Score from 627 reviews Very good
Staff were fantastic and helpful. The restaurant was excellent
That the only credit card facilities that were working were AMEX
We requested an early check in as we had a wedding to attend and needed to change into our wedding attire and we were accommodated at 11 am which was great. Breakfast choice for me was kedgeree which was really lovely.
The mattress had a plastic cover on it which was horrible to sleep on. I slept very badly as a result.
Been before only this time had two doubles and a family room which was amazing. Child had her own area within main room but no safety issues or invasion of privacy,.recommended
No spa facilities
Receptionists were helpful. The room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Good parking facilities and lovely grounds.
The dinner was expensive and the vegetarian menu was poor. The breakfast buffet was limited and was not topped up.
Nice size rooms ,good location, nice and clean ,good breakfast
Foam mattress ,
Restuarant food, quality of breakfast, bedroom location, bath and black out curtains. Friendlyness of all staff. The hotel was ideally situated just off the river bank pathway into Oxford and proved ideal for a nice stroll into Oxford.
Breakfast staff were largely unsupervised/untrained? which lead to incomplete cutlery/crockery on the tables plus I always had to ask for more orange juice and breakfast breads (I'd expect the staff to check these as they walk past these areas regularly and should spot and top up without being prompted)
As a wedding venue it was great, the staff were very friendly, and spoke English very well, I mean those not of this country, other wise very good
Parking was a lottery, bed hard, general maintenance of the bath room, could improve, had too remove the pop up plug to let the water out, of the bucket type sink, which needed two gallons of water before you could wash
This hotel exceeded all my expectations, sky tv, bathrobes, safe, iron and ironing board, free bottled water, tea and coffee tray and a very good breakfast selection including eggs benedict!! And locally sourced products.
The bed was a little hard for my preference
Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was excellent. Very nice setting in well kept grounds. About a fiver into the centre of Oxford by taxi. Very clean.
We had a nice room (113), very spacious. The breakfast was very good.
During our stay, the cleaning staff did not clean our room / bathroom.
- lovely spot away from the city -Good parking -this was our second visit and the room was in the main building -better than the one in the house at the back
-breakfast was disappointing. Had run out of Muesli and was told that was all there was for today. Limited selection when compared to other places we have been staying.
Area is very pretty Friendly staff Very nice garden to sit and read a book Quiet Pub close by
You have to take the bus to town. It takes 10-15 min
Quiet location in a beautiful village.Large bedroom with garden view. Ease of access to city of Oxford.
Menu very limited for dinner Lack of fruit and fresh veg/salad Breakfast very poor selection for continental Full English unappetising. Bar unmanned on many occasions.
Quality for money
service was very good, and the staff very friendly.
the food was not as good as we had hoped for.
Lovely hotel. Location is perfect. Really nice walk along the river into Oxford. Rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. Bed is amazing - really comfortable. The staff are all polite and helpful. Asked for a quiet room and thats exactly what we got.
There was a wedding on and although it didnt really affect us in the day when we went into the bar on the evening for a drink we couldnt get a seat until the wedding party went off into the function room.
Excellent staff. Our room was very good although not in the main hotel. The food was well presented
Very limited menu. Menu never changed from day one. We had four evening meals and a lunch all off the same menu. The fact that there is no where near by to get a meal means that you are tied to the hotel menu.
The hotel was immaculate with first class facilities. From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome and everything was very comfortable. We were so impressed that I have booked the hotel for our family weekend next year when all family members get together for a weekend at a different location every year. So far we have done York, Lincoln, Brighton, Cambridge and Wells. This hotel convinced us that Oxford is next years venue.
There was nothing not to like.
Room 110 - extractor fan in bathroom was going on and off throughout the night even though the light was off (otherwise top marks for everything!)
Pretty rooms; welcoming atmosphere; Nice breakfasts and very helpful staff at reception and in the dining room.
Inconsistency over the cleaning of my room. One day it was later than 3.15 pm and another it was about 9.30 a.m. (if I remember correctly.)
Room Nice and clean
Staff not sympathic
very comfortable bed - slept wonderfully. directions to hotel on web page were easy to follow good choice of breakfast
room much too hot - even with window wide open. Didn't appear any way to cool it down. drinks expensive
