Haweswater Hotel  

The setting of the hotel was perfect. The ambience of the place was great. We thoroughly enjoyed it!

The hotel could benefit from a quality revamp. The midges!

This hotel was lovely, we had a lovely visit, the hotel and staff were welcoming. the views are outstanding. food was excellent. stayed in room 6 lake side view, it was lovely, room clean and lovely decorated.

A superb location and good food. We had a great view out over Haweswater and enjoyed watching the red squirrels from the restaurant window. Made to feel very welcome

We visited the Haweswater Hotel about 30 years ago and it is just the same, and to see the Red Squirrels was fantastic.

We had the bedroom at the back with no view of the Lake, so next time we will make sure to have bedroom at front of Hotel.

The hotel was situated on the reservoir, and had lovely views. It was fantastic to be able to sit in the restaurant and outside and watch the red squirrels playing and feeding. All of the staff were friendly and did their best to ensure that needs were met. The menu for dinner was good (as was the food) and it was resonably priced

The room we were in needed some TLC. It was very tired and much of the wallpaper was peeling off the walls and the paint was flaking off the ceiling. The breakfast service was very disjointed and slow (probably partly due to under staffing - there were 2 staff and 8 full tables) and the breakfast itself did not match the quality of the evening meal.

The hotel is quirky! Original 1930s features and decor made the communal areas comfortable. Red squirrels busy in the grounds all day - a real feature. Fantastic position and views.

The hotel was full and we had a very small L shaped room at the top of the building. Saved by a beautiful view and spacious bathroom.

Peace & Quite Nice setting Ideal for two nights Pleasant Staff Wi Fi

A bit remote & isolated. Went out for day from 10.30 to 16.30 room hadn't been serviced ! ran out of sausages!!!!! For breakfast. House keeping not the best cob webs stayed in en suite for 5 days! Workmen in kitchen for guests to see! Tv reception very poor not many channels! Would hardly call it satellite television

Having to carry cases up two flights of stone stairs in the rain because wasn't allowed to park near reception door to unload, then had to carry luggage up to top floor !Bottom of pine bed was damaged so being 6ft 5 my feet was resting on damaged rough wood all night! The mattress was extremely hard so unable to get a good nights sleep , also bathroom light did not work and the toilet did not flush properly!

The location was brilliant. The staff were very good, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent. Comfortable lounges to relax in. The view from the window was lovely.

Our room was advertised as a double with lake view. We consider it should have been a single, as my 70 year old husband had to climb over me to get into bed as the bed was against the wall. The furniture was cheap and needs to be replaced with better quality. We felt the room was overpriced.

We had a pleasant surprise as we were upgraded to a suite, the view from the room were amazing both of lake and garden and trees. We are both wild life fanatics and were not disappointed with red squirrels and birds. We dont get away very often but the one night stay made our 17th Wedding anniversary very speacial. Hope we get the opportunity to return.

Only problem was television in room kept going off or to black and white when telly had been on for 20 mins or so.

Location spectacular - best in the uk. Isolation fantastic. Food wonderful. Staff lovely- a bit like a nice faulty towers !!

one or two fittings needed attention bit off a climb to top floor bedrooms you do need to be a bit fit to make it if you stay more than one night

The food was excellent for dinner and breakfast. The red squirrels outside the dining room window at breakfast was absolutely fantastic.

I was too warm in the bedroom but we were able to open the window.

Choice of food and drinks was very good, rooms were well equipped

No welcome information on arrival, nothing given about restaurant times etc, had to pick it up from notices displayed. Had an accident, burnt elbow on excessively hot radiator, no warning signs, when informed reception, reply "you could turn it off" was not really appropriate

The bed was old and the springs completely worn out. The food was expensive and mediocre. The room had an intermittent clicking sound above the bed.

Warm , friendly. layed back. lovely room, beautiful views, fabulous bathroom and comfy bed, good food in the evening and breakfast.

A very small bedroom , no extractor fan shower room , no means of turning the radiator of it went from 22 to 40 degrees in a room of 4x3 ,when my wife and I showered together we then found we had no towels which was not very good having to go to reception asking for towels wet through.. No tele in room. Very average food , refused to pay for 1 dessert poor.
