Privately owned and run, Hempstead House Hotel & Restaurant is a traditional English country house hotel, surrounded by the glorious Kent countryside. The luxurious rooms are all individually designed, with modern facilities, including private bathrooms and high-speed wired internet access. The hotel boasts spacious, elegant reception rooms and 3 bars. The delightful classical restaurant, Lakes, offers award-winning food and professional but friendly service. The new AquaManda Spa and gym has superb relaxation and recreational facilities, including a sauna, a steam room and a 50-foot swimming pool with hydrotherapy pool. The fitness studio offers a full range of classes and a fully equipped, state-of-the-art gym. The therapy suite offers 5 spacious treatment rooms and a relaxation lounge. The extensive gardens and terraces make an ideal setting for outdoor aperitifs and dining on summer evenings. In the winter months, guests can enjoy the warmth and comfort of the roaring log fires. Located on the main A2 road, near the cathedral towns of Canterbury and Rochester and historic Leeds Castle, Hempstead House is also very close to the ports of Dover and Folkestone. It happened to be near where I needed to be for business. Food overpriced and somewhat pretentious. Ok to eat Beer crap. No proper beer. Had to walk down the road to pub for a decent pint Therefore no atmosphere. Sterile "Wine bar" image Unlikely to come back

Thank you for making our short stay so enjoyable. My two over riding memories are the attentiveness and professionalism of the staff and all the homely touches evident in the hotel. It made our stay a unique experience. My only niggle was that room 33 was in ear shot of an extractor or vent of some kind and that woke both my partner and i on a few occasions. All in all it is definitely a place I would love to visit again, kindest regards, Ellie King

Very welcoming and obliging. Had arranged a birthday lunch for 17 people (non-residents) in a private dining room at this hotel on the Sunday. This went very smoothly - food and organisation excellent. Service helpful but unobtrusive. Did not feel rushed - our diners stayed around for 3 hours. Had the feel of country house more than hotel.

Excellent staff, I particularly appreciated the honesty of the breakfast staff member who picked up and returned the 20 pound note that I dropped after paying my bill.The quiet and privacy was also appreciated. The food was excellent too.

The restaurant is excellent. You just have to look past the chintzy furnishings and its really good. Service was great. Very old fashioned and could really do with an update (cracked sink, tired carpets).The rooms were also very hot.

They owner and staff are the best and the food is excellent, nothing is too much trouble, I was even upgraded the bedrooms are superior and well equiped with everything you need, even an iron and ironing board.Worth every penny.I Was there for a friends wedding the hotel did a fantastic job
