Location and aspect of venue and grounds superb.
Staff not helpful, assumed we knew our way around the facility and didn't assist with finding our room even when asked.
extremly bad housekeeping. not even up to a 2 star hotel standard.
Comfy beds.nice duvets.
Windows were mouldy.shower gel empty.wifi connection appalling.
comfortable beds and location, decent coffee and tea making facilities, the cleanliness of the room,
not expecting to be given a very small economy room on check in, no proper clothes storage only a clothes rail sitting beneath a shelf about 5 to 6ft up on the wall which protruded out hence you had to be aware not to bump your head every time you went to the bathroom this I did eventually when going to the bathroom in the middle of the night
The grounds and the original building
The hotel was not well thought out. Room was not clean and inappropriate placement of sanitary bags. Breakfast was limited
Room Was unbeatable
Restaurant food was of very poor standard and not worth a visit.
Room clean and comfortable
Noise travelled and in the morning at 7.30am 5 motor bikes started up and sat idling for a good 15 mins. Also a large do went on quite late and lots of noise until 2am, so a rather sleepless night!
Rooms are very dated, feels like being in an institution. Noisy corridor , phone didn't work, no fridge , no bottled water.could hear next door snoring all night. Didn't think hotels still existed this bad
Location. Food. Lovely woodland setting. Preferred rooms in Crowne Plaza.
This is really two separate hotels, De Vere and Crowne Plaza which causes confusion to guests and staff. Rooms in De Vere are tired and in need of refurbishment. No hairdryer in expensive room in the De Vere part Booked four rooms (three in Crowne Plaza, one in De Vere) and experienced much confusion, both before and during stay.
The location for blenheim palace was good, the hotel was clean and the staff friendly and helpful.
The bed was so squeaky every time you moved on it it was annoying and the toilet seat squeaked too. I thought £20 for breakfast was exessive. I didnt like the crowne plaza hotel next door, it concrete nature totally detracts from the hall
Golf course excellent
A slightly musty smell in the corridors
Comfortable room Helpful staff Characterful old building Prompt service in restaurant
Extra services included (swimming pool, sauna, hammam, sport center) with good employees. Excellent restaurant (great food)
Extremely bad welcome at reception (not honest, not happy), they can't check our reservation details if you have troubles (errors in our options...).
A Stately home with magnificent entrance hall, side rooms, and rear gardens in its own grounds Booking excellent meals at nearby places in advance, especially when the breakfast room turned out to be closed anyway. The staff 'not' asking if everything was all right.
Single glazed sash windows and no ventilation even in the bathrooms means condensation and black mould is persistent, luckily it was summer. Old mattresses, poky bedrooms seemingly targeted at one night stopover low grade conference attendees who apparently want bedrooms opposite to meeting rooms. Paper thin walls, noisy toilets. Probably needs a complete rebuild.
Pool Peace and quiet Cheap and cheerful
They took more deposit than my stay cost and still haven't refunded the difference.
Magnificent House and grounds. Spa facilities very good. On site Golf Course available. Nice modernised Rooms with Wet Room.
Noisy Ventilation in Bathroom
Very comfortable beds, good shower/room, speedy complimentary WiFi, stunning/grand grounds and main building.
Lack of parking near the entrance, lack of directions to the 'wings' that you have to access externally. Didn't see much of the hotel but the room 'wings' in need of upgrading. Has a lot of potential.
Clean. Beautiful location. Handy for touring.
Bedrooms terrible. Box like. Couldn't see tv from bed. Casement window open on arrival at night. Had to stand on chair to try to shove it closed. Bed hard. No extra blanket. Just thin single duvet. Noisy. Doors slamming all night. Hotel took room payment before I was even awake on last day and shoved invoice under door, no opportunity to agree bill. Took room payment off card TWICE! Then refunded it but it will take up to five days to go back into my bank account! When I realised money was missing, manager told me 'not to stress'!!! Well you do stress when you need the money for fuel to get home! Still not back in my account 24 hours later. Breakfast poor. Too few staff. Such a shame as the public areas of the hotel were lovely. A bit all fur coat and no knickers.
Location excellent. Swimming pool nice.
Waited 3 hours for dinner even though not very busy. Room decor was outdated and scruffy. No shower gel in any of the rooms. Breakfast service very poor.
Marvellously impressive buildings and parkland. Staff were generally helpful when problems arose
Only really slept there because out all day at nearby festival. Housekeeping was very random- came back one night to find all towels removed and not replaced-another to find no loo paper. The room never looked quite clean. The soundproofing is poor and the fire doors slam so that part of the hotel is noisy. I was in Archer wing and I gather from other guests that the other part of the hotel (Crown Plaza?) was much better
Very slow service in bar and restaurant
Views, general feel.
No lifts, no bar smacks available at the time
The setting was wonderful.
Tired and smelly rooms. Noise from other guests rooms was particularly intrusive. 3 of our party asked to change rooms because of the musty/burnt smell and were all offered, in succession, the same mildewed alternative, so had to move again. Their final rooms seemed to be located in the midst of a rowdy Hen party, which the front desk seemed reluctant to do anything about, despite multiple complaints. Cheap without the cheerful, so all in all, pretty poor.
