Quality of evening meal in restaurant
No internet, or follow up when I complained. Slow, invisible restaurant staff.
Nice view of the Downs. Quiet.
Not enough lighting in bedroom. Rather warm . Air conditioning? Bathroom steamed up after a shower - was the extractor working? A bit expensive for 3 *.
Every member of staff that we met was friendly, helpful and efficient. Rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was good too. Plenty of car parking and nice quiet rural location.
The only thing we didn't like was quickly resolved - a safety device on the windows that prevented them opening more than a small amount. We only had to ask once for this to be dealt with and when we returned to the room, the device had been unlocked.
Loved the location
Beds hard, noisy - we had a room right by reception and there was a wedding reception when we stayed (not attended by us) - guests leaving we're noisy. Breakfast buffet style, good choice but even though under lamps was lukewarm. Decor tired. For the money would rather stay a premier inn!!
Modern, quiet room Good bar and restaurent Manager very responsive to any problems
No easy chair in room Problems with alarm call
Shower went from hot to cold and back again every minute or so
Really great surprise Excellent service great deal with the "Discover Sussex" couldn't believe the choice of menu we were able to from. Well Done Hickstead
Corridors to room needs redecorating but do not be put off.
Hickstead hotel suited our requirements as a comfortable no frills base for visits made during our short stay.
Friendly staff and good food most important to our stay. Would certainly stay again
Nice quiet country setting.
Carrying suitcases up stairs.
Spacious Room Speedy wifi connection Great Breakfast
Receptionist did not smile upon arrival Hotel was a bit tired and shabby Room was dusty and cleaning standards were not great Too expensive for level of accommodation Hotel looked dated and a bit shabby with its décor - appeared slightly neglected
Friendly staff, convenient location, good breakfasts, clean, comfortable room, very quiet.
I found the bed hard, but my husband found it comfortable. The whole place could do with a lick of paint. I would stay there again.
Location friendly staff, links to roads ,room and bed clean
Evening meal was poor
Was grateful that you took my number and phoned me back .
Staff very good. Lovely and quiet.Nice food. Very good value. Good shower (see what I didn't like).
Shower curtains are my bugbear they keep sticking to you when showering.
the food & service
Hot breakfast was only served from 7.00 AM but there was a cold buffet available from 6.30 AM.
Given it is marketed as a country inn, the fact that most of their rooms overlook their parking lot, I feel a ** motel would be a more apt description.
Friendly staff, comfortable bed, excellent parking
Although the food was good, two hours to serve a three course meal seemed somewhat excessive.
Room very hot no air con
Pretty much everything. Was a relaxing stay.
Needs a lift for older people staying upstairs.
The location is very convenient for me. The staff are always extemely friendly and helpful.
The rooms would probably benefit from having electric fans in them when we have very hot weather. The temperature in my room was uncomfortable, and wasn't helped by the fact that the window appeared to be broken, in that it couldn't be opened.
Size of room & bathroom was good Location very convenient to Hickstead park & Burgess Hill Lovely views Generally ok, looked a bit tired in places.
No air conditioning ....room like an oven!! Asked for a fan never came back with response ...take it as a NO No lift had to carry suitcase myself up the stairs (weak female)
Location & Setting
No Shower cubicles in Bath Rooms - Only showers in Baths Hotel starting to get tired Not geared for disabled persons. No Air conditioning Rooms very dark
Major remark: reception was polite but not friendly. Didn't feel as a welcome guest. Check out was a similar "cool and uninterested" experience. Minor remark: room serving temperature for red wine is not 26°C, even on warm days.
