Warming up the room was not sufficient. Better beds would be a good idea.

The communal areas were filthy and smelly. The room was very basic but clean.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Couldn't do enough to make me feel at home. Fabulous breakfast - all served in a delightful large conservatory/dining room. Good location and plenty of free parking - provided you arrive fairly early. Otherwise plenty of free street parking. Ok, this is no Hilton hotel but for the money it was clean, comfortable and functional and it was nice to see a trouser press in my room - something lacking in many higher priced establishments. I shall certainly be staying again when next in the area.

Hotel was noisy with the rising and departures of early morning guests. I didn't appreciate being woken at 5am in the morning! However, I guess you cannot blame the Hotel for this. Would have liked a restaurant on site but there were plenty of good restaurants within walking distance. A bar would also have been nice.

The staff I met were very friendly and keen for me to enjoy my overnight stay. The single room was clean, warm, well furnished and comfortable.

I have come to expect toiletries even in budget hotel bedrooms and in this single room there was not even soap in the dispenser. The continental breakfast was very limited and therefore overpriced. If I go again to South Croydon I will stay at this hotel but I'll choose the cooked breakfast and take my own soap, shower gel and shampoo.

We went in the afternoon to book ourselves in but the room they showed whasnt anything like the internet pictures. In the evening I went to have a look my self and apparently the knew we were not very happy with the fist room, so they showed us a different room. Also not a great room. Then a third room which we where also not impressed with so I told the guy that we would look somewhere else, in which he said there is another room on the ground floor. On first it look decent (not great) but acceptable. So we checked in and went for a meal. When we came back and wanted to wash and go to bed there was no hot water, the toilet didnt flush and there were holes in the sheet. Immediately i went to get assistence, but the couldt do much about the toilet or sheets at that point (water just had to be switched on......). I told the guy that we will check out first thing in the morning as it is allmost midnight. In the morning we packed our bags and walked to the desk where there was a grumpy guy who didnt understand why we wanted to check out. the younger guy was much more helpfull and allready spoke to the owner and arranged that we could check out and get our money back for the next two nights.....so we did have to pay for the night we staid in a dirty room with a toilet that didnt flush (repaired it myself) and where we couldnt have a warm shower in the evening......not a great place to stay!!!!

Quiet area and comfortable

Hotel was clean and tidy staff very friendly as on my arrival for my second visit I was greeted by my name. Plenty of amenities close by ie pubs and restaurants. Parking was not restricted as plenty of spaces available.

The hotel has a lovely garden, very leafy and pleasant. It has a conservatory where breakfast is served looking out over the garden. It was quiet and pleasant on the Friday night/Saturday morning I was there. It is well situated for access into Croydon - there was also parking available on the streets outside, which is mainly a residential area. The rooms are quite basic, but clean and decent. I had a nice large bathroom included in the price which was reasonable.

The staffing was minimal over the weekend - although it did not cause a problem as the young man on duty was very helpful and friendly.

I always prefer to stay in independent hotels rather than a chain, but I have to say as the Premier Inn would have been £9 cheaper I really wish I had stayed there instead. This hotel is the worst I've ever stayed in in terms of comfort & facilities. The whole place appears to be un- touched since the 80's - clearly the owners have no interest in investing their money! The shower head was broken, so we had to hold it to wash...surely the cleaner would pick up on these things? Most of the light bulbs needed replacing. The mattress was so uncomfortable, we kept rolling into the middle! As a result I didnt get much sleep. There were no teaspoons to make the cheap unbranded tea/coffee which was awful. The bed covers, furniture and design were very old fashioned. The room had a musky smell & the bathroom dorma window hasnt been cleaned for years and was full of yellow dewy scum. How can this place justify £89 per night and expect good feedback!

Beds were hard and very uncomfortable. Did'nt realise they had a bar until the morning. Traffic noise quite loud.

value for moneey

I arrived to find a lot of white vans outside and had to park around 150m up the street. However, there was plenty of on street parking and my car was perfectly safe for the two nights I stayed. The receptionist was welcoming and friendly and my en-suite room wasn't luxurious but was for good value for London, bearing in mind the sum I paid for a twin room. I would stay there again. The hotel is a bit faded but does the job and was the only place I found that charged an affordable sum.

Nothing in particular - more on-site parking would be helpful but not possible, given its location in a residential area.

It was geographically close to where I was working otherwise nothing at all

I didnt like it all and would never stay there again, The wifi wasnt in operation, the TV didnt work properly, the beds were uncomfortable as were the pillows, the breakfast was very average at best, the soap in the bathroom wasnt topped up when it ran out...etc etc and the staff had to be be cajoled into being helpful.

I think a slightly better selection of beer would better qualify them to call the "bar" a "Bar"!! Only having Fosters lager, to me, is the worst selection they could have made. I would have preferred Stella while my colleague would have preferred Guiness
