Very warm welcome from your excellent reception staff. Clean, modern and comfortable, and great location The room was in need of a facelift, the bathroom was a tad sad and scrufy for a 4 star hotel. But the room was warm and the bed very comfortable.

We had a beautiful room overlooking the lake and golf course giving us a good start to the day with the view from the window. The breakfast choice was outstanding and we were able to bring our grandchildren along for a breakfast on one of the days - the staff then were most welcoming. We enjoyed the walk round the grounds and imagine in a couple of weeks the autumn colours will be quite spectacular.

The staff were very accommodating nothing was ever to much for them. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable as a wheel chair user found getting around the hotel very easy as staff were always on hand to help. The food in the restaurant was of a very high standard and very recommendable also the views from the window tables were breath taking. We have already booked again for next year and will continue to visit when ever possible. We would like to say a big thank you to daniel'o' brien, snahil the most wonderful waiter ever, Jamie and stacie from the spa for making us feel at home.

Used the hotel as our base whilst attending the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The hotel was geared up to accomodate the race goers, i.e early breakfast, helpful directions and itinararies for the circuit. Loved our room, very comfortable. There seemed to be a shortage of staff in the bar and restaurant between 7 and 8pm on saturday 9/7/11. Which was a little odd during a busy weekend for the hotel. One area of the restaurant was of a very good standard, the rest seemed a bit like a canteen. The table settings and the chairs were of a very different standard.

Reasonable b&b rate, clean room and good breakfast. Poor quality spa and leisure facilities. 10M pool and tiny, poorly equipped gym. Bar was too close to the spa and the 'gentlemen's club' was intrusive, more like the local pub was closed and everyone had migrated to the terrace bar near the spa. Terrible bar service and no cocktail menu for pre-dinner drinks. Extremely disappointing facilities - this hotel thinks it is upmarket but it isn'T. It wants to be upmarket, but it doesn't know how. Stay here for b&b, not for a spa break.

The spa was wonderful - top marks. The dinner in the restaurant was lovely and the restaurant staff at dinner were very friendly. Location is very very remote. 3Pm check in is much too late, although the manager did accommodate an early check in for me (12.30am) when I explained that I had been travelling since 3am. However, prior to his intervention, I was told that no rooms were ready- despite check out time of 11am!!! There are old and new parts of this hotel - old part being more like tired 3 star. Most of the staff are really nice, but one or two I found to be a bit snooty and condescending!!

“Quirky, attractive pub in a lovely village. Very comfortable bed and a super night's sleep. Very convenient for what we wanted to do (walk the Oxford Canal). The pub is in transition (the owner has been there for only 6 months) and the kitchen was being closed for refurbishment the day after we left. Certainly worth a follow-up visit to check progress. Beware the breakfast - it is good but huge!” Maureen, Harrogate |
