Location, facilities, friendly staff, value for money.

Room was cold, no heating, bed not terribly comfortable

It seemed to br buzzing and busy on a Saturday night in spite if being somlargeBeautiful building

No shampoo in the rooms so I needed to request some.breakfast was an all or nothing affair and I only wanted a light one and not have to pay so much for a full buffet,

Loved the hotel communal areas, the outside building, the inside lobby, common rooms, bar area. Lots of nooks and crannies for privacy, or large areas if you want to enjoy the buzz. The grounds are fantastic with a small walking trail which was perfect for an easy stroll perfect for a city break. Didn't play the golf course or use the spa, but the pool area was great. Staff are great and helpful and there is certainly a sense of generosity to the entire resort.

We got a twin room and the beds weren't great but for the price I would have been willing to sleep on the floor considering all other facilities.

It was value for money to stay one night before the Blenheim Palace Triathlon. Impressive setting & convenient

Very basic & bland room not in keeping with the overall impression of the hotel. Poor service @ breakfast .

The location

The restaurant service and timings was appalling.

The grounds were beautiful . The hotel was peaceful impressive building to look at especially the entrance & reception area . The staff were welcoming & efficient . Rooms were cleaned every day to a good standard .

The endless corridors to the rooms . Not enough seating in the room itself . Window pane had a long crack in it . The lighting failed in the bathroom on our last morning . The tv broke down one evening . But most of all no mobile phone connection in the room or Internet .

Room was worst I have ever stated in. Small bland and as welcoming as a firing squad. You cannot underestimate how awful the rooms are. Imagine a box room in a small 1930's semi, painted white with an en suite shower room crammed into it. Remove the tv remote just to endure guests cannot fully relax, put in cheap curtains slightly too small to make sure the early morning sun wakes them and avoid air con on case they actually start to get comfortable.

The bar service was very poor. There appeared not to be enough staff to cope with the busy evening. Coffee machine did not work, no ice buckets.

The main car park was closed for a private event on one of the days which meant I had to walk a long way to load/unload my items from my car

Beautiful historic location in wonderful grounds. So relaxing, peaceful & like going back in time.

Rooms are very small and basic, with insufficient hanging space and no drawer space provided.

Very poorly managed, spa was smaller than expected with a small steam room, pool which when we arrive was full of children and the sauna was turned off. Staff hadn't been given proper training and although were trying hard were poorly managed. There was a wedding on when we arrived and the restaurant was taken over so we were sat in another suite, service was poor with our wine arriving after our starter. We were originally sat in the doorway so could hear the wedding disco loud and clear, we also had a cd player directly behind the table which occassionally skipped. We were served by a young waiter with blond hair and no name badge who was very attentive but hadn't been trained, he was more polite than the maitre de who seemed very stressed and preoccupied, however there was 9 tables and a team of 5 waiters. We did feel sidelined in comparison to the wedding so may have been sharing waiters/ maitre de. The room was very small but had everything we needed. Walls were too thin and we didn't sleep due to wedding guests talking not loudly but we could hear everything. We were also on the second floor and the room was very hot however the bed was less than a foot from the window so we would have been in a draft if it had been open. Building needed a lot of tlc, looked very nice from the outside but shabby inside. I ordered a cocktail at the 'spa' to be informed they were not doing cocktails 'that week' with no other explanaition. We paid for dinner immediately after but when we went to leave were faced with somebody elses dinner bill which we had taken off our tab. I booked it on the internet where it said dinner was £25 each however we were charged usual rates as they said we weren't 'all inclusive'. We were so disappointed we didn't stay for the spa the next day or for breakfast so I can't comment on it.

Rodent bait trap in the room below TV cabinet, removed it & placed in one of the hallways with some other ones.

Good Hotel, clean and spacious room, very quiet location.

Not so close to Chipping Norton, half hour by foot to the closest bus stop.

Staff friendly. Food nice.

Room very cramped. Never enough t bags/coffee in room. Certain areas looked very scruffy. Snooker table very poorly looked after. Snooker room hadn't been cleaned. Paid deposit for balls, 3 or 4 colours missing. Restaurants /Bars poorly sign posted. Not enough bar staff. The venue had a wedding and the next morning still glasses and rubbish everywhere (including takeaway packaging).

The hotel itself was scruffy and cold. The building is an old stately home with possibly the least sympathetic treatment of any building I've ever been in. Didn't dare try the food.

It's a beautiful old building on the outside with lovely grounds to walk around. There is a spa on the premises which looked good although we did not use.

The staff where a little bit clueless at times and frequently did not know what was going on abd were cert slow at theur jobs. We booked dinner through the website but when we arrived that information had not been passed on and so took an age to explain that to staff. We then found that this had not guaranteed us a spot in the nice restaurant but rather in something that looked more like a school hall. The hotel is rather worn and tired in places.

The bar and food in other hotel located on premises was good.

On check in we were given a long set of instructions of how to get to our rooms, no help was offered with bags. The rooms were located a long way from reception. Our bathroom was dirty, soap dispenser fell off wall and window in room had a large crack in it with draft. There was no restaurant in the hotel, we had to walk through to another hotel located on the premises taking over 10 minutes with two elder people and a baby. The hotel was not located in Chipping Norton.

The actual building ,architecture and setting were delightful. We were there for golf the following day and had no idea that the CrownePlaza was next door or we'd certainly have stayed there instead.

The room was ghastly, tiny and not dissimilar to university halls of residence. - it didn;'t resemble the picture on the web-site at all.We needed to trek down miles of horrible corridors to get to it too. All in all a mistake!
