Overpriced. Paid £450 for a family room. No fridge and was in a room at the bottom of the room. Wifi rarely worked. Never again
* Service * Food * Decor & Furnishings
* Pathetic Shower in room * Very noisy when guests in room above walked their floor * NOT being pre-warned of major building works
The professional staff, the superb food and the amazing location.
The fact that we only stayed 2 days. An oversight we'll rectify very soon.
The attitude of the staff; the price of the golf; the food and the location.
Only one arm chair in the room.
Fabulous golf & leisure facilities. Spacious & nicely furnished room
Cellar Bar - overpriced bar food
The wonderful views and grounds were a delight. The rooms are spacious and comfy. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. It was nice to be able to eat the bar meal in the resaturant and enjoy the views. The snooker table was great fun. I wish I'd brought my swimming costume too. Friends joined us for supper and were very impressed. We would definitely use it again.
the location and the main house
Very friendly restaurant staff, good pool and Jacuzzi, nice breakfast, great view in one direction.
Looking onto a building site out of one window, finding our room was an annexe, so had to walk outside to get from there to anywhere and it was wet, not a great reception on arrival, not a good vegetarian menu although the chef was very helpful.
We loved the peace and quiet...the lovely golf course, the tranquility of the place. We've been the past two years now and will we be back next year...;)
The only criticism was the humming/buzzing noise of something throughout the night which spoilt both my nights sleep... We stayed in the main house. The previous year we stayed in the gardeners cottages which we found better...
the view from our window. the gounds. the breakfast. our greeting at reception 1st day.
The Cellars has no atmosphere. the bar staff are poorly trained serving warm white wine and water.
Everything - including fantastic views
The clean bedroom!!! The view at breakfast!!
The changing facilities at the pool!!! For the price we paid..we would have liked a room with a view...not looking onto the vegetable patch!!!
Bedroom was very comfortable 'tho steep stairs rather "puffing". Dinner and breakfast very good and scenery from hotel was stunning.
Friendly and efficient service with splendid lounge areas and excellent restaurant. Spectacular golf course and comprehensive recreational facilities make this hotel a destination worthy of revisiting.
Bar rather dark and felt a little cramped but did not detract from overall enjoyment of visit.
the Peace and Quiet. No Pressure.
Not sure on the directions on leaving the hotel to go to Barnstaple.
Friendly staff, made you welcome.
Affordable high quality service and facilities with a welcoming atmosphere. Should I have further work commitments in the area I would definitely reside here for the duration.
No Heating in room No Hot water Dust Price of Beer £4.00 a bottle! Dog barking in room next door
We love room and views...and dinner in restaurant was outstanding !
We are not British but live here and feel fully as a part of this country but staff was never too nice to Us, they got us feel like we shouldn't come to your hotel. We are not sure if we gonna come back.
Awful breakfast Amateurishly run
This hotel has had a makeover of their rooms which has added hugely to its appeal ideal location for getting away, but well placed for visiting all north devon.
Great facilities clean staff were friendly Beautiful views from our room great location for the beaches/and surrounding areas Very relaxed environment
The web site says you can check in from 1 but when we arrived (at 2) we were told it was 3 but didn't get into our room until nearly 4!!!! Children's food menu was poor - staff told us most of it was unavailable! Because the deep fat fryer was broken! You do not need to deep fry all kids food! You offer a family facility but the restaurant was not open until 6:30, which is too late for little people. A pannini in the Golf bar would not be sufficient for a small child. There seems to be a lack of communication between staff, one person tells you one thing and another tells you something different. Eg the newspapers are kept here...no, the next day they are somewhere else! Yes you can have a hot chocolate for breakfast, no you can't have one the next day!!!!
