Great location in the centre of Soho, with friendly and attentive staff. The hotel was unobstrusive, you could easily walk past without noticing it. But inside it had wonderful large rooms with fantastic period decoration and furniture. Even with the central location, it was incredibly quiet. A great place to come back to within walking distance of the bars and restaurants in Soho. Not cheap, but was perfect for my wife and my short weekend together away from the children. The giant period shower/bath looked better than it worked - but still fun!

For me the unique character and charm and old World interior design make Hazlitt's a hidden gem in the many hotels of London. The rooms were beautifully fitted out in a grand and claissical style which oozed luxury and comfort - the rooms are on the smaller side but this just adds to the authentisity of the place. We had breakfast delivered to our room every morning and it was 10 out of 10. Next time we are in London we will be coming back for sure!

We have always lived in older properties so felt it was home from home for us. The hotel felt very cosy intimate warm and comfortable. Loved the furnishings, open fires and tasteful Christmas decorations. Also really enjoyed having a very relaxing breakfast in the library. Will definitely stay here again when we are next in London. A really small thing, but as there were three of us having breakfast it would have been nice to have had more butter and extra hot water to top up the teapot. These were provided when asked for so this is not a complaint, but it would have just saved us from seeking out a member of staff.

A place of sanity within the insanity which is London Soho. A beautiful place to stay within walking distance of Theatre land and Soho. Wonderful personal service. The bath in the Duke of Monmouth Suite is amazing. The rooms, although wonderful are not designed for two girl friends on a shopping / theatre trip. In our room, the Duke of Monmouth Suite there was no place to plug in the hair-dryer close to a mirror to get ready.

Good location for eating out and Covent Garden. Authentic Victorian/Georgian decor. Bedroom facilities leave much to be desired. No tea-making, noisy late- night bar opposite.

Excellent quiet location within just a few minutes walk of an underground station, restaurants, bars and Leicester Square. Well- appointed, good quality decoration and fittings. Very little to dislike except the lack of maintenance to the plumbing in our bathroom which had clearly been in a state of disrepair for some time, albeit our complaint was claimed to be the first known about this problem. A delicious complimentary Breakfast did however make up for this shortfall.

Lots of character. All the rooms have antique furniture and oil paintings on the walls. The rooms are all different; it's not the usual hotel where all the rooms are identical. The location just off Soho square is also excellent. I'm not 100% sure that we were put in the "Superior Double" room that we paid for. From the photo's on their web site, it looks like we were put in a lesser room but it's difficult to tell when all the rooms are so different.

Fantastic location in a lively Soho neighborhood. Easy walk to St. Paul's or Covent Gardens among other landmarks. Staff are most cordial and helpful. Rooms are wonderfully decorated with period furniture. We have stayed before so are very aware of it, but first time visitors need to be aware that this hotel is next to some very, very lively pubs and clubs in Soho, and although Saturday nights are the loudest, there is quite a bit of street noise each evening until after midnight. The hotel has installed an additional set of interior double windows on the rooms facing Frith Street, and they are very effective at keeping the happy noise of pub and club revelers to a minimum. Simply ask for a room facing the back of the hotel if you have a concern over possible noise - the staff is more than willing to honor this request if you make it known upon booking. It's a great street and a wonderful neighborhood, just plan ahead!

The location was fabulous - the historical ambience was exactly what I was looking for in an inner London Soho hotel. It was quirky yet very comfortable, warm and welcoming. As with alot of London hotels the rooms could be slightly larger and a better shower but then it is all part of the atmosphere.

The Hotel building itself is beautiful, and the ground floor reception rooms and library area are full of character. The location is great, right in the heart of Soho. Rooms are very small (even the superior and deluxe rooms), and while the rooms tend to have four poster beds, these are double beds, which can be a bit cosy. Originally we were put in a room with no shower, we requested to be moved, and in the second room the shower did not work correctly. I would suggest making sure you check bathroom facilities when booking. There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, and rooms at the front of the hotel tend to be noisy late into the night due to the bars nearby - but this is to be expected to some extend in Soho

Very friendly though professional atmosphere. Loved to be able to use the library and their honesty bar on the way back from an excellent evening out. Definitively also enjoyed having breakfast taken to the room. The breakfast was a little disappointing - great coffee and juice, however would not chose bacon ciabatta again...

We were upgraded to a delux double from superior which was nice. Lovely, large, quiet room and well appointed bathroom with seperate bath and shower. Very comfortable four poster bed. A lovely boutique hotel, full of individual character and antique furniture. The location was superb for theatres and restaurants. We also had the in-room breakfast and, somewhat unusually for hotels in our experience, the tea and coffee were freshly brewed and hot.

I liked the historical connection and decor. The location was excellent if you want to be in the midst of urban nightlife, but a bit noisy if you have to be up for work in the morning. I loved the decor of my room (Jonathan Swift), but found the airconditioning inadequate for the hot weather. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the food was good and the service timely. My only complaint was the inadequacy of the airconditioning in the record heat.

The entire hotel was charming, quiet and very conveniently placed for shopping, eating and entertainment in Central London. The library on the ground floor was very cosy. Our room was very comfortable (we had a four- poster bed) with our own reading collection and as we were staying in January, we appreciated the efficient heating system. The room was very well equipped for tv, dvd player and Ipod docking. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel so I cannot comment on that. One little complaint - The wardrobe was tiny and there was very little room to store clothes, therefore most things had to remain in the suitcase.
