked a sitting area or lounge for after treatment relaxation. Walking from Court bedrooms to main hotel could be a problem in cold weather?
Peace and quiet, fantastic room and grounds.
Suddenly lits of people appeared for dinner , service was slower than expected and perhaps not as fully trained as could have been. Food was actually only average for a good restaurant. We only ate for one night though - not out of choice but had other arrangements .
Location , staff
Food very disappointing
Beautiful room, loved the little kitchen in a cupboard and walk in wardrobe. great spa pool, stunning sitting rooms and dining room in main house, and lovely grounds to wander round. Staff pleasant and helpful.
it was a baking hot weekend and our room was very hot and stuffy at night. No air con or fan. We booked to eat in the spa cafe , but changed our mind as the decor is rather tired- needs a revamp.Had a nice meal in the main restaurant instead.
We booked into the Hartwell Court bedrooms, which at £200 were the cheapest option. I was concerned we’d end up in a damp shed, but the rooms were absolutely lovely. There wasn’t space in the main dining room as I didn’t follow the advice from booking.com to book diner early, but we ate in the spa which had food to match a fine dining restaurant and a lovely terrace to soak up the sun. The pool, Jacuzzi and hot tub were also a hit in the day. I will definitely stay again.
The room was fabulous, the grounds very pictureseque, staff helpful, pleasant and efficient. A serene and restful break.
Would have been nice to have some tea/ coffee making facilities in the room.
The slight initial problem was quickly resolved. Our son ended up paying for breakfast in the Spa when it was included. However Mr Thompson was later contacted and in a very professional and polite manner offered complimentary breakfast for them in the future. Fortunately they only live 10 minutes from the hotel. Thank you Mr Thompson.
Misunderstanding when booking in on behalf of our son and daughter-in-law who had got married the day before.
Had jacket pressed to a very poor standard. Tea tray brought to our room dirty.
