On arrival we were told on New Years eve the hotel bar would be shot at 6pm and restaurant closed We had come for that purpose what kind of hotel are you that cannot offer a meal on the special night of the year 200 miles return on the same day isn't our idea of a good hospitable hotel
The staff restaurant and golf course we're great and l personly thank the chef for the excellent food
Hotel looks alittle tired
Staff and food excellent
The building looked tired outside and needs a good coat of paint. Huge spider in bedroom and net curtains in need of either a good wash or replacing. No Wifi reception in room
Reception & bar staff
Decore looking dated and the rooms needs to be revamped
Nice hotel. Now 3rd visit.
The staff need training. Had to ask for everything during evening meal. Wasn't offer anything.
THE ONLY THING I LIKED WAS EXITING THE CAR PARK ON MY WAY HOME.
NO SHOWER! BROKE WITH THE HEAD LEFT IN BATH! TWIN BEDS INSTEAD OF DOUBLE! SPIDERS AND MOTHS ROLLED UP IN THE BATHROOM BLIND DOOR KNOB THAT WAS DATED AND COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR...ROOM SMELT OF OLD PEOPLE MUSKY. LAST DECORATED AT LEAST 40 YEARS? SHAMBLES ABSOLUTE DISGRACE OF A PLACE.
shower didnt work, they proposed a room nearby for a hour to shower. 3am someone was running naked with just a towel around his waste, knocking all the doors. My sis forgot to lock her door and this man entered in her room. we tried several times to call night reception, no one answered. the following day, they could not explain why there was nobody answering. They really had a night reception. They looked at us if we were lying. bad experience overall.
Staff were friendly and efficient
Cleanliness and facilities in bedroom were poor. Food was distinctly average
Quirky, simple and clean accommodation in a great location.
In need of some external building maintenance. But internally fine.
the view,The staff were very friendly.
The hotel was very tired and needed painting also the skirting was coming of in my room, windows needed cleaning. The menu was also very limited,
Very friendly and helpful staff, food was excellent.
The room was very close to hotel and kitchen fans which went on till late, and started very early.
Hawkstone although location and golf course were beautiful, I feel that hotel was a little dated and was in need of threshining up in places.
Pleasant location and grounds
1. There was a noisy wedding 2. Noise in an adjacent room until 2.30am 3. Single beds in a double room 4. Very poor quality bed
good food, and service
The corridors to the rooms need some TLC. Also ome of the rooms also need redecoration, room 208 bathroom past its best despite the room being OK.
amazing natural landscape and gardens on the doorstep. great golf course. nice hotel golf course with emphasis on the golf side rather than the hotel. Good food locally sourced small menu of well prepared dished in the restaurant and some local ales in the bar.
only very minor criticisms as the positives more than made up for them. no gym no pool. this place sees a lot of golfers and is a bit of time warp feels a tiny bit tired but everything is properly presented and well turned out
All was great from as soon as we arived. The staff were first class. The room was fine for the price, clean, plenty of tea and coffee. We found the towells eventually!!! It was great to be on the ground floor as I have troublde with a bad hip. Food was very good and a nice choice. All served by polite frendly staff. Shame they didnt have name tags on in the restuarant and we could have mentioned them by name. Allin all a lovely visit and am already saving to go again.
The hotels dercoration is a little tired. window sills outside peeling etc. Also as a Wedding was due that day I felt that the grounds arround the reception could have been cleaned up. An apple core was on a table, a plastic bottle rolling around and plastic bag flying about and the ever annoying cigaret buts!
Super beds, excellent food and free golf.
Would have liked a comfy chair in the room.
pleasant grounds and reasonable bar snacks
being woken at 1.00pm by very drunk and foul mouthed adjoining guests. Event ually had to complain and duty manager did shut them up and got them to turn off their loud music by 2.00pm however we were woken again repeatedly at hourly intervals by loud and at times foul-mouthed guests returning to their bedrooms. Clearly a location for middle aged men to get extremely and unpleasantly drunk but not, in consequence, suitable for other guests
sorry external state of the hotel
The hotel was nice and staff will recomend it to ex hubby he likes golf, area nice,
I was very surprised at the state of the door to our room and entrance paint peeling badly, room small and very hot and loo handle dicy ,for the price not good enough
quiet location.good breakfasts.free wifi
windows which needed a bit of tlc and repair did not open enough when we stayed on a fairly hot couple of days.not all bbc tv and radio channels were available.
Friendly staff (especially Pauline), clean room and lovely location
Excellent location for the fabulous golf course.
Room was very dirty mould growing in the bathroom, carpets had large stains the room needed an industrial clean.
room clean and comfy.
windows unable to open.noise from function until the early hours.another room taking a early morning shower with the noise from the power shower unable to sleep past 6.30am.but breakfast was very poor asked for poached eggs and was unable to eat them as the whites were runny and so under cooked
Lovely country setting and helpful staff.
Urgently in need of renovation.
