With an 18-hole golf course and a health club with spa, the new Crowne Plaza Oxford is set in the 440-acre Heythrop Park Resort in the Oxfordshire countryside.
Score from 239 reviews Good
Originally a 15th-century coaching inn, this refurbished hotel offers a relaxing home away from home in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds.
Score from 566 reviews Good
This luxury, 4-star Gothic mansion is set within 40 acres of lush parkland.
Score from 136 reviews Fabulous
This luxury country-house hotel is situated in the Cotswolds, with wonderful views over 100 acres of grounds.
Score from 385 reviews Very good
every thing but...
staff were quite rude also small bedrooms in old part of hotel.
Black and white dining room
The fact we were given a lower standard of room than we had booked and paid for.
Really helpful Frenchman on reception who guided me in by phone and was great. I had been "parked" on the motorway for 2.5 hours due to an accident and ended up arriving really late and got completely lost on the sat nav as the hotel isn't in Heythrop and the postcode is wrong.
The postcode is wrong on the booking.com website and led me to Heythrop in the middle of nowhere. Not great when driving on own and at 11.40pm in the dark. The hotel is actually 5 miles away from Heythrop. Put "The Drive, Enstone" into sat nav to get there. Also, when you arrive, there is the Crown Plaza hotel and then the De Vere Venues. You need to know which one you've booked. Signs very small, poorly lit and difficult to read in the dark from a car. Bed too soft for me personally. Bathroom wasn't very clean and mould around the shower/soap dispenser. However, I was so shattered, I couldn't be bothered to check out the rest of the room in great detail.
The website failed to show the real look of the room I stayed in. The building my room was in felt like a student dormitory and the room was very small. Apart from that it is a beautiful hotel.
Pretty location in woods in old mansion.
In the middle of nowhere. If you want a beer you must eat here. The receptionist said we must eat in the restaurant. Later, in the bar area, we found there are pretty good bar meals, luckily found it before the dinner in the restaurant which was pricey.
Excellent value for money with great facilities. Very friendly staff and guests.
Very big site so a good walk to the spa. WiFi poor.
Staff attitude very good.
Lack of communication between the High paid Staff and junior members. The bar prices were out of touch with the real world.
Location is everything we wanted, the food was excellent and the Concierge Alan is very Knowledge able, the surrounding really beautiful , requires a lot of work. Slept like a log no noise . Will come back later when it is done
The receptionist not a smile, no explanation even though we did not have the rooms we booked, very sad unwilling to help. The spa same story not helpful at all. The swimming pool cool not warm. A shame They could do so much more.
The walk around the grounds was quiet and picturesque. Beautiful house, inside and out. Good if unspectacular breakfast. Lovely, welcoming atmosphere and staff. Huge room.
One radiator was stick on in our room and made it a little too warm. Resorted to having the window above it open to mitigate the heat
Stunning location The concierge fellow was absolutely charming Great breakfast Amazing bathroom and shower!
The man on reception was unfriendly and not very welcoming. only way to plug in kettle was placing it on the floor!
Grounds were beautiful as were the public rooms
On the ground floor . Woke up to ""activities "" above. Could hear everything
The hotel has an outstanding building and it looks historical.
The location is a bit far from Oxford
The estate and the main house are stunning, but normal old house issues. Quiet.
Felt like they were geared towards the business visitor and on-site conferences. No good if you don't have a car unless you are a serious walker.
Location, the building and the sauna all great.
The bed was too soft, the internal doors are noisy and the bathroom was very small.
The distance from anywhere else. Also the costs of the meals
Actually thought a single room might have a single bed, pleased it was a double.
The pillows - less pillow more brick!
Location and spa. Price was value for money but not an enjoyable experience.
Room and entire wing very dated and not maintained well, reminded me of the standard of budget hotels in the 80's. Bad smell of smoke and general uncleanliness, paint falling off bathroom walls, stained shower, tired bed...
The rooms and the infestation of cluster flies
lovely to be able to enjoy the beautiful grounds. Great photo opportunities A comfortable drive from Heathrow
rooms a bit pokey Our friends getting an upgrade but not us, especially since it was us that did the bookings.
The main building
The entrance to the BUDGET rooms
The hotel and surroundings are stunning
The state of the paintwork is really poor. A carpark would be better instead of parking in front of the building.
Location and aspect of venue and grounds superb.
Staff not helpful, assumed we knew our way around the facility and didn't assist with finding our room even when asked.
Grounds and gym
Poor quality and cleanliness of room, broken shower, lack of clear information when booking and on arrival to hotel as to which hotel is which. Misleading advert on website as to which part of the hotel you will be staying in.
convenient location waitress in the Brassey restaurant was polite, attentive and helpful
unfriendly welcome: although I was staying on my own my husband and dog accompanied me to check in, several members of reception staff made it clear that dogs were NOT ALLOWED, being told once, politely, would have been enough, interrupting the check in process to repeatedly tell me did not facilitate the process. I accepted this policy stating that husband and dog were never intended as guests and that the dog would be returned to the car ...once I'd checked in. There was a definite attitude of unfriendliness towards me and of fear that someone more senior may catch staff not enforcing the NO DOG rule. There was minimal help in finding a dining option within the hotel. Carelessness (?) in processing my bill would have resulted in over charging for dinner had I not checked the bill. Inadequate parking close to bedrooms Too large an establishment conjoined to Crowne Plaza with integrated facilities made it impersonal For such an impressive building the grounds were somewhat neglected and shabby
