Staff very knowledgable particularly about local attractions and the history of the hotel itself. Beautiful grounds with acres and acres of open space. The hotel is being refurbished, which may cause some inconvenience to guests. |

the swimming pool and spa were first class and open until 10 pm which is great for people who work late the breakfast was a shambles, supposed to be 7-00 am but 1st day was 7-20 which is no good when you have to get to work on time and 3rd day was plated ,instead of buffet as described because there wasnt enough people in the hotel |

The swimming pool was nice, and the main building had impressive elements. The room that we were originally booked into was awful. It was too small, the bathroom was very dated and the tv set was embarrassing -pre 1970s! The window pane was rotting and the room was just not inviting, it completely ruined the weekend. We had to upgrade our room, but even the facilities in this room was below par. |

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The house itself was very impressive and the grounds were great to walk around. The room in the Archer wing was very clean but was a bit small. |

Hotel its self was impresive to view but look closer and there is a lot of work needed. The grounds are very impresive and peacefull however the leisure resort and golf club was closed due to re furbishment, hopefully the owners shall extend the refurbishment to the iterior soon. The rooms as other reviews have outined are very basic and small, the hallway in the wings leading to the rooms have lowered ceilings with ceiling tiles, looks very 70's.... we only paid half prie so this was acceptable for a night away. Did not eat (only B fast) wedding on so not much service avaliable for normal guests. |

I thought the hotel has a lot of potential to become a fantastic place to stay and relax. The hotel is very nicely place for visiting local attractions. I understand there is a refurbishment in progress, but I was appalled at the room we stayed in a326. Clearly nothing has happened to the hotel much since it ceased to be a training centre, the accommodation is not what one would expect, something I heard other guest comment on also. Under normal circumstances I would have not stayed there, but I felt that I would not let a substandard room spoil what was around us. It's a shame it's taken 9 years to get round to sorting the place out, stick at it and do it properly and you have the potential to succeed. I recently stayed at the Oulton Devere (Leeds) you could be an equal without a doubt, if the investment is there. |

The beautiful dark haired lady playing the Grand Piano beside the bar. She played perfectly, and i stayed in the bar longer than i normally would have done, just to hear her play !! When i went out to congratulate her, she had gone. ( i wish i had asked her name ) !!! Everything was fine !! |

The quiet location; the breakfasts. It was well placed to travel to other parts of the Cotswolds. We were very pleased with the Blenheim Palace ticket offer. Having booked a standard room, not being able to afford anything else, we had not expected it to be so small. The bed was not comfortable and the shower was virtually unusable - cracked and dirty tiles made it unhygenic to use (my wife has a life-limiting illness and cannot be exposed to possible infection). Hotel was advertised as having a swimming pool, this was not available on our visit (3 - 8 Sept.'09). |

It offered fantastic value for money. We felt that we were guests in a stately home. Te building and grounds are are worth a visit on there own! Wonderful Cotswold location. It would be nit picking to criticise anything about Heythrop. |

Best value night's stay I've ever had! We were upgraded into magnificient rooms (Booking.com had failed to let the hotel know we needed a twin for the children, so they were upgraded again!). The grounds are amazing. (I'm not into golf but I imagine the new facilities will be fantastic when they are ready). The house is a stately home; very interesting history. We had food from the bar menu - the steak was the best cooked we've had in a long time. We were treated like royalty throughout. |

The comfort of the room, but we were upgraded for nothing. Lovely big bathroom. It was a pity that the rooms were not quite up to scratch for the amount that they were charging (again we didn't pay what the room would normally cost). Although a hairdryer was provided, there was no socket close to a mirror. The bottom of the shower door was faulty so that when you left the shower water would be all over the floor. Surprisingly, there were no chest of drawers or silmilar in which to place our clothes. I thought this was really silly, as there was ample space for hanging clothes. However, we really enjoyed our stay and these little complaints would only have jarred if we had been paying £175+ for the room. |

The hotel has real potential with lovely walks and views. We enjoyed sitting on the terrace to read and relax.Staff were very pleasant and helpful - eager to be of assistance and engaging. (Though th maid was over enthusiastic and our room had been cleared before we had checked out!) The hotel doesn't 'know what it wants to be' - very stately and grandiose with tiny bedrooms and rather tatty decor. We ate breakfast in a dark side room as the restaurant was given over to 3 weddings during our 3 day stay. People struggled to find a table for breakfast and very hard working staff were run off their feet. |
