The location in the town. Close to the seafront
We were not told that this Hotel was being used for a half way house for the Border Control Agencies for those seeking asylum. The Evening Meal was chaotic, staff pushed to the limit coping with extra people. The food was very limited due self service system. The general atmosphere was like a Hostel rather than a quality Hotel.
Nice room, comfy bed, nice deep bath.
Room too hot. Noisy fellow guests running up and down corridor and stairs, talking loudly, shouting and swearing until 5am when I went out and shouted at them. Staff told me after I should have dialed 0 on room phone. Food at breakfast was rubbery and dry as if it had been kept warm for too long.
Very good location. Friendly staff.
Room smell damp and no curtain for 1 small window, very dirty on the floor and tea making tray, while the bed is clean, all other areas seemed to be neglected. Some banking on the door in the middle of night, all in all, will not stay again no matter how cheap!
Good VFM. Staff are excellent. Buffet styled breakfast excellent. Used location as a base for Isle of Purbeck during the day and the city centre by night. Heating really good, rooms not stuffy.
A bit worn out but fully functional. Needs a lick of paint here and there and someone who's a bit better at applying silicon sealants, lol.
poor cleanliness created the blocked sink but what really disappointed was the staff's inability to fix it over a 2 night stay.
Maybe is a little dated, but it has it's it charm. Keep it this way, and remember those lovely seventies.
I stayed twice, the first one night stay was good...single room was ok. kept awake by wind rattling the old wood sash windows
3 night stay single room offered was very very dated and small....I refused this room and was given a slightly updated room this was showing a lot of wear and tear....ripped bathroom floor covering shower riser falling off the wall sink had limescale over everything shower was just a dribble and no room for a bedside table, bearing in mind the price was a couple of pounds under other hotels on offer I wish I had gone to them instead.
evening food was very good value for price
room needed a lot of udateing was very tired.
The way the hotel is. I love the style. Many people think that the hotel needs to be redone, but i love it the way it is.
First I got room 6, a shed, but after asking for another room I got it at once.
The hotel room was not done very well. There were marks all over the walls and carpets. The towels had stains on them, as well as the bed cover. It was very dull and a lot of work was needed on the room. It looked worn down and unfinished.
Room large & similar to Premier Inns rooms. View (Note = room changed from back to available front room to enable early residence - excellent reception) Breakfast good & nice to have table cleared after each course. Bar / lounge area spacious & inviting. Internal décor relaxing. Lift handy & efficient.
Limited parking facilities during high season for which there would be a charge. Parking spaces at awkward angles most cars out of spaces. Some of the facilities a bit worn around the edges (eg shower, kettle). Garden chairs chucked in the pond. TV remote control not working despite new batteries & help from excellent receptionist. Breakfast buffet not hot enough & serving utensils ? could not tell which utensil was for which food. Some guest excessive noise in early hours of morning but in passing. Room service noise in morning loud banging of room doors fortunately after we had got up. No wardrobe hangers in one wardrobe.
Good friendly staff
The bed and the location.
The noise even with the location of our room and the price was definitely not worth it
Classic styling hotel . Lovely clean rooms . brilliantly friendly helpful staff. Plenty of lovely food served as a buffet no limits on how much you can eat. Our room was huge with a lovely comfy bed huge bath tub and a shower.
The television could do with updating to receive more channels in the right order. very minor problem to be truthful.
The staff were very pleasant and efficient. The location is fairly central to the shopping area and beach.
I booked a last minute room at just over £40 for the night. Not expensive, but the room was unbelievably small, I didn't think hotel rooms like this existed anymore. Pretty squalid, but in fairness other last minute one night deals in Bournemouth, have been in equally squalid accommodation.
The location was great. Walking distance of the beach and shops.
The bathroom wasn't clean. There was dirt around the bath that I had to clean before using it. The shower had no pewer and couldn't get the temperature right. Was either too hot or too cold.
Location and price.
Room had no windows, uncomfortable night sleep, annoying noise in room from lights/tv buzzing. Extra charge to park.
The rooms could do with a paint job and a good scrub. Old box tv with no sat channels and poor vision. Didn't have hot water in morning due to dodgy plumbing. Breakfast wasn't all that..bacon well overcooked and breaking into bits in buffet trays
Hotel needs refurbishment - very tired
hotel staff were nice
rooms were a bit too hot at night due to weather
Staff were definitely friendly, courteous and helpful. Food was OK.
Room was over heated. Their appeared to be a heating system permanently on and even with windows fully open and room fan running (that was very noisy) it was still way too hot
The hotel was good
Hated the room
Basically a good value hotel that gives you the basics well
Good half price deal on room only when we booked the day before. Good location near seafront. We had a warm and friendly welcome from the reception staff who were most helpful. Friendly staff and the rooms were clean and well serviced. Hot water came through quickly. Overall reasonable value at the discounted price. Breakfast buffet was overall reasonable value.
Our bed mattress was comfortable on the right side but the springs felt bad on the other causing an aching back the next day. We did noticed that they were replacing mattresses as they were filling a skip with them in the rear car park. Some resident was seen removing one from the skip and driving off with it on his car roof rack! Some traffic noise at the rear was noticeable unless you sleep with the windows shut. Although the room was clean. Facing the right side of the bedhead there was an unexplained dry brown deposit/stain. Down on the carpet! Some fixtures (bathroom door lock) and curtain fittings needed a little attention. There were anti slip mats supplied for the bathroom. Tv Remote control was pretty dirty and needed cleaning with a sanitizing wet wipe before you'd want to operate it. The tea and coffee at breakfast were pretty poor with no Filter coffee available and only one type of catering teabag. I hope these comments are helpful
