The hotel is in a beautiful location with spectacular views from the bar, restaurant and terrace. The interior has an art deco vibe which is unusual and very pleasing. Our room was smallish but comfortable with a big bed that was stylish but too low and a bit hard. The television was a huge HD flat screen with a limited selection of channels. Our bathroom had no bath (which fine as we knew about that) but had a really lovely deluge of a shower with copious hot water. The other fixtures and fittings were of a very high standard of quality. The hotel was in the process of a major renovation so some of the corridors were building sites. Our room was at the rear of the hotel and as such had a view over an unattractive slope rather than the gorgeous lakes and hills at the other side of the building. Food was not as good as expected. Breakfast was pretty bog standard - failed my "sausage test" with a ordinary bland banger but the bacon was good. Dinner was nicely presented but no better than ordinary otherwise. Overall our stay at Haweswater was enjoyable but overpriced. |

The location is good, very remote with no other building in the whole valley. Quiet & peacefull during the evening (not so much during the day, when staff breifings and hotel business take place in the hotel lobby instead of behind closed office doors). The place was oversold in every aspect but location. It is basically run as a small b&b, but advertised and priced as a luxury hotel. Only stay if you don't mind staying somewhere that is run for the conveniece of the management instead of for the comfort of the guests - such things as bed linen is changed every third night, towels left on the floor of the bathroom are re-hung for re-use, dinner is on a strict regime between 6.30 and 7.45, breakfast between 8.30 and 9.30 sharp. I felt like I was in a boarding house. The place was being renovated, but that's ok, I was not inconvenieced by that at all. Oh, and the web site has incorrect statements such as "all suites have a balcony", which is not true. So, a nice week spoiled unfortunately. |

The staff were all so friendly, the food was excellent. The views from the hotel were wonderful and the peacefulness was out of this world. In the evening to sit in the private lounge with a drink, reading the daily newspapers with classical music playing with a beautiful view over the lake really was a treat. |

Beautiful views, friendly and helpful hotel staff, a relaxing retreat perfect if you want to get away from it all. The breakfast was lovely and the rooms were comfortable. as the hotel is a little way out of anywhere it is not reccommended if you want to be near shops, pubs etc especially as the doors close at 11am however it was perfect for what we wanted |

Gorgeous setting with amazing wildlife, fantastic food, friendly staff and incredibly peaceful - couldn't recommend highly enough. The hotel is undergoing renovations which are not disruptive but it does mean that some rooms are still waiting for redecoration and look a bit tired. |

The location, the hotel itself and its setting and the high standard of quisine. Being so isolated, which is a plus, I feel the rooms need television for long evenings after dinner. |

The location of the hotel is literally second to none in the UK, amazing view from the bedroom window. The Art Deco public areas and dining room are also really lovely. Food was excellent, and the collection of local history books were really interesting. The staff were also really friendly and helpful. Once beyond the public areas, the decor was tired and shabby. Cheap pine furniture and peeling paint in the rooms don't really demand £100 + a night. |

An interesting building in a beautiful secluded valley; a greater sense of personal attention through being privately run. |

The food was fantastic. The open fires are excellent features. Very poor showing from male staff (robot like) |
