Surrounded by a salmon and trout loch, Grimisdale Guest House is situated on its own peninsula on the Isle of Harris.
Score from 59 reviews Very good
This peaceful guest house has beautiful views over Loch Kindebig and is 5 minutes from Tarbet Ferry Terminal. It offers free Wi-Fi and breakfasts made with local produce.
Score from 52 reviews Superb
Great rooms - faultless Location - right beside ferry (from Skye) and at mid-point of the island Wifi - fast Staff are very helpful
Breakfast was ok - but not up to the price bracket Would have expected a little more for the price Could do with better quality dinner - though the bar food is excellent and well priced
Location, food, staff
I enjoyed my stay and the staff were friendly the food amazing.
The only downside for me was the noise either from people outside of the pub or on the other side the noise of the ferry parked up for most of the night.
Bustling atmosphere. Excellent restaurant.
A bit noisy. Floors were thin on sound insulation.
Courteous and friendly staff. Nice bathrooms. Good location for exploring Harris.
Too much noise from bar below in some rooms. Too much noise from overnight-moored car ferry in others!
All the comfort you need, very nice restaurant!
Proximity to the ferry was ideal. Hotel was clean, fairly newly remodeled.
The room had a bit too much furniture. We were in a family room and it was difficult to move around and open our luggage. Also, the shelf over the sink was hard to deal with while brushing your teeth.
Location in the centre of town, near the ferry.
A bit noisy near the ferry at night. very poor service in the restaurant and bar. Waitstaff poorly trained and did not understand what is required of prompt, efficient service. Price for the rooms at $300/night was well over priced for the location and type of hotel.
Great location and very helpful and friendly staff. The top floor room overlooking the harbour was fabulous! Lovely food. Great staff.
The first floor room we had was above the restaurant so quite noisy when the window was open and quite cramped.
Restaurant excellent. Staff v friendly and helpful
Our room was fine buy my daughters room was nowhere near as good Her husband described it as an upmarket hostel and for £160 not good value. Avoid room 206
The location at the harbour gave the whole atmosphere of Harris and the people. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room very comfortable and clean.
Leaving to go home
Facilitiers were excellent.
Arrival of ferry at 7am and some travellers at 6am.
NICE CLEAN ROOM IDEAL FOR SOLO TRAVELLER.GOOD FOOD IN RESTAURANT AND BAR.
The breakfast (included in price) and our evening meal were excellent.
Although comfortable, the room was a bit small.
Stylish rooms, extremely comfortable beds. The bed linen and towels were of a very good quality (which I would expect at the price, but you don't always get what you expect!) Lovely local bathroom products, powerful shower and a choice of casual dining in the bar or a more formal bistro. On arrival there was a problem with our booking but it was dealt with swiftly and professionally - always the mark of a well run hotel.
Close to ferry
Hotel a bit noisie thin walls
It's a good, comfortable and friendly hotel. Food is good, staff very helpful. It's good to stay somewhere where guests aren't immediately required to provide a credit card for 'extras'. Overall it's a very relaxing place to stay, entirely in keeping with the glorious island of Harris.
Some guests might find the 'thrum' of the ferry engines a bit irritating on the nights it lies over in Tarbert.
my single room was cozy, clean and comfortable with a nice view of the ferry. Food in the restaurant was excellent!
Good food, friendly staff
Over priced for what it is Boutique is an over used expression it's an ok hotel and when the ferry docks it's within 20 m of the boat so poor views and a little noises Unfortunately vey little competition in the area
Comfortable room Excellent attentive staff in the restaurant.
No lift - had to carry heavy suitcases up the stairs
The hotel is right at the ferry terminal and easy to find. The staff were friendly. It was a comfortable room with beautiful furnishings. I particularly enjoyed having the option to have a bath after a day of driving. The breakfast was wonderful.
The boiler wasn't on so there was no hot water. .. though I am sure this is not the usual.
Handy for ferry.
Room small, no lounge, felt like a budget hotel but very expensive. Wouldn't recommend.
Location (very handy for the ferry!), modern well equipped rooms. Excellent food (especially breakfast), packed breakfast facility. Clean and modern dining room and bar.
High pricing, based on little competition presumably, same price for all rooms regardless of standard (for our party of four we had two rooms - one quite small with double and one much larger with a king size bed - but both were £160 B&B per night). Variable WiFi signal strength dependent on location.
The staff were excellent. Always happy to help, friendly and excellent service. The room was also excellent. Breakfast was good and well worth it. I'd definitely return.
