It was conveniently placed for us to see our son and his family who live in Honiton. There is a very friendly atmosphere there our room was very comfortable and every thing we needed was provided. The breakfasts provided were excellent.

Clean, friendly hotel, decor a bit dated but all the room facilities required for a hotel this price. Good food both breakfast and evening meal with a pleasant bar area.

We needed an Hotel near my husbands aunty who is in a care home in Honiton. This is the second time we have stayed there, the value for money is great and the food is first class. The fact that it is an old building, adds character to the hotel. We have been made welcome both times we have stayed there. We are going to be coming again in the new year.

good and plentyful food. comfortable rooms and lovely old world interior of pub. firendly and helpful staff restaurant was cold as no heating appeared to be on. decor was a little tired, carpets in pub need replacing. photos on the website indicate a rural fel to the loaction however it is in the middle of a modern housing estate which did detract from our stay slightly as we had no countryside views. i would stay again if i needed accomodation in the area but not for the romantic break i had anticipated

Nice friendly people. Nice big bed in my room, and a new bathroom. Lovely historic building. The bar and restaurant were cold, the lovely log burner had not been lit for a long time which would have made an enormous difference to warmth and ambience. Although a fantastic old building very shabby and run down. One of the rooms used had old towels and bits in the wardrobe which was not too clean. It just seemed a bit sad and unloved which is a shame as it's such a lovely building.

The friendly staff, free wifi, and included breakfast. The fact it is a proper pub that opens late makes it a good place to meet.

Good personal service. Food excellent. Good pub atmosphere in bar. Easy to book on-line or direct by phone. Have stayed there at least once a year for about 6 years now. My room was above skittle alley, but then it is primarily a pub. No noise after 10:30pm, so only affected me watching tv and not sleeping.

Carlos and Julie and their staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, including bringing breakfast to the room. They looked after us very well and welcomed our visiting guests too. Would have no hesitation in staying there again. Some parts were in need of attention but the parts that mattered were very clean and well kept. It is a very large inn and a rolling refurbishment operation is bound to be in operation.

I had some foreign visitors with me, and we all agreed that we were made "at home" and appreciated the care given by the staff. The bedrooms were luxurious and very comfortable, and the food superb and very well presented with more than enough to eat. This is not a complaint but a misunderstanding, We were not aware that the breakfast time was from 7.0am - 9.0am, and so we missed an English breakfast, however the hotelier did give us toast and coffee. It would have been helpful if times of meals had been included in the information folder provided at the hotel.

The room was massive, although I think it was a family room even though we only booked a double. The bathroom was very clean. Full english breakfast was good. The room itself wasn't totally clean, with cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. The room above must have had a wooden floor, we were woken throughout the night by what sounded like furniture being dragged across the floor. We were also kept awake by people leaving the pub at closing time. At breakfast I didn't want the full english, and asked for just toast instead, but we weren't brought any extra than would have been brought with the fry up.

We would have liked a plug in the wash hand basin!!!!!! The mirror stand on the dressing table was broken (reported to staff). The room is not sound proof from the music from below or the noise of the Skittle Alley, but all that stopped at 11 o'clock. We would stay there again if it fits in with our plans for an overnight stop. The staff were very kind and helpful and that makes a big difference.

I booked 2 rooms, one double (room 3) for self & spouse and another (4 poster room 5) for our daughter. Both rooms were large and comfortable, with excellent en suite bathrooms with constant hot water. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar and dining areas were also comfortable and well laid out, with good ambience. The grounds were pleasantly rustic. The restaurant meals were far too big and a bit pricey. We´d have liked the menu to include smaller portions at lower prices.

Sunday lunch (roast) was very good. Having a full length mirror in the bedroom was excellent - so few hotels think this is important. Bathroom was new and clean. Bed warm and comfortable. Lots of parking. Long wait for service in the bar / restaurant due to lack of staff. Too many visiting dogs in the bar (yapping). Tatty bedroom curtains. Stained headboard. Hotel interior looks a bit run down.

“The owners were most accommodating and couldn't do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Our room was extremely comfortable with little extra touches added such as L'octaine bathroom products, several choices of tea, coffee & luxury biscuits in the room and lovely feather pillows & duvet on a very comfortable kingside bed. The evening meal if required is freshly cooked to order from a regularly changed menu using all local products and expertly cooked. Will definitely stay again when in the area.” Michele, Wantage |
