service was very friendly and professional. Location to city centre was great, able to walk in10 minutes.
No fridge in room.
The location was excellent, a short walk into York. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The food served in the hotel was very good. The breakfast had a good selection to choose from. We booked the spa and sauna one night during our stay and it was lovely!
The stairs leading up to the rooms! The car park was a bit tight to get into, but we didn't use it once it was parked in there so not really a problem, also we have a huge Series 5 BMW, a smaller car wouldn't be a problem.
Big rooms, nice breakfast, central location
Lovely breakfast with a good choice, and staff very helpful. The bathroom very spacious and clean, beds were comfortable, overall a lovely hotel. That had little extras. only a few mins walk from city centre. Would stay there again
squeaky door at top of stare
Lovely breakfast!I asked for dippy eggs and they came hard boiled;made staff aware of this and they sorted it straight away with pleasure!Very welcoming upon arrival and wasn't a bother to leave our car in the hotel carpark whilst we visited city centre either
Only one thing, the shower in the room was very slow and did not give out much power at all...Maybe because we were on top floor of building and I did use it at 9am so this probably was a busier time of day...
Good breakfast and clean.
Room was quite small with a very soft bed. Only hand towels available to dry off after shower. Parking was available but tight. Overall high price considering what we got.
The positon of the hotel fro easy access into City centre. The breakfast was excellent.
Nothing to add here.
We loved friendly atmosphere, hot tub and garden for relaxing. We enjoyed the bar and breakfast. The beds were very comfortable.
Short walking distance to York centre Clean hotel Lovely staff Seamless service Spacious room
bathroom small not very clean
The cleansiness the friendly staff , lovely food, lication good.
That i wasnt there longer we had a lovely stay
Location .parking on site. Nice room ..
Very average breakfast , awful bathroom ..not value for money ....
Everything was brilliant.
Good room size
1) Wifi in lobby area only 2) Small Bathroom (Small Shower in Superior Double room) 3) Stayed 5 nights with the same set of towels. Hotel was more interested with looking after the environment!! 4) No A/C
its only negative would be : beautiful hotel very modern & unique needs walls touching up with paint as they were scuffed in places from shoes, cases e.t.c otherwise really lovely clean comfy place.
Couldn't sleep, very noisy hotel, because lack of sleep I missed breakfast yet still charged for breakfast and full price for room. Staff didn't care that despite telling them of the noise they refused any help.
The Hedley House Hotel was what I was looking for during my UK travels, a departure from the generic chain hotel experience. HH was very personal and had a lot of character and feeling. It also offered a great location only a few minutes walk into the walled areas of York and the York Cathedral. If my travels bring me back to York I would definitely give them a call.
Although their deluxe rooms were charming and beautiful their base rooms were small and plain. For me that was not a major issue, and again I would go back to the HH, but there is a wider range of room quality in the hotel than one would normally see in a chain hotel.
Everything but especially location
The ground bedrooms. Wifi only available in the lobby.
Very good location, parking a bit tight, average breakfast, very clean, lovely, helpful staff small rooms a bit "compact". The one criticism is that if you are a light sleeper, there is a rail track which runs on the opposite side of the road, not loads of noise but you can still hear it. Overall a pleasent stay.
I liked everything about this hotel. However if you require a fan because it is hot (rarely), be sure to request one in advance. It was unusually hot and I was on the top floor and there were no more fans.
They don't advertise that they have a budget room for only 60 pounds a night. That would've been so much better for me, a solo traveler. But lesson learned. They advised me to always call and ask.
The hotel was lovely and clean with an excellent restaurant and stunning views of the minster from our room and free parking within about 5 - 10 mins walk of central York
We managed to go on the hottest week of the year, so our room was a little stuffy...But like the manual in the room says - York isn't known for its tropical climate! So I won't hold this against them
The downstairs reception and terrace is a lovely feature to the hotel. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean. The location of the hotel is excellent and staff are friendly and informative.
It was very warm and even with the window open it was at times unbearable. Perhaps air conditioning could be considered.
