The hotel is in an excellent location being positioned in beautiful countryside but very close to both Gloucester and Cheltenham. The room was very spacious and well appointed. The staff could not have been more helpful.

We have stayed at the hotel about 6 times over the last few years and have always been very happy and satisfied, however, on this visit our first Room No. 1 was cold, the rad, did not work, there was a very ugly stain on the carpet and the room looked a bit shabby and in need of redecoration. We were moved to Room 6 which was fine but did not have your usual edge. The staff did their best but seemed very tired, overworked and not enough of them. This also showed in the quality of the food which was not up to your usual standard.

The location was perfect for us and although there was a marque in the grounds holding a very large party, we were put on the 2nd floor (east wing room 52) and we didn't hear a thing. The room was nice, the dining room was lovely with fantastic views and the breakfast and service was superb, the choice was excellent. We will definitely stop there again when we are in the area next time.

Very christmassy, front of house staff really helpful The extractor fans only stop from 10pm to 6.30am and are very noisy but we had a good nights sleep with a lovely view. There was some debate whether we could have a meal but the food was good

The food was excellent. The staff were very good. Breakfast provided a very wide choice of food and the service was fine. Our room was quite big and comfortable. Service at dinner was abysmal - 45 minutes for the main course to arrive. Vegetables were very frugal, more symbolic than nutritional. On the Saturday night there was a large party and I think that took all the attention of the kitchen - hence the delays - though, on reflection, service was nearly as slow on the Friday.. Our sleep was disturbed for an hour or so by loud music. The bathroom had no extractor fan and the secondary-glazed window was high over the bath and hard to open for anyone under six feet tall. The shower unit was falling to bits and adjusting the temperature of the water was a pain.

The comfort and service at this hotel was of a good standard and we particularly enjoyed the choice and quality of the food at breakfast and dinner. The hotel has character and is in a good location for visiting Gloucester or the Cotswolds. Our recently refurbished bedroom was very attractive with lovely pictures on the walls.

Large comfortable room. Nice building. Countryside walks nearby. Suspicious atmosphere. Had to sign on a paper with with my credit card number on it right on reception, and to sign on a breakfast bill before our orders were taken.

The hotel was in a very quiet location, and the room very comfortable. The restaurant menu was varied and very well presented, and the staff friendly without being intrusive. 3Pm check in is too late. The majority of hotels have a 2pm check in, and in most cases allow you to book in earlier if the room is ready.

Elevated position over looking the town. Cotswold Stone front to hotel. The large bath and comfortable beds. Long views from the bedroom. Inflated cost of drinks and varying quantaties of fish for the same main course and the chef should know how to poach an egg (breakfast) a hard dry yoke is not good.

Very pleasant hotel and staff in a superb location. Unfortuantely, some other residents felt it was acceptable to use their mobiles during dinner in the dining room. I would have liked to see the staff have a discete word with them to make it clear that this was very unfair on the other guests.

We liked the location of the hotel. It was very calm and peaceful. We also liked the cleaniness of the rooms and the staff were very helpful and polite. We really enjoyed our stay but our only advice is to have some kind of entertainment in the hotel.

HAving been there 15 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, again it did not disapoint. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was brilliant. There was a wedding on the Saturday night which made the bar area busy and noisy (even though we understand they had their own bar in the marquee) unfortunately it did make service in the bar and restaurant slower than the previous evening, but even so it didn't spoil our stay.

Good location but not the easiest to find When I arrived the luxury room that I had booked through booking.com with a reference number wasn't recognised and the room was taken. They gave me and my wife the only other room they had available which was on the top floor in an Annex with 2 flights of stairs. The room was okay but not what we had booked or hoped for.

The Hotel was beautiful and set in a fantastic location, the staff were very polite, pleasent and helpful. Our room was perfect, very comfy and complete with all the amenities you could need. The food in the resturant was gorgeous, one of the best meals we've had in a long time. My only slight negative was that the shower was not very powerful and it was hard to get it to an adequate temperature.

“The location of Cardynham House was good for a visit to the Cotswolds. The room was very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was very well cooked and presented and there was a good wine list. It was a shame it was closed on Sunday evening and Monday. The breakfast was very good and definetly set you up for the day. The staff were very pleasant and helpful We had a very enjoyable stay and would book again when in the area.” Dawn, Durrington |
