Located in 4 acres of beautiful walled gardens in its own rolling estate in the Teesdale countryside, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty between the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, Headlam Hall is a secluded old world country mansion, 15 minutes' drive from the A1 giving it easy access to many local attractions.
Superb, friendly staff are on hand to help out in any way they can, ensuring you have a peaceful break from everyday life. Whether planning a relaxing day being pampered in the spa, taking in a round of golf or just strolling through the immaculate gardens, Headlam Hall has everything you will need to make your stay a pleasurable experience to look back on with fond memories.
The serving of good food and wine is at the heart of Headlam Hall with an emphasis on freshly prepared cuisine using the best local produce. The restaurant is set over three rooms with scope for private dining. The superb Orangery offers a classical elegance with a contemporary touch and opens onto a walled patio for al fresco dining and the charming Panelled room offers an intimate and cosy ambiance. There is also a brasserie cafe in the spa serving informal drinks and snacks with views over the golf course. The kitchen team has a number of awards including an AA rosette, Taste Durham Local Champion and Taste Durham Highest Quality Assured.
The 40 en suite rooms at Headlam Hall have style and character. Located in either the Main Hall, Coach House, Spa or ground floor Mews, all the rooms contrast greatly but are finished to a very high standard and furnished with all the modern amenities guests require.
The rooms in the Main Hall are of a traditional style, as befits a 17th century country hotel. Period furnishings and rich, vibrant fabrics give an elegant feel to the large, spacious rooms.
Bedrooms in the Coach House and Mews are more cottage-like in design with bright, soft country colours and handmade wooden furniture, but still in keeping with the elegant feel of the Main Hall.
The Spa rooms are more contemporary and modern with muted, light colours, soft fabrics and original artworks. Every room is designed to provide guests with maximum comfort and enjoyment.
The hotel has a whole host of activities you can do on or off-site. The new 2.5 million pound spa at Headlam Hall provides a range of relaxing massages and de-stressing treatments to make you feel like new. Work out in the gym, take a dip in the swimming pool before relaxing in the sauna, hydrotherapy pool and drench shower.
For those guests not wanting to spend the day being pampered in the spa, there is a range of sports on-site from golf (with an equipment shop and a resident PGA pro for tuition if needed), a driving range, pitch and putt, tennis courts, croquet (in summer) and fishing (for guests with their own equipment and NRA licence). The area surrounding Headlam Hall has some of the country's most scenic walks and the hotel offers mountain bike hire with maps available for guests wishing to explore.
Just 4 miles away is the impressive medieval Raby Castle. A short drive away from the castle is High Force, the country's highest and most spectacular waterfall. The Pennines has many attractions, with fantastic views of the English countryside. The Beamish Open air Museum is about 30 minutes' drive away and nearby Newcastle offers great shopping.
