The breakfast was quite good, but nothing else special. The location is away from the center. The room was very small, the hotel looked so old, the room wasn't clean. No indication about the city at the reception, neither about public transport. Never I'ld pay so expensive for a hotel like this one!!!!!

Terrible experience. Only good thing to say is good location. Worst hotel ever stayed in. Horrible experience None of staff spoke English or had very little English. They even spoke to each other in Spanish or portugese in front of customers. Messed up our credit cards with authorisations saying did not go through when bank confirmed did. We got parking ticket setting down outside to unload bags and dealing with credit card mess up. First room terrible. Ground floor on alley. Too hot. And small. Bed hard as nails. One paper thin pillow each a joke. Air conditioner broken. No fan. On top of noisy vent and smashing bottles outside not good when have 3 yr old. Cot too small. Old terrestial tv broken slates in bathroom. When we requested move for next night moved to better room but told no extra sheets when daughter had bed accident in middle of night as all rooms booked??? Pool freezing cold and had to pay for sauna. Powdered scrambled eggs for breakfast?? 4 star hotel a lie. No star hotel. Worst hotel experience ever.

We couldn't undestand how this hotel was awarded 4 stars. The room was extremely small, the bed and pillows uncomfortable, breakfast poor, bathroom average with horrible soap etc. We've stayed in much better hotels at all star ranges!

The staff were very friendly and helpful I would not recommend this hotel due mainly to the very small size of the rooms. There is hardly room to move and store luggage. Also, the noise from the nearby underground trains was a constant irritation. Although nothing to do with the hotel, we were unfortunately mugged within 50 yards of the front door which overall has left us never wanting to return.

The noise! The tube passes (outside) really close to the hotel and the noise is very big day and night. Very disappointing, especially when one asks for a quiet room!!!! I will not go back

Value for money, fairly quiet (apart from tube train noise), good location for museums/Albert Hall. Very small room for a triple, on top floor so bathroom cramped in the eaves with sloping roof and poor lighting. Not what I'd expect in a 4- star hotel.

I liked nothing about the Henry viii hotel. In my online booking I requested a quiet room away from the road and traffic in front of the hotel, I also doubled checked this special request verbally by telephoning twice the Henry VIII's reception staff, who both confirmed verbally to me that a quiet room had been reserved for me, away from the road and vehicle traffic in front of the hotel. But when I checked in and entered my room, it had a big double french door window, facing a busy street with very load vehicle traffic noise. This same above window in my hotel room was not sound proofed or double glazed in any way at all. I did walk back to reception and asked for my hotel room to be changed, but the lady on reception even used a plan of the hotel, to find me two hotel rooms away from the road and vehicle traffic in front of the hotel. But again both of these two alternative rooms were both facing the road in front of the hotel, with busy vehicle traffic. I had to discover this myself as I had to walk from reception with my luggage, to these alternative hotel rooms and back twice, which frustrated even more. The reception person said there is no manager available in the hotel, he is only contactable by mobile telephone. This same hotel receptionist, said she would leave a voice message on the hotel managers mobile telephone, for him to call my hotel room, but yes you guessed it he did not call my hotel room. The room itself was full of very cheap horrible furniture, like a children’s bedroom. The hotel rooms electric hair dryer had previously melted on the front nozzle. This same electric hairdryer’s power cable was attached directly into a power socket on the wall, so to change the hairdryer you would have to change to a completely different hotel room. In the bathroom parts of the wall were falling apart. The television was the smallest one I had ever seen in a hotel room, in my life. Just everything in that hotel room was very cheap and tacky.

The hotel was fine and the location was good - a five minute walk to Paddington Station and Tube, short walk to a laundromat in Queensway, and other shopping, quick bus ride to Nottinghill and Portabello Rd, and Hyde Park at the end of the street. There is also a great pub across the street called the Leinster Arms where we ate often. Would stay here again. The only negative we had was that the beds were a little hard - not good when travelling and wanting comfort.

Good location for shopping, walking in the park and evening shows and dinner. Friendly, helpful staff and excellent breakfast. Only negative was the underground train noise in the early morning but otherwise slept OK. See above plus bathroom rather small.

Good location The hotel is not 4 star hotel as it is advertised. The rooms are very very small. The wardrobe door could not open because the bed was too close. They must make their room bigger. The bathroom is very small too and need more cleaning.

Cleanliness; polite staff; nice buffet breakfast; comfortable bed (but quite small); decent bathroom; quiet street; adequate in-room amenities like tea/coffee kettle, safe, iron w/board, wall clock; 5 min walk to bus station; 10/15 min walk to three tube stations and Paddington train station; close to Hyde Park; reasonable price. Very small rooms; thin walls; creaky floors; close to a rail track (a train passes every 5 min); small tv with only 7 channels; worn-out telephone.

There were lots of reviews dogging this hotel: Rooms are small. But in the 1700/1800's, all rooms were small. If you want a spacious room go to a hotel that was built in the last 50 years. Get a suite. Go to Texas. I found the rooms clean, and comfortable. I thought the breakfast was decent. Not 5 star, but we ate there every day, never thought "never again". The real gem of this hotel was the staff. They were very friendly, helpful, and real. Not stuffy, or distant, not servants. Good people who like their job, like people, and want to help you make your stay a good one. I really enjoyed my stay there. Went in August 2011, with wife and 8 month old baby for 2 weeks. The hotel is shabby (But not ghetto - just 'lived in'), and the decor was not the most amazing... Maintenance could do a better job, but all in all they kept it running smoothly. The pool was pretty cold. All of these are off set by the location, staff, and value. Easily.
