I loved the pub craw Alex's enthusiasm for it was a big draw! :)
The lift should not only be use for transport of bed linings as it is very disheartening climbing the stairs to the fifth floor and back. The Free Wifi should be available in all the rooms irrespective of the floors.....
The staff was great, especially Alex at reception. The Pub crawls were fun also.
it is very close to the city centre, fantastic position!
it is an hostel, don't expect to be in a 5 star hotel!
It was very well-located, close to Piccadilly Station and the city centre which is very handy when you want to go out and do stuff. The breakfast is pretty basic but is a quick fix and you save a bit of money. There is a TV room and you can play X-box as well. There are also city tours and events so people who haven't been in Manchester before can see the city and have the chance to know other people.
There is not a lift if you are carrying heavy luggage, I think the staff would help you if you needed to but still is a disadvantage. It's says free wifi but actually it is just free in the common areas, if you want internet if your room you have to pay extra.
It's my first time staying in a hostel and Hatters is an excellent choice. The location is great, near market street, Manchester Piccadilly and it obviously located in northern quarter, so its kind of lively. the bed is okay, what you expect from a buck bed anyway, yet I sleep like a log. Common room is great, you literally meet different kind of peoples and there's a lot Spaniard when I was there. I even made friend with a Chinese student. Talk about international atmosphere. Free breakfast, cereals, toast, basic yet better than you must buy first. The staff were good, really helpful. I'll come back again, sometimes.
friendly and helpful staffs. breakfast included. elevator to carry our big luggages. central location
dirty room, toilet didn't flush well. wifi only in common areas. could do better with the shower button as we had to press it every 5sec to continue shower.
Extremely friendly crew.
Abosulutelly perfect and kind staff, modest but very nicely organized breakfast table. Perfect location just in the center of the city, 10 minutes walk from the station. Everything is in order, the reservation, the baggage storage, the Wifi in the social area.
Very noisy old doors (I was in the room 204) and not so comfortable mattress. I had very litlle sleep.
Staff is nice. Location is very convenient.
Room is very small and old. No lift for guest. WIFI is poor on high floor. I don't think it worth a rating of 7+. Maybe 6+ will be more appropriate
The water that I took a shower is cold!
The good part of my stay at Hatters Hostel was the friendly Staff, who were always available to help. Although the bathrooms are Victorian archetypes, they were kept beautifully clean.
The Hatters down fall is the noisy streets of Manchester City Centre and lack of sleep.
I stayed here for a week right after I got done with my Masters in Manchester. I was staying here before I left for home so I had a ton of luggage which was my biggest concern. But their security and storage facilities were very good and I didn't face any trouble with luggage whatsoever! They had a small breakfast every morning and tons of events they organised every evening. I couldn't really take part in a lot of them but it was always good to have that as an option. They have a lovely common area with free wifi, couches, tables, a pool table and a bunch of games - one night I met a group of Spanish people and we ended up drinking some beers and playing Twister which was one of the most fun nights I had! they have a kitchen where you can cook, and sit and eat and stuff - overall I had a great experience, met a bunch of really cool people I hope to stay in touch with, and ended my time in Manchester on a very good note. :)
My dorm was on the 5th floor so I had to use the stairs every time, though I ended up not minding after some time. They take your luggage up and down in the elevators by themselves though! I did feel that 140 pounds for a week was a bit steep considering I used to pay less than that for my private ensuite room where I lived the whole year, but I guess the location makes up for that (and the people you'll meet/experiences you'll have with them!)
Budget friendly and reasonable comfort. Very good location.
Urgently needs refurbishing. Has to improve breakfast quality (to add fresh ingredients perhaps)
Good free breakfast Clean and comfortable rooms Decent social aspect Amazing location
Nothing really that note worthy.
Mattress were good for sleep. location is ideal near railway station.
My credit card was checked by reception staff physically though i paid the money by other means. my argue was that why they are checking my details of card. But they insisted that it is because rules???. washrooms were not having water at 5th floor.
Lockers are too small; Shower room is freezing; Shower is hot as hell, or you burn in the water or you freeze out of it; Shower timer is too short, you have to press that thing dozens of times to get a bath; Staff is not friendly; There's no individual light for each bed in the room; There's 4 energy plugs for 8 beds and they are all at the lower beds, so good luck on that too; Worst hostel I have ever stayed at.
Good location, near Northern Quarter. Good clean rooms, comfy beds (in our twin anyway). Friendly staff and overall good value.
There's no lift for customers and we were on the 5th floor. This was great exercise, but not so good for people with less mobility than we had. Would be worth specifying in advance if you struggle with too much of a stair climb. Showers were on the cold side but bearable.
Old toilet facilities, and not enough of them.
Awesome staff, good light breakfast, great people from around the world, really good nights out on the pub crawls if you do it right dance all night. Made some really good new friends from Spain, France, China and Italy, awesome times.
Being solo I enjoyed the night out with the other guest and the price of my stay allowed me extra cash to really enjoy my weekend
Was there for the united match which was my only downside for the weekend
Really helpful staff, a great atmosphere I loved the setup downstairs and in the leisure areas. Free coffee kept me going through the nights :D
Having to stop playing twister at 4 because closing the kitchen (though it is understandable)
no me gustó NADA
I was enforced to sleep with drank men who were speaking at 4 o’clock in the morning and then they were snoring heavily until 11 o’clock in the morning. I could not sleep. The bed was uncomfortable, the bathroom has not toilet paper and it is old. Too many beds in a small room. Dirty kitchen. The worst hostel I have ever been.
.Cheap, convenient, nice location. Best place for single adults.
A place to sleep for cheap. The night I stayed they happened to have a free dinner, which was okay. The hostel itself was big, so it could accommodate a lot of people. They have a big TV room and a kitchen available for residents to use.
My 10-person female dorm was jam-packed with beds and stuff. I think because the hostel is only £12/night, a lot of people use it for multiple nights, so it's almost as if they moved in with big bags. The doors don't shut quietly and the floors are wooden, so sound travels easily.
