Hedgefield House HotelStella Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE21 4LR (Show map)
Fabulous,
Score from 70 reviews
“ Hedgefield house is well maintained and the grounds are lovely. We had a bit of rain otherwise we would have looked around a bit more. Great location and close to city. ”
Mark,
Regents Park
This stunning mansion set in 4 acres of award-winning gardens is situated on the edge of the Nothhumbrian countryside, yet only 5 minutes from the city centre. The hotel is within a 10 minute walk of the historic Ryton with its ancient church and selection of cafes and restaurants. It is only one mile from Hadrian's Wall walk. The house is only a 10 minute journey from Newcastle centre and 5 minutes from the MetroCentre shopping complex. This is a relaxing environment where a warm welcome is guaranteed. Hedgefield House has the interesting distinction of being the 1st private house in England to have a private telephone. Alexander Graham Bell was related, by marriage, to the Simpson family who built the house. Hotel Rooms: 10 The most recent booking for this hotel was made on 21 May at 18:43 from United Kingdom.

I stayed in the 4 poster bed suite and it was big and clean and very comfortable. The garden is nice and the staff helpful and polite. The breakfast was basic but sufficient for my needs. The Hotel does not have a restaurant which if you are a single traveler could be a bit inconvenient because you have to go out and be "billy no mates" but I expect most people using this Hotel are accompanied so not really a problem. The Hotel is quite close to the main road so some road noise is to be heard

WOW, I booked the four poster suite which is fabulous. Even had a hidden room to do some work and setup the laptop. Can't think of anything!

The rooms were superb and the staff on site were friendly. The hotel is perfectly located for a visit to the area and although not in the city centre the location is on a bus route that is regular so not a problem to leave the car! There was nothing negative to say about this hotel.

Very welcoming and clean. Very large rooms with good tea/coffee making facilities. It calls itself a hotel but does not have a bar or restaurant normally associated with a hotel. More accurate to describe a a Guest House. Showers are very feeble and should be updated.

Private location and quiet with on site parking;clean and simple accommodation and reasonably priced. Needed to travel out in evenings for meals although it was in close proximity to local eating venues. No facility or option for cooked English Breakfast (continental breakfast only) and Shared bathroom facility only (although this was known at time of booking). I would however still make a return visit to this Hotel - staff friendly and helpful. The hotel was ideal for my needs on this occasion.

Hedgefield House was the perfect place to stay. If you want to be slightly out of the city it is great. My room was beautiful and really really clean. Breakfast was nice continental but you had lots of choice. Staff were very friendly would stay again!

Friendly welcome, clean stylish room with excellent facilities and luxury touches (four poster, chandelier). Good location - off road in large open grounds. Old house with character. Very good value. Wasn't offered an early breakfast - this would have been easy as it's continental not cooked so breakfast was very rushed and incomplete for me as I had to leave.

Beds very comfy, room extremely tidy, location was great, was greeted on arrival and offered help with bags if needed, host even told me of a local restaurant to eat at. Overall very good was extremely pleased with everything here, will stay here again when I am next in Newcastle. Excellent price for the room and continental breakfast was good the range on offer was very good. Not really a complaint but even to have to pay extra it would have been nice to have the option of a cooked breakfast, however this does not in any way mean this is a complaint more of a comment. i will also be passing on the details of this hotel to others so if they are going to Newcastle to call up and book a room. Thanks you for the hospitality.

Very comfortable rooms, warm welcome and magnificent croissants! Beautiful gardens and proximity to Newcastle centre as well as countryside. Think a cooked breakfast would be an excellent addition although the Continental one was very varied.
