My colleague and I arrived late as we were travelling after work. Robert directed us to the local pub for supper and then was waiting to guide us in later in the dark, great kindness and lovely rooms

The owners of Heathwood Lodge were very pleasant and welcoming and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Breakfast was brilliant. It is set in superb countryside and was therefore very peaceful and quiet. Despite being out of the main town it was no problem to get to the City and other places of interest. A car is a must therefore. My friend and I would willingly stay there again.

The Lodge is a english countryside home, very well kept by the owners, Joss and Robert, who not only provided us with information about what to visit and how to get there, but mostly were much more personal and warm than any chain hotel could ever be. Location close to Canterbury ( we had our car) but far enough to be in the countryside. Very good breakfast, also.

Great location. It's close to the ferries, just a 20 minutes drive, and close to Canterbury. Very quiet area. The beds are great and the owner is dog friendly.

Very friendly welcome from Joss and Robert - tea and cake on the lawn. If you like dogs, horses and countryside it is the place to stay. The beds were very comfortable. The gardens are well tended and pleasant to stroll around. We were the only visitors on Sunday evening and nothing was too much trouble for them - they recommended a pub for supper. Breakfast (prepared by Robert) was excellent - porridge and kippers as well as choice of cereals and a "full English" (if you wanted it) - good to find butter and jam in jars without the nasty plastic wrappers in individual portions.

Well situated for our needs. Friendly proprietors. Comfortable rooms, both bedroom and dining/sitting rooms. Excellent breakfast. Only (very minor) criticism - staircase steps rather steep & narrow, but then, my husband does not enjoy full mobility - fine for able bodied persons. Would definitely stay again.

My friend and I are motorcyclists, we travel abroad on bike trips often. The b&b is very peacefully located in the middle of the countryside 10 - 15 minutes from the m20 along a few a and b roads and has a wonderful garden to sit in on pleasant evenings. There is a small locally run petrol station around 5 minutes away which is open in the daytime. We found this hotel ideal for a pre-trip stopover before catching the tunnel the next morning (around 20 minutes away). We were greeted with a friendly smile by the owner. The b&b had a hard standing outside with a metal eye in the concrete which was great for standing and securing the motorcycles. The room was comfortable particularly the bed, and it had a small flat screen tv with dvd player, a small selection of DVDs are available o borrow from the proprietor, a kettle and tea and coffee making facilities. What is not obvious is that the b&b offers evening meals, the menu looked good but we had all ready eaten. Had we known this we would have likely eaten there. Breakfast is selected from a menu the night before, it is requested you advise the hotelier what time you intend to take it. The breakfast and the superb nights sleep are probably the two best things about this B&B. The english breakfast is a must. Not for the quantity but for the quality. Good locally sourced and well produced bacon and sausages, bread from the local bakery and eggs from the hoteliers hens! Wow! There are other accompaniments and alternatives including Smoked Kippers, Rachaels Yogurts, copella apple juices, fresh summer fruits poached in wine, good home made jams and Dorset cereals Muesli. Oh and Kelloggs variety packs for the kids. The breakfast will really set you up for a good days travelling/exploring. My only qualm was that in our room milk for tea and coffee was provided in a small container. This meant it was a little warm and on the border of turning. I understand that real milk is a preferred option to small uht cups but there needs to be a fresher way of supplying it. Oh and some normal tea bags would be nice. Pg tips or similar? Otherwise very very good.

A beautiful remote country setting, immaculately kept and very quaint. Everything was locally sourced including the eggs for our breakfast from their own hens. Although the bedroom was rather small, this however was not a problem because a guest lounge was provided, even though the guest house only has 3 guest rooms. The gardens were picturesque and the views over the rolling countryside superb. The couple who ran the guest house worked very well as a team and we felt, provided those finishing little touches. The location suited us as we are in our fifties and fit but it would not be suitable for an older couple or those with limited ability. Transport is essential. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our tranquil stay and felt very rested after our lovely break at Heathwood Lodge. Thank you especially for an amazing breakfast. Only the room was not large enough for a double/kingsize bed.

A very warm welcome from attentive hosts, comfortable accomodation and absolute, perfect peace! A wonderful location for gentle strolls in rare heathland, but in easy striking distance of Canterbury and the coastal ports. Definitely on my 'come back' list.
