Holiday Inn Express London Stratford  

The hotel is clean and comfortable. Rooms are big and modern. There is going to be a big shopping mall opening in august/ sept 2011 beside the train station.

The staff on duty when I checked in on 21st june were rude and unwilling to help. The room I got was a room for the handicapped, we didnt like it as it felt like a hospital room. When we tried to change the room, the guy who checked us in said we booked a standard room through booking.com at a discounted rate (99 euro). By a standard room, he defines it as any room that is leftover and we cant choose. This is the first time I hear this definition!! The reservations manager carmen was very rude to us as well, pushing us away with the excuse that the hotel is fully booked, not bothering to do anything. Besides this, I booked another non-smoking room for my sister who is arriving the next day. When I checked, it turns out that it is a smoking room. The same guy insist that we did not state in my booking and as usual, said it was a standard room we booked, we cant choose. I had to show him proof that it was indeed a non-smoking room I booked before he reluctantly changed it. The whole checking in experience was terrible, everything went wrong!! Luckily for us, there is this other man on duty that night and when we approached him, he offered to change a room for us the next day and wrote a note for the colleague taking over him the next morning. I am really grateful for what he did, else we will be stuck in a room we didnt like for 4 days. Hotel is not near to the station, abt 10 mins walk.

That it was near to the railway station/tube.

That the room had a stange smell in it, possibly other persons had smoked in the room. The lack of free internet, and that the when one purchases a voucher that the time has to be used all in one go. Felt rather cheated at paying for breakfast as part of the room price, when there was no check on those having breakfast to ensure that those who did not payfor breakfast in their room price could still be accessing the breakfast. Found the dinning area part of the loby very off putting. The broken airconditioning, and the fact that we were not offeren any sort of compensation for having to tollerate the lack of airconditioning in our room. Not enough coat hangers. Double rooms should have two suitcase stands.

Near train station, easy to go to town with 24h bus and tube, near Westfield mall which is very good in quality and price for shopping.

Close proximity to the Olympic site. Breakfast was easy & good range of food offered

My room had a connecting door with the adjacent room which as a single female I felt insecure. Particularly as next door was extremely noisy all night and the noise was amplified because of the lack of a wall. Fire alarm at 12:45am didn't help but was well managed by the staff.

bed too soft for my liking.

Presentation of room good. Very clean. Staff knowledgeable about area. Staff pleasant & friendly. Great location for Westfield.

Bed too small for a double, uncomfortable first night, had to use sofa bed second night. Would have been nice to have had a clock on the tv, majority of hotels do. Very disappointing breakfast, limited choice. Hot food not appetising! Parking excessive! On the whole reasonable stay, but doubt I will return.

The window in our room was broken so we could not close it overnight. Our room was facing main street so we could hear lots of noise all the time. Room number 307

They charge the internet extra the heating of the room is not good. They dont have variaty of foods in the restaurant and the service is poor. I am not going to use this hotel anymore.

The location was ideal for us near to tubes, buses and Westfield. Breakfast was included in the price.
