The hostel was open all night, so you could come and go as you please. The staff were very helpful and friendly. You could stay up all night watching television in the communal area or you could drink tea or coffee all night too for free. The breakfast was really good too and was included in the price. Numerous cereals, toast, jam, orange juice, teas coffees, endless. I shared a room with others but there was an ensuite shower and toilet between us and the bed itself was pretty comfortable. I had the bottom bunk. The other occupants were also very friendly and young.
I didn't like sharing a room with other people. I didn't find the communal areas very clean. i.e the kitchen and the shower and toilet.
Nice room with clean bathroom
Nice Building, Good in General!
Small kitchen for the amount of users
The peacefulness and attitude of the staff
Good stuff , good to talk to people!
Not very comfort for sleep, some noise can,t avoied!
Reception staff were wonderful, very friendly and helpful.
Internet was not good at all. But everything else was fine!
the continental breakfast and the lounge area which was very spacious and comfortable
Happy with my stay as a whole although on the night that I stayed there was a person staying in the dorm room who was unpleasant in his manner towards to me.
Can't be beaten for price simple as that
Could be cleaner and a lick of paint in areas needed. Noisy at times especially towards weekend. Not good if you have work next day lol
Great little room with a lovely en suite. Bedside locker with bottle of water and biscuits and a lamp, tv wall mounted
Sadly the mattress was not very good- it sunk in the middle and I failed to sleep well. It needs replacing
Room was clean and I liked room with bath room.
Wifi doesn't work well. It can use only rouge but not all the time. No connection in room. They should fix this problem. I had to go to the library.
It is pretty clean, has a TV lounge and a kitchen. WIFI works most of the time. The beds are comfortable, but a little small. The staff at the reception is nice and helpful.
Absolutely no chance of privacy in the 12 bed dorm in the basement. You sleep in a 4 bed cabin without a door or curtains. The shower room is neither spacious nor nice. The toilets aren't really clean. The kitchen policy seemed so strict. You have to label every item of your - if not they just throw it away :/ And some weird and unfriendly people lived there. Very egozentric, but that ain't the hostels fault. I just thought it would be nice to hear something about the vibes ;)
The way the beds were separated to provide privacy
Bathroom became very hot and steamy because there is no ventilation
Everything was awesome
I don't like Sheffield Wednesday
- very suitable for family (we were 2 adults + 4 children) - location - breakfast room with balcony - very nice staff - friendly atmosphere - interesting former industrial building
- room in the basement a bit "wet" but ok.
Good breakfast and 24 hours tea/coffee provision.
Long time guest behaving like headmaster in the common room, e.g. while watching TV.
I liked the considerable effort to take advantage of such a large space. The staff were generally friendly and accomodating.
The lack of perceived management and the inflexibility of the booking system and the uneven pricing and quality of the rooms.
It was the second time in a hostel in birmingham. This time had a much better xperience. The room size was good and was en suite with the best shower ive had. Facilities were good and even had a small entertainment programne on. Well worth going there and will return.
The only moan i have is a very squeaky bed seems to be part and parcel for hostel life.
12 bed rooms divided in 4 bed partitions
smell of the twelve-bed room noise from the common room and kitchen
Not one thing.
Quite good facilities provided with 24/7 tea n coffee
I checked in at about 11.30pm and the guy on reception was so helpful! I did not catch his name but he was very nice. Good continental breakfast, nice facilities, comfy bed.
I stayed at Hatters over night as I had work in Birmingham early on a Sunday and there were no trains early enough. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Walking through the building it looked really interesting with lots of cute cubbyholes for reading but I didn't have much time to explore. Having stayed in a few hostels before I was expecting the basics but was really surprised and happy at what I got. I stayed in a single room as my stay was for work. It was so clean and the bathroom was amazing. Seriously better than most hotels very modern and most importantly clean. There was a tv in the room which was great, no paying for a remote like I've had to in other places, and I even got a bottle of water and a biscuit. The room was small as to be expected and the bed was a single but again spotless. I had a brilliant night sleep and didn't notice any noise. Breakfast was better than expected lots of options and the breakfast room was lovely. The kitchen area was also very clean and big enough so I didn't have to wait to wash up. Staff were again very friendly when I left.
I'm hard pushed to find anything I didn't like. I suppose the window in the room was small but to be honest I've stayed in places where I didn't get a window and paid more. I was really sad that I couldn't stay the next Sunday too as it was fully booked.
Clean, great location, lively atmosphere and friendly staff
City centre noise early in the mornings even on a Sunday
