Good location within 15 minute walk down a hill to Buxton town centre. Friendly and helpful owners. Place to store our bikes in shed outside. Homemade jams and marmalade at breakfast. Good selection at breakfast, but you need to actually request an alternative to the Full English (if you want one) which includes fried bread and fried eggs, as you are not offered alternatives or a choice automatically.
Originally we were allocated Room 4 which was okay, but rather less luxurious than we expected for the price £80 per night. The bathroom was not nice at all, just a long thin room. The bed was shockingly uncomfortable with a very old mattress which had been covered over with a cheap mattress topper. This was the worst mattress we have ever encountered in accommodation of this price (or indeed lower). On complaining, the owners quickly moved us to room 7, which had a better bed and was better appointed with a nicer bathroom. However, this room was rather noisy as it had a cottage overhead, so very creaky floorboards above and thin walls through which you could easily hear the television and talking.
Within walking distance of town centre and a few nice pubs. Breakfasts were awsome. So much choice. Bedrooms warm and cosy with no noisy neighbours
Lovely full breakfast Own entrance to room Country style dining room
Springs in bed twanging and could feel them through the bed, no wifi and tiny TV , room was freezing when we arrived , did warm up but took a couple of hours
Great hosts x very accommodating x lovely breakfast x
Style of room and breakfast room friendly staff good breakfast
noise from adjoining bathroom
The location was lovely as were the old buildings making up the accommodation. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were extremely friendly, informative and welcoming.
The bedsprings were a little lively!
The service was excellent. We were in Buxton for a wedding and left our car at the venue on the Saturday evening and the man who owns Hawhtorn Farm took me to collect it on the Sunday morning which was very helpfull. The breakfast was excellent setting you up for the day. We would love to return to the area to see a bit more and will definately stay at Hawthorn Farm.
Lovely comfortable room, very tasty breakfast with a good selection.
Location, facilities and the people running the B&B.
Nearness to restaurants and shops. The fact that the building is a 450 historic barn we found very interesting. The breakfast was made to order and very good (owner is a chef). Bathrooms are recently new and modern. Enclosed porch was very nice on rooms 3 and 4 that we had. The picnic table in the garden was a nice place to sit for tea upon return from a day's outing. Must like vintage furniture.
Everything was likable. We had a great experience.
We were showing up late and called the previous day to say we would arrive late and then to let them know we were on our way on the day. The owners were so very nice about it. Very welcoming and friendly! The room was lovely and had everything we needed for our overnight stay. The bed was comfy and everything was absolutely spotless! I would certainly recommend this establishment!
I especially liked the friendly and informative owner. She entertained us with interesting historical stories and gave us worthwhile travel tips. The farm dining room was beautifully decorated, and breakfast was delicious.
with my wife and her 91yr mother we had a very nice 3 night stay lovely breakfast such a old world charm loved all the china chickens and bric a brack Fiona so pleasant would come back again if in the area very nice.
Liked the history of the building, dipping through the door, the uneven floors added to the character. The quilted bedspreads added to the feel of the place.
Need the shower room updating
The staff were friendly, helpful & flexible.
Friendly owners. Gorgeous breakfast with homemade jams. A cosy place to spend the night.
Very friendly owners Good location Nice breakfast
Room was a bit small for 3 and a bit 'worn' - smelt musty. En-suite shower was tiny.
Comfy queen size bed and quiet surrounding area. Breakfast quite good, nice coffee and tea, love the different variety homemade jam! Overall not too bad at all as we only stayed one night.
cushion and bed cover are quite old, carpet and room are bit dated.
Location, staff, and food.
Rooms could do with a bit more attention to detail regarding the cleaning.
room a good size, breakfast very good with plenty of choice/
a little cramped in the bathroom
Breakfast was lovely, hosts were very friendly and helpful. Easy check-in and not far from town centre.
Room very tired, dusty dried flower arrangements, cheap mattress (you could feel the springs), needed updating. Not worth the fee we paid.
No particular dislikes
Really friendly owners Great breakfast
