Just a 10-minute walk from Edinburgh Castle, at the top of the Royal Mile, the Herald House Hotel is less than 1-mile from Princes Street’s shops and park. A 24-hour front desk and laundry facilities are included at this bed and breakfast. Haymarket Train Station is a 5-minute taxi ride away and Edinburgh international Conference Center can be reached after a 15-minute walk. Murrayfield Stadium is 1.5 miles away and Edinburgh Zoo is less than a 10-minute drive from Herald House. A buffet breakfast is served in the dining room and guests can relax with a drink in the lounge area. A TV, tea and coffee facilities and a hairdryer are included in each simply decorated room. I chose Herald House from the photos provided as a 'hotel of choice' for the conference I was attending because it looked quaint with the stone front. I wanted a hotel that had a 'feel' of Edinburgh and I found it. Simple, comfortable, clean, economical accommodations with a super staff who were always willing to help us with our 'tourist' questions. Breakfast was wonderful. Location was convenient to everything we wanted to do. Bravo Herald House and thank you! Shower was a bit small compared to what we have in America and what would be found in a posh hotel but it was certainly adequate especially once we figured out how to use the European-style instant hot water regulator.

When I have to stay in Edinburgh my choise is always the Herald House Hotel .There is everything I need . The Staff is always friendly , very competent and like to help and the rooms are clean. I've always enjoyed my staying at the Herald House Hotel.

The hotel is in a quiet location about 3/4 mile from Princes Street.Room was ready when we arrived at 11 am which was a big bonus. Friendly staff. Full monty for breakfast Bit pricey for what it is but fine for a rugby weekend.

For the price it was good value rooms were clean little on the small side. Good variety of food for breakfast served to you. Staff were friendly and willing to help out with directions. It was very noisy outside early hours of the morning but cant blame the hotel for that. The bathroom was too small and the beds were a bit uncomfortable. Too far away from the night life had to get taxis.

The staff are excellent. My husband and I have stayed here several times, and the continuity of good staff service is fantastic. Have started to notoice that the bedrooms, although clean, are getting a little shabby.

A good, value for money hotel close to the city centre. Very comfortable rooms with tv and tea making facilities although the bathrooms are on the small size. No complaints from anyone in a party of ten sharing three triple rooms and one double. No complaints.

Good location, reasonablypriced, lovely staff, clean. It has a lift. For a city as cold as Edinburgh in winter the heating was not the best. Besides the staff it felt a little impersonal.

The staff was very accomodating and very helpful. The room was very nice. This was our last night in Edinburgh and we were exhausted after four days of duck hunting so we really did not have a chance to explore our surroundings.

The free breakfast is in a room with 10 tables and is always overcrowded with guests. The paid internet timer is alot quicker than it quotes I timed it. They will not help with any requests no matter how small it's petty. We asked to borrow two drinking glasses from reception and they said no you have twO plastic cups for your toothbrushes use them

Unfailing helpfulness of all the staff. Great breakfasts. Ease of access to city by bus, train or walking. Proximity to a range of good restaurants in easy walking distance of hotel. Comfortable room with almost all you needed. Not a complainmt as such. Room was a single, which was fine for one person. However, it was difficult when I had a visitor as there was only one chair (and in fairness, only room for one chair).
