Excellent Breakfast, served with such enthusiasm and great attention. Hotel is well located and there is a very pleasant walk into the centre of Skipton along the canal tow path.
The hotel does not have a lift and the the stairs might be challenging to some.
The staff went the extra mile. The decor of the hotel and the atmosphere. The town was a lovely mix of traditional and modern, something for everyone. Position right on the canal side and close to the railway.
Nothing to dislike.
Extremely helpful knowledgeable staff. Liked the fact that you could eat in the restaurant or the bar and have anything from a full meal to a light snack lunchtime and evening. Great location for getting into the town and opposite the railway station for further afield travel. Must mention you do not hear any noise from the railway at all.
I did not see a vending machine/ice machine for purchasing a cold drink/bottle of water to take to my room for overnight and the bottle I had became warm whilst we were out and the bar was closed to go and get some ice.
Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Always polite, nothing was a trouble to them. Our room was serviced every day.
There was nothing I didn't like except perhaps the noise of the lift which is really designed to carry wheelchairs, but as I have mobility problems myself it was a great help to me.
The fact that the we could walk along the canal to the centre and the the actual hotels decor was lovely along with service and staff. The food was also gorgeous. We really enjoyed our stay and will be recommending it too our friends.
A hotel with a difference - lots of character. Well situated right outside the station and within walking distance of the town centre.
Our room was right above the function suite - fortunately there was nothing noisy going on the nights we were there but guess this could be a problem sometimes.
Location, friendly staff
The décor looks very gloomy
Good location for railway station, rooms very clean and comfortable, nice bathroom. Breakfast excellent choices. Thoroughly recommended
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a great range of cooked options which were very good quality ..Room was comfy and spotless.
Very noisy plumbing from bathroom above....every time they used toilet in night...which was often, we were woken. Less of a problem but our room was at the top of stairs so lots of people passing.
Being across the street from the station was perfect, and is only a few minutes walk away from town. Breakfast was really nice Staff were very friendly and polite. Great value for money, especially if sharing
Shower was a bit temperamental.
Convenient for public transport, particularly the station. The location, backing on to the canal.
Staff were great, food was fine,
I was not aware there would be 32 steps to get to our room. They need a lift for older folks.
- well not at Herriots, excellent real ale on tap, fine food in the restaurant, and an excellent room. Didn't break the bank either.
Fairly central location (5 mins walk to town) and opposite the rail station; free car parking; restaurant staff.
A little on the expensive side for what you get. Noise from traffic if your room overlooks the road - our didn't, fortunately.
food and staff
Noisy ducks at first light. Bar was a bit quiet.
Quiet location, spacious comfortable room. Good breakfast and pleasant staff.
The long wait for hot water, this could be improved by having a pumped loop with no tap more than a metre from the loop.
Welcomed by a friendly front desk. Some other members of staff also friendly. The bed and bathroom were clean.
The choice of colour scheme and décor is rather gloomy and old fashioned. The sash window in our bedroom was very heavy to lift and could only be raised by a few inches (possibly for security?). An older guest would find this impossible and I suspect that this has been mentioned before but not acted upon. Breakfast was not a high point : the coffee was really poor and had a stewed taste; when I asked for marmalade I was abruptly informed that there was none.
Location Dining room Food Bar Room
Shower very poor water pressure WiFi not available in our room
On arrival we were given free upgrade which was a lovely surprise. Best breakfast definitely VFM.
Very friendly and helpful staff, Excellent food had both breakfast and dinner
The hotel is 2 minutes walk from the train station. The food in the Rhubarb restaurant is really good, the Steak and ale pie is worth going to Skipton for on its own. Comfortable bed and a very quiet room made for a good sleep. This hotel has a lovely design is has achieved the cross over from traditional to contemporary in a seemless mix of colour and design.
The television on the wall is a little too high to view from the bed.
room size and view over cannel. Bed very comfortable.
Electrical noise all night in room. Very poor shower. Little space to put toiletries. Very late check in (3pm).
We stayed two nights at this hotel both nights there was a wedding taking place the mouse from both wedding reception was horrendous it kept us awake till the early hours I would never stay at this hotel again when there is a wedding taking place
Bed comfy Clean
Toilet paper single tissue yuk Not enough shelf space in bathroom No towel rail
Cleanliness, location good, nice reception staff in fact all staff were very efficient and helpful. Lovely room. We did have help with our bags on departure.
Sunday Lunch which was a bit of a joke our family met up with us - 7 of them and a baby . Some of them ordered soup and it was cold and had to be sent back.We waited forever for the main course when it finally came the beef was very rare which most of us could not cut never mind eat. Dessert was ok however but little time to eat it as they had a baby with them and had to move on. On arrival no one to help with cases up 3 flights of stairs - we are both in our 70´s !! We thought checking in time 3 pm a little late.
