our jacuzzi bath was nice and the tv in the bathroom was a nice extra but unfortunately the reception was very poor so wasnt able to watch anything on it. The bedroom tv wasn't any better either and that was also a shame. its not really a complaint but i think a mirror in the bedroom somewhere would be useful for ladies using straightning irons or hairdryers!! also it wasn't very nice to see broken chairs on our balcony or the scaffolding, but im guessing that was only a temporary issue.

Absolutely lovely. All bedrooms modernised to a high standard including bathrooms. Art deco original style downstairs. Mobile phone access not good but the hotel provides free wi fi with no problems! Food good. Lovely breakfast spent watching red squirrels, woodpeckers etc at bird tables only feet away. No sound, no light pollution. True peace and quiet in an outstanding area of natural raw beauty. Definately go again. In the afternoon we watched a golden eagle only a few miles away! Fantastic stay.

A hidden Gem !! Wonderful location a beautiful 1920's art deco hotel, beautiully decorated with many original features. The food was excellent the best a hotel can offer, beautifully presented and excellent tasting, very acomplished chef. Breathtaking views from the front and side of the hotel, would recommend for walkers and a romantic break to get away from it all, will be back !!!

My wife and I have just spent an idyllic 2 nights at the Haweswater Hotel, a surprise birthday treat for her. The situation (down the long country/lakeside road) makes it ideally situated for glorious views, peace and tranquility. The accommodation, bedrooms, public rooms, food and service were first class. The staff, Justin, Michael and Sarah, were also first class. They were professional, caring, friendly and courteous. The frosty non-light polluted night sky and the red squirrels feeding on the lawn at breakfast time were the icing on the birthday cake. We would recommend this hotel without hesitation. Television reception is not perfect here due to its location. Don't go to watch the news.......switch it off and go for the romance!

The location! The hotel is located right across from the lake and the view of the mountains and the lake is just beautiful! It's secluded yet you can get to a few pubs easily. I am definitely visiting in the summer again!

The location is very nice; however the hotel felt a little "tired" E.G. cracked glass window in our room. Most dissapoinitng was the lack of welcome as we arrived early evening on the 29/12/11 and there 3 staff standing around the reception and none spoke a word of welcome or made any conversation. Very negative experience. Breakfast was decent and staff more friendly.

We liked just about everything about it! Welcoming, friendly staff, comfortable room with a splendid bathroom and a view over the lake. The original art deco features give it a wonderful atmosphere. The evening meal was delicious but the highlight was enjoying a tasty breakfast whilst being entertained by red squirrels and birds feeding right outside the dining room window. Where else could you eat breakfast within 5 feet of a red squirrel?

Lovely location and building. The hotel is completely cut off from cicilisation which was lovely but nothing laid on by hotel to keep you occupied. I was a little disappointed with the limited menu for the resteraunt in the evening, although the breakfast in the morning was wonderful. We would sit at breakfast watching red squirrels and woodpeckers. That doesnt happen often! Definately would recommend a stay, fantastic value for money. Only issue was that it was advertised that you had a tv but we didnt have one, which on the evening would have been nice due to being 9miles from nearest town. It meant that I had to talk to him indoors more!

The location The staff, the hotel can not cater for all guests so some had to drive 4 miles for a meal. The room decor, the rattling windows all night long, the breakfast service. Peeling wallpaper in room. Dead spider next to the bed.

The best thing about haweswater hotel was the location. When we booked this, we didnt do any research. But when we arrived there, we loved it. We booked in for 3 days, but ended up staying 8 days. The beautiful mountain views in the morning, are breathtaking. The peace of getting away from city life. The staff were brilliant. The local people are friendly, and the food was lovely wherever we went. We deffinately will be going back there. An absolutely beautiful location to stay, even though it is a little out of the way. But for a quiet break, its great! We didnt want to leave, but christmas came in the way. Will go back very very soon. Thank you haweswater, and especially to the good hearted staff, who made our stay there special.

The hotel has a great feel of the period when it was built - 1930's - with the added luxury of a very modern bathroom. The food is superb. Where else can you watch red squirrels outside your window as you eat breakfast!
