Liked the fact that we could take our dog, liked the suite and the food was excellent. We thought the standard has dropped since our last visit approx 10yrsago, the place needs a freshen up, it was a bit dirty (dusty). OK but would not rush to stay again.

Tucked away in a very quiet location this hotel was very comfortable with attentive staff. My room was spacious with good en-suite facilities, dinner was adequate. I would certainly stay here again.

Having stayed here before, I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting that special something different. The rooms are quintasentially English, traditional in design but with the added touch of luxury. The location is perfect for York, Leeds or Harrogate. I will be returning so until the next time

Everything was fine but see comment below For us the problem was dragging the suitcases up so many stairs, there is no lift in the building.

Every staff we came across was very helpful and friendly. The room was huge and clean. Breakfast was wonderful. Me and my parents loved the idea of staying in a beatiful castle. The whole experience at Hazlewood was the best!

For an extremely low rate, I slept in a 6 foot 4 poster bed with a separate lounge area and my friend got the suite with two large rooms. We could not believe our luck. The best bit was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff along with the relaxed atmosphere throughout the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble and when I forgot my vanity case and arrived at 10pm without toiletries including a tootbrush, the reception made a special trip to a local garage to buy me one and refused to accept any money for it. Cannot recommend highly enough. Just one thing - the water was tepid so no nice bath or shower.

Within an easy drive of York, Hazlewood Castle is in beautiful and peaceful countryside - all I could hear in the courtyard was birdsong and the gentle tinkling of the fountain. The staff are unfailingly cheerful, professional and helpful and, to be able to stay in such lovely surroundings for such a reasonable price, is a rare treat indeed. I was surprised that the dinner I had was slightly different from what was described in the menu but it was delicious and certainly not worth complaining about. There are too many other things to commend this hotel to be moaning about something as minor as this.

The staff were very friendly, professional and efficient. We unfortunately did not enjoy our stay at the Hazlewood Hotel and as such made an official complaint before we left. The room was unclean, the bed was broken and the overall stay did not provide value for money.

I didn't like the mould around the bath but would not want this to put anyone else staying at the hotel as everything else was excellent. It is just something that I personally find offputting and feel that the hotel need to know in order to put this right.
