“It was affordable, central to Derby, and the hotel is currently having a refurb, so improvements are I'm sure on the way. The room was clean and the breakfast pleasant, and crucially for me, free wifi.”

I stayed here before and had a good time however I hated this time only one plug socket in the room, I had no where to plug my laptop or to charge my phone unless I unplugged the tv, no remote for tv either and breakfast as changed for the worse from full english to continental very disappointed and I wont be staying there again

We arrived and was given a run down smoking room which we didn't request on reservation. We soon told reception we wasn't happy so was transferred to a non smoking room. The bed was old! Broken base and a cheap matress. Made our stay very unenjoyable due to lack of sleep. Was aware of the hotel being refurbished however this hotel should not stay open for trading during this time if you can't get the simple things like the beds right! 0/10 and very disappointed !

The location is very accessible and its accommodation, price and services are beyond compare. As a whole the hotel is superb! Just a little adjustment of the radiator.

I found the staff extremely helpful and courteous in every way and in all parts of the hotel.I had a severe attack of gout dring my stay and the staff were so good to me in helping me in my state of relative immobility. For that alone I would stay there again if business took me to Derby. The key cards which often didin't work and the lack of wi-fi in the first room I was given (though they changed the room for me after the first day)>

What a shame!! This hotel used to be one of Derbys best. I don't think it's seen much maintenance for many years. The hotel is supposed to be undergoing refurbishment but not much evidence of that! The surrounding area is also very run down.

Well presented reception area Out dated room, windows were not double glazed and all noise from outside transpired. The blinds were broke, remote for the tv was broke. The hair dryer looked like it had been installed when the building was built. The door in the corridor out side our room made a loud noise which was loud enough to awaken us through the night and at 6am when the early birds were off to work.

The windows in our room were disgusting, the muck and dirty around the window had been left to build up for quite some time. Apart from that our room was clean.

The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The price was very reasonable and included a half-decent breakfast. Bar-restaurant area very smart. Very modern lobby interior. Tea bags and milk availability in the room could have been a bit more generous. Windows were rather ancient! Radiators could do with thermostatic valves to regulate the room temperature better.

The most wonderful thing is that the hotel has no stairs outside and inside there is a lift, so that you do not have to carry your heavy luggage up and down on the stairs which is one of the best things. Everything is nice about this hotel: the cleaning, the continental breakfast, the professional and friendly staff and especially the price which is half that I paid at Cambridge for a college room. A room at Metro Inns has all the qualities to please anyone. It is also important that Metro Inns Hotel is situated in the very heart of Derby -10 min from the coach station and 5 min from the shopping centre. It was a delight to have a nice clean and warm room in the chilly days of April. The noise at the weekend from the nightclub at the back of the hotel.

Perfect for my purposes. I stayed in the upgraded single room this time which is far better than the standard room. There is a 42" flat screen TV(curiously without freeview),a min-fridge,a microwave and a larger bed Very chilly in the bedroom at night.

We didn't have e refubished room and this was very basic, if I were you I would spend an extra £10.00 and you would get better quality if you are spending I little more time in the room. Ok for young people that are using this as some where just to sleep after a night out.

Free parking. Alpen for breakfast. Bed comfortable The key worked in the door! This hotel is in transition from the Heritage Hotel to the Metro Inn. It has very different standards in different rooms; I saw 4 rooms and all were exactly the same size and structural layout, but all had completely different taps, wardrobes, tvs, chairs, light fittings, showerheads, number of pillows, curtains. It is almost as if they are fitting the rooms with second hand stuff they've found in a charity shop. It wasn't awful - the bed was comfortable which is my number one need and I managed to get a relatively good nights sleep on each of the 4 nights I was there, but the curtains didn't cover the windows, the chair had lost all its padding so was very uncomfortable, the tv remote did not work, there was no "do not disturb" sign for the door. I complained about all these things and not one of the problems was resolved. In essence - it simply wasn't worth what they were charging. They need much higher standards to justify their charges.

Excellent location. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Well priced. Basic single room is very basic. Next week I'm moving into one of the Superior single rooms which for £5 extra a night seem a bargain. It didn't bother me but some travelers may be put off by the noise from the nightclub

I don't think this refurb is actually happening. The room had a blind at the window, but it didn't block out any view, discretion, or daylight. It was broken and should have been an absolute embarrassment to any half decent establishment. The parking is free. The staff were lovely, friendly, and helpful. As stated above the room was a disgrace, the remote was for a different tv, the blind was useless and the bed was so-so. We have stayed before and we know its cheap, but this time it really wasn't anywhere near cheerful!!!

Nothing in fact I had an awful nights sleep wondering if our motoerbike would still be thee in the morning. Entertainment was free..... Watching the prostitutes out of the very old fashioned windows Old uncomfortable chair in room television that kept losing the picture and in an intimidating location
