Haymarket Hotel    

Good sized rooms. Value for money. Excellent breakfast. Clean with friendly staff.

No coffee in room only tea.

Room was clean and comfortable. Public areas also perfectly fine. Location was ideal for my purposes on this visit.

Headline price did not include breakfast. I did not realise that till I arrived. Hotels should routinely give a B&B rate.

Location, location for city and airport bus. Food good too.

Location of the hotel is very convenient, almost in downtown. Easy access from the airport by Airbus. Very helpful and friendly serivce staff. Tiny room but quiet. Electronic kettle, coffee and tea is a very good idea in Edinburgh cold climate.

Single room is exclusively for one. Hardly any space for visiting guest.

It is a real nice building with lots of potential just not with the current owner. The manager was very nice to give us a room downstairs since she saw we had very large luggage for our 40 day trip but the room she gave us was right above her apartment.

Price way too high for what it was. One of the radiators didn't even work and the other one was only touch warm at full on. Giant 14 ft ceilings with stone walls so the radiators are rather important. Ran out of hot water every single time we showered no matter morning afternoon or evening. The room interior was shotty in every aspect. Poorly done and peeling wallpaper. Frayed, peeling, worn, and dirty carpet. The bathroom remodel was done with good materials but it was all poorly put together, probably just some Joe that offered the lowest price. The toilet shook like a rocking chair. All the light bulbs in the room were mismatched some even sticking out above the lamp shades. The main light in the room didn't even have 1 of the 3 lamp shades it required just long fluorescent bulbs, the type that say for outdoor lighting. We got a nice 4 post bed but it squeaked with even the slightest movement and the manager placed us in the room right above her. The bed had the poles and finals for drapes but no drapes. There was a real fireplace in the room and at one point was converted to have a radiator in it but now the whole thing was just boarded up with just some 3/8ths plywood nailed over the whole thing and painted white. The doorknobs throughout the whole place were not functional which was probably the intent, to work as old doors did, but they could have at least tightened the knobs so they didn't rotate and most were like the ones for our room, just barely hanging to the door, so nonfunctional and crappy looking. I hate popcorn ceilings anyway but when you don't fix the huge spot in the middle of the ceiling where the popcorn melted off from a fire and simply repaint over it that looks especially poor. And for the grand finally the floor in the room squeaked and groaned worse than even old abandoned shacks in the forests of northeastern USA.

Happy friendly staff a great welcome with. A wonderful room to suit. A grand Scottish breakfast that fills you up for the day

It was nice and close to train and bus stations. The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was very nice and clean and comfortable.

It was a little bit noisey with traffic going by and people out during the night but there was a lot of re-counstruction going on in town so there may have been more traffic on the street than normal due to street closures.

The room was recentes painted and it had a brand new toilet/shower. Nice English breakfast. Staff was really nice and friendly.

No complains, great budget hotel.

A lift would have been useful when we moved rooms to the top floor after the bed broke, but very helpful staff carried the bags! Might have used the bar if real ale had been available.

The hotel was within walking distance of all the attractions . After arriving we were left alone to enjoy our stay (which we like ) the breakfast was very nice and the hotel was very clean . We had a fantastic weekend

If you want a wake up call make sure you bring a small alarm clock as there wasn't a phone in my room (not sure about the other rooms)...not a problem in the end because there were so many shops along the main street that I was able to purchase one for less than 5 pounds.

Big cosy rooms, good location, friendly staff.

In some rooms it was rather cold. There were some problems with the water in the bathroom.

Spacious room, nice bathroom, big beds with lots of pillows, good breakfast

Service was really friendly. The room with the french doors to the garden.

Breakfasts could have been better. No proper vegetarian option. Just beans, egg and tomato.
