Spectacular bedroom with a massive bathroom, loved the billiard room and had a great breakfast. The actual manor house and grounds are nice, but a little underwhelming.
Room was excessively, and sleep prohibitively, hot. With no apparent way to turn down the heating after fumbling with radiators, we had to open the windows in mid-December!
Everything was wonderful. The room was beautiful and a really good size. The bed was enormous and amazingly comfortable. The bathroom was warm and comforting with its 'big enough for two' roll top bath.
Nothing to dislike.
The castle, the accommodation, everything.
Very lovely accommodation and service in a beautiful location.
We would have like to have two arm chairs in the room so we could sit and read without sitting on the bed.
I think Henry would approve of the Astor Wing. The Astors and their architect created a marvellous fantasy village in 1905 which lends itself perfectly to the high quality B and B accommodation which now occupies the buildings .
Very little. A degree of soundproofing to the door to our room would reduce echoing voices in the corridor though this is a very common problem in even some of the best hotels.
Friendly, helpful staff, warm welcome. Requested room 'Snowdrop' which was granted. Large comfortable bed, deep roll top bath and walk in shower. Lovely decor in a building full of character. Attention to detail, fresh floral displays. Delicious breakfast. Tickets to visit castle and grounds included in the room rate Altogether fabulous return visit!
The only thing to detract from a wonderful visit was the poor mobile phone reception, which is outwith the control of Hever Castle
The buildings themselves are magnificent, atmospheric, with beautiful, well kept gardens, The staff are warm, welcoming, friendly and very helpful and contributed to making our stay most enjoyable and memorable. We will definitely return.
There is absolutely nothing to dislike about Hever Castle! The only way that I could think of improving it would to be to provide more directional road signs, or perhaps a map on the booking page since we got lost!
everything from the moment we stepped out of the car staff extremely attentive but not obtrusive. sumptuous room sumptuous grounds the best place in the world to chill!!!!!
nothing at all but the forthcoming bar will be nice
- fantastic, breathtaking hotel - breakfast excellent - wetroom supurb - snookerroom pleasure to be in
- wifi codes given, but no connection was possible, used dataroaming - staff uniforms need renewing - would benefit to have a bar in the lounge
The castle and hotel are fabulous! 5* for service, cleanliness and comfort. Free wifi and lovely comfy bed! Stunning interior design in each room. Would definitely stay again.
There was a private event on which meant we couldn't stay at the hotel for dinner or visit the bar in the evening which was a real shame. But we were given a list of local pubs to visit. I really recommend the little brown jug pub! Which is a 5-10 min drive away.
The location was fabulous and visiting the castle made the visit really special (The audio tour is highly recommended). Walking around the grounds before the public was a real treat. The decor was sumptuous, the bed super comfortable and the slipper bath we had was luxurious. The staff were friendly and efficient and the service excellent. The breakfast was freshly cooked and the best I have ever had. Nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend this accommodation without hesitation and would love to visit again.
There were aeroplanes overhead but really it did not matter a great deal to us. It would have been nice to have a restaurant but we knew about this beforehand and there were plenty of places to eat out locally.
Comfort Private guided tour with excellent guide Torches provided for Henry 8th Pub which has great food
Finding Hever Castle
- true genuine English atmosphere - nice quiet sitting area - very nice breakfast - guided tour of the castel part of the price - nice location - restaurants nearby
- various rooms make there is no real "central" point to meet other people (apart from the reading/music room)
Loved the room & the fact you were staying at Hever Castle. The staff were very helpful & attentive. Liked that you get tickets for entry into the Castle
The fact that the front door closed at 12pm.
The staff were very accommodating and helpful; dashing out with an umbrella in the rain, opening breakfast a few minutes early, turning up the heating. Walking the grounds on a crisp, sunny November morning was glorious.
Breakfast fixed at 8:30-9:30 doesnt brook much flexibility for the guests. No spare bed clothes when the evening turned cold
We liked absolutely everything. From my first email until we left we were treated like royalty. Nothing any trouble. Setting perfect. Staff wonderful
Hever Castle tour not disability accessable.
I loved the location alongside the castle - we could see the castle from our window, which was amazing. Also loved the beautiful grand Spanish dining room where breakfast was served - such an atmosphere of history there. Staff was helpful - before and during the visit; made sure that the extra requests on the booking (e.g. extra bed) were well accommodated. Finally, loved the room - spacious and pretty, with a super comfortable bed, safe box, tea service, attention to detail.
Can't think of anything we didn't like.
Huge and beautifully appointed room View from window Comfortable four-poster bed Wonderful shower Superb breakfast Free access to castle and gardens
The room was amaizing! Being all on our own in the grounds!
Waiting for my hamper to be delivered.(made arangements for it to be delivered to our room)
Quiet, very comfortable. Recommend the King Henry VIII pub almost across the road.
Really enjoyed my stay but a few negatives. I was surprised to be asked to pay my account on arrival and before I had even seen the room! The room was good. The bathroom could do with more lighting for shaving. It is certainly fully priced and the current building works detract from appearance on arrival.
We wanted to visit Hever Castle to find out about the history involving Anne Boleyn. We discovered that there was an attached wing where we could stay for bed & breakfast. This was really a bonus as we were able to relax in the lovely surroundings & enjoy an included visit to the castle & grounds. The staff were very pleasant & efficient & the rooms were charming. We had a beautiful day weather wise to look round the castle & grounds & really enjoyed it. Breakfast was very good, served in grand surroundings.
Hever is quite isolated & there is no restaurant. However there is a pub close at hand which was very good but we had to walk up a very dark road to get there.
The rooms in the Astor suite are beautiful in all respects. We really enjoyed our beautiful bedroom, the proximity to the Castle and gardens and playing snooker after dinner. The provision of champagne glasses and ice bucket is a very good idea.
It was very disconcerting to be told on arrival that our reservation was for 1 night when we had booked 2 nights in a feature room. Luckily we had our booking confirmation with us. Our gate security number didn't work the first night. We had been given someone else's. Our heating didn't work to begin with but did after the radiator was bled. The bathroom rad never worked in spite of 2 requests by us.The lack of evening dining is a pity as the walk to the nearest pub is very hairy in the pitch dark. Provide a torch? To sum up,we expected more attention to detail in luxury accommodation.
I love Hever Castle, everything about it, room, staff, grounds.
Would have liked the central heating off, got a bit to warm at night.
Warm friendly welcome lovely grounds of the castle to stroll round excellent room amazing bathroom very comfortable bed not easy to get a mobile phone signal but that's not a bad thing.
Friendly, unpretentious staff, cosy bedroom, good bathroom with walk-in power shower, lovely location, access to Hever Castle, good breakfast in stunning room, reading the papers in Lord Astor's sitting room,Snooker room
Not a lot (Could do with a light over the sink in the bathroom)
