The convenient location to where we were visiting, staff are very helpful and the smoked salmon and scrambled egg for breakfast is excellent I had brought my disabled mother and booked on the web site asking for ground floor room. When we arrived we were offered a first floor room - you had not received my request but were very helpful in changing the room to one on the Mews. Not easy to get a disabled lady over cobbles to the main door. Maybe another entrance for disabled should be considered. Use top live in Darlington and often ate out on an evening at Headlam as very good value for money - the evening meals have now gone a little too upmarket with little choice.

It is in a quiet area of the country, golf course, river Tees and rolling hills, but close to large towns if you really need them?

The location, staff, facilities and overall hotel experience was excellent. Headlam Hall is a beautiful hotel and spa. The service was excellent as was the food and spa facilities. I would definitely recommend Headlam Hall to friends etc. Although it is on the more expensive side, but you get what you pay for. Not really a dislike but we where in the Mews which are separate from the main house which meant having to put outer wear on to go to eat etc. Might be worth asking for a room in the main house if this is an issue for you.

Superb location, stunning building and interior. The staff were more than helpful, they went the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect, including putting an extra heater in my room. The food was five star class. It was quite simply the best hotel experience I have had in a long time.

An oasis in a desert of clinical hotel chains. Had a manic 3 day business schedule and coming back here each evening gave me a chance to recharge my batteries ready for the next day. Superb all round.

Of the staff were exceptionally helpful and polite. We recieved a free room upgrade as it was my birthday and this was absolutely brilliant- I fully recommend the gainford suite. The spar facilities are very good. John the porter was fabulous and nothing was too much trouble, he is an asset to the hotel

“Staff very friendly and accomodation very comfortable. After dinner you can walk around the property and see the Shetland ponies, Llamas and deer. It is close to 2 main towns in the area as well as beautiful countryside. The food was lovely and the setting relaxing.” Susan, Sittingbourne, Kent |
