The area where the Christmas tree was with the fire and the area we ate breakfast. The bed, which is a tempur mattress. Also the setting is very pleasant and the hotel is ususally nice and quiet. The bathroom was very tired and this did not matter, because it was clean, but the shower was old and hard to operate and control and ended up with water going on the floor. This has happened before. We then have to mop it up. |

We liked the fact that they gave us the coach house which was seperate to the main hotel. They told us that this was because they had a murder mystery weekend on and we would be less likely to be disturbed in the coach house. |

The staff were very friendly and helpful and bar prices were reasonable. The locaton was good as it was near to bus stops for the city and the cab fare from the city centre after a night out was affordable. The bathroom wasn't as clean as I would have liked. There were hairs on the floor and in the bath. Some of the soft furnishngs in the room were a litttle worse for wear. |

The staff were excellent, really helpful and pleasant. They are this hotel's big asset. It needs refurbishing. The bathroom was truly awful |

Really comfortable bed. hotel set in quiet village with easy access to riverside for walking/jogging etc.Short bus ride from town centre. buses every ten minutes. Only one bar staff on duty on a Friday night. This led to waiting to get served as he was continually leaving his post to stock shelves and supply drinks to function room nearby. In contrast saturday night saw three staff members on duty in a very confined bar area. Hotel literature referred to a jogging route but member of staff was not sure of it although admitting having previously asked the same question. |

Nice and friendly staff. Price was good -- cheapest compared to most hotels in Oxford. Hotel situated in a quiet area, 10 minutes bus journey to city centre (£1.80 single). Elm House has a nice and contemporary style. However, I recommend guests to check carefully upon arrival at hotel rooms. They have had theft in the Elm House not long ago. Besides, the room that I was previously put into (Rm. 412) has a massive gap underneath the door. It really was massive! Besides, they don't have lockers facilities inside all the rooms. So safety at the Elm House is an issue. Be very careful. Request to stay at the main building if possible. |

Maybe our tenth visit to this hotel while visiting our student son. Avoid the hideous traffic of Oxford and catch a regular bus in to the centre, enjoy the city and bus/taxi back. Always leave feeling content. Never really feel like trying anywhere different....very unlike us! |

The food was excellent with quick, courteous service and the beds were extremely comfortable as in all the reviews I read before booking. Checkout experience not good - very slow with only one person trying to check out numerous guests as well as answer the telephone whilst his superior was visible just next door looking at a computer screen |

The staff at Recertion were very helpful and friendly considering we had checked in half an hour early. The man at reception gave us very good directions to work along the river to Oxford which was a much nicer way to walk than along the main road.. We enjoyed our stay. The Restaurant was rather expensive. |

The rooms were very clean and well layed out. It made us really feel like we had left home behind, in a comforting way. The breakfast was very tasty and filling; even better was the fact that this was included in the price! The rooms were quite warm, and became almost muggy when someone had had a shower. It is also a little far from the city centre for people without a car; it cost us an average of £8 on each taxi journey to and from the hotel. |

pleasant staff, excellent breakfast We were at first given a room supposedly non-smoking, which smelt strongly of smoke. However it was readily changed for another, which was very nice. |

Nice room and good location They should sort out their slamming doors. The "award winning" restaurant was a joke it was like eating in a badly decorated green house although the breakfast was good. |

The hotel is very tired and the staff were not welcoming on our arrival. They failed to look at our booking form at to the request that a cot materess was required for our 3 year old. we were made to feel that we had tried to hide her presence until I pointed out not only that I written I had also phoned. Once they acknowledged this a cot was put in the room minus proper sheeting and cover. We were not made to feel welcome. |

Good value for money. Good size room, comfortable, good food although limited menu. Staff friendly and helpful most of the time. Good setting in own grounds with nice conservatory bar room. Didn't seem to be any one member of staff / manager overseeing the hotel. Certain member's of staff seemed inexperienced / not trained. When sitting in the lounge in the evening, would have been nice for someone to have been walking round taking drinks orders, rather than going to the bar and waiting for staff to return. (Toilet seat in need of being replaced - this stuck out in what was otherwise a good and clean bathroom!). |
