Unfussy, adequate for the purpose. A pretty soulless (spelling?!) place - isolated from the golf clubhouse.

The location, the friendly staff and the peaceful area in the country means you get a very restful nights sleep. The short walk from the lodge to the main building for meals and drinks is not always inviting on a wet and windy evening

It's the only reasonably priced place to stay in the area now the King's Arms in Headcorn village is closed. The room was not huge but it was big enough, and the bathroom was excellent - at this price I did not expect a bathroom with a bath! The staff were nice, and although I didn't eat in the restaurant or play golf, all those facilities looked smart and well presented. There's just too many niggles with this hotel to really give it the good rating it otherwise deserves. You'll have to pay in full on arrival. I was only staying one night so it was ok, but if I were staying longer I'd certainly be surprised, if not annoyed. You have to check in at the main restaurant/golf shop, and then the hotel itself is 100 yards away across the carpark. That's not far, but when it's a nasty November day and you've got luggage, and you are directed to it rather than escorted, it's plenty far enough to be irritating. The water in the rooms is not drinking water, you have to fill a jug from a water cooler in the hotel entrance. In my room, the kettle and tea-making equipment were in a cupboard at knee-height directly in the path of the bathroom door and entrance door to the room, and you couldn't take the kettle out to boil elsewhere because of how it is wired. This means you have to boil the kettle at knee height in front of two access doors, shielded from view by the open cupboard door. This is outright dangerous, and I did report it. The walls are paper-thin and you can hear everything going on in the adjoining rooms - even just conversation at normal volume. There is free wifi, but the signal was weak in the evening and non-existent in the morning. Mobile phone reception is also patchy. There were notices up in the reception telling you the phone number of the local doctor and saying quite firmly that the hotel's main number was only for hotel-related problems, which in itself is reasonable but just gave the impression that once you're in and you've paid they're not interested in you any more. The folder of hotel-related information in the room needs updating, at least one of the phone numbers listed for taxis gave 'number not recognised'. Another firm was based in Maidstone and would have charged me £18 call-out fee plus the fare on top - it'd be nice if that was noted.

Best described as an upmarket Premier Inn in style, the rooms were spotless and comfortable... Needs the lights around the hotel (which is remote from the main building) car park to be working, there was one out of 5 illuminated which in winter is annoying... Stairs a bit steep for someone with mobility issues (all the doubles are on the first floor) would beneifit from a mixture of both doubles and twins on the ground floor for those of us who are less than sprightly!!

When I arrived there was a power cut so I was given a complimentary glass of wine and sat by the fire whilst we waited for the power to return. Whilst they couldn't cook they offered to make sandwiches. Staff couldn't have done any more to alleviate the situation and deserve 5 stars! The room was quite small but quite adequate for the price

Stayed here on a number of occasions, the staff are very friendly and attentative. Always recommend Headcorn to friends and colleagues alike, my number one choice when staying in the area which is normally every two weeks although sometimes they are fully booked.

To be fair, I only booked the hotel becuase it was in a convenient location for a party I was attending in a village, 5 miles away and was within my price range. The room was spotless and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The hotel suited my needs.

Really enjoyed the ambience of the whole venue. The food quality and variety offered was excellent except there could have been some fresh fruit offered on the breakfast buffet. We did ask but it was not available. Breakfast should have been included in the price. The guest amenities for two people in a room was the same as for a single. Therefore not enough shampoo nor shower gel. The reservation was also not booked under the correct name of the paying party. It was booked under my daughter's name and caused confusion.

The setting of the hotel on a golf course was very pretty. The staff were friendly and helpful. I didn't like having to go to the water cooler in the hall with a jug to get drinking water as you can not drink the water from the tap. I would have liked the iron and ironing board to have been in the room and not having to go to the entrance phone in the hall to phone for one.

It's location, it's environment, it's rate. It's just a very nice place and just what we needed ie, a one-night stop-over travelling up from the coast.
