Dating back to the second half of the 18th century, this charming hotel is set on the edge of Great Windsor Park, very close to Virginia Water Lake.

Clean. Friendly land lady. Very spacious room. Large tv. Very local for my business trip.
Single glazing made for being kept awake by traffic noise. Had great trouble finding the place. I spent half an hour driving up and down the same small stretch of road on a rainy night, expecting to see a prominent B and B sign. I had to crawl up and down the road to the annoyance of other drivers to eventually find a carved wooden sign on a low wall. Very small sink in bathroom.
Delicious breakfast Reasonably priced Comfortable bed Friendly staff and other guests
Breakfast very good. Parrots were friendly.
Parking was a bit of an issue
Good breakfast and nice,caring host.
No central heating in the room, only small stand-alone radiator. The room wasn`t cosy enough.
I found the room to be very comfortable and clean, the host excellent and the breakfast superb. My only gripe was that the bed in the room i stayed, the Cherub Room, was a little soft for my liking. HOWEVER as someone with back problems I can only get comfortable on hard beds, so as much of my doing that the bed itself.
Arriving on foot the entry is very dark at night and can get flooded after heavy raid so keep left if you walk in the in the dark!
I knew Heatherbank was no ordinary B&B when the proprietor walked into the breakfast room with a parrot on his shoulder. And when the proprietess gave me a tour of her collection of exotic and rare reptiles, I felt like it was a home away from home. Overall, a charmingly eclectic place. Will definitely be back.
Interesting place to stay
Would prefer ensuite , we got the last room so realize it was all there was
great staff ,big comfy rooms .very informal but still good service .loved meeting the parrots.
The old house, the bathroom with a bath and shower - even though it was shared - the breakfast so very well cooked, the animals, the Parrots, Del Boy and the other two (forgotten their names already) the miniature tortoise, and all the other pets. The carvings in the wood outside, so beautiful. The wonderful dolls houses. Most of all Mary and John were very entertaining to say the least - perfect people for B&B owners.
The tiny door to get through (wasn't there long enough to ask about opening the other doors), the noise from the main road, only because I'm used to darkness and silence, but that's me not a fault with the B&B itself.
The tree outside! Oh and the very nice gentleman who did odd jobs for the b&b
On arrival met by a man at the door who didnt introduce himself until he had actually shown me around where we were staying. He wasnt aware we had booked. We had booked the apartment for 3 nights. We arrived at 4pm, which I was told was the booking in time. He said its usually later but oh...mary doesnt tell me anything. Thought to myself...this is a great start! Anyway, unloaded the car, got the children in (6 years and 13 months) and thought great...holidays have started, lets have a great few days. My initial thoughts of having a great few days away soon turned into me being a concious wreck! As we had travelled in the car for 3 and half hours, our 13 months old routine of naps went out the window as he didnt want to sleep at the usual 8pm... He was up until midnight. No problem I thought as we are on holiday and it will be nice to have a lay in! Midnight came and our 13 month old was still awake. Not crying or whinging, just happily walking around the apartment. Knock on the door and it was mary the owner. Not happy as our son was keeping her awake. Explained our situation, apologised and she said " just be aware im sleeping underneath you and have to be up at 6.30am to do breakfast" !! We paid £100 per night to stay there and actually ended up coming home a day early as we were conscious of our son keeping her up again. On handing our keys back no offer of just paying for the 2 nights we stayed she took for the 3 nights. Didnt ask us if we had any problems with our stay or if we werent happy with anything, more interested in my bank card! She didnt even ask why were we leaving early. Never again will we stay here. Oh and having to take your shoes off before you went in and leaving them in a tray. Get some more appropriate flooring down. And a bit of bleach in your cups wouldnt go amiss..not keen on drinking out of other peoples tea stained mugs!
Bedroom was spacious and bed comfortable. Very clean. Breakfast was wonderful. Highly recommend.
A little unusual to be asked to take shoes off at the door but not too much trouble.
Large rooms, very good breakfast and the wild life!
Not well sign posted.
Garden setting and rural location brilliant, breakfast was very good. Many personal touches were evident. Room was spacious and comfortable with 2 easy chairs to relax in and watch the huge TV, shame there was no side table to put the cups on.
Wi fi needed boosting
Overall hospitality. Mary and John are good hosts who made my Father in Law and I feel very welcome.
Large room Good breakfast
lovely room, great shower, very clean, super breakfast, great value for money
parking was a bit problematic
Room clean and quiet, Breakfast excellent Distance to Town centre very good
No shared bathroom. Difficult to find entrance and car parking when driving up the busy road with queue of traffic behind you. Driveway could have a sign to assist travelers to locate it. The sign on the driveway was for flats 2a and 2b but not no 9 the guesthouse number.
The staff extremely welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them.
Price very good compered, outside centre
Breakfast not eatable, toilet and shower shared between to many rooms, no WiFi cover in rooms, table for all on breakfast
Very nice area, Mary and John are very helpful, a pleasant place to stay.
2nd visit in 2 years to these premises whilst attending Royal Ascot. Fascilities have been updated and improved. Comfort and Breakfast really good. Easy walk to the town and train station for easy access to Ascot, London or Reading. Mary and John are very hard working and welcoming.
Lovey house-late Victorian/ Edwardian lots of character, stained glass, cornicing, beautiful fireplaces, appropriate furnishings but just a bit odd,so a bit of a mix reallyRailway station only 10 min walk & within walking distance of RMA Sandhurst(30 mins or so to New College)
The owner wasn't there when I arrived but had left a note stuck to door on how to use key safe, which was ok,but didn't say which room was mine. Its a good job I'm not allergic to cats/feathers as cats& parrots were both roaming around, cats ok(however not fond of them)but parrots flying around?Ev.entually owner arrived& showed me to my room, which was fine, clean, well furnished&close to bathroom.I like "different & quirky"it's much more fun than a Premier Inn,so long as you can embrace cats, parrots & what looked like long tailed rodents-the type of which you'd get in touch with pest control pretty quickly if they found their way into your home. So,if you're allergic to any of above, think twice(rodents were caged)
It was homely, clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and kind as they catered for my vegan diet and I had the best mushrooms ever for breakfast, thank you
We loved our stay at Heatherbank, didn't want to leave! The owners made us very welcome, the house is delightful, spacious and interesting, and we loved the array of animals! Comfortable bed too and great bathroom. we'll be back!
